Skype Voice over IP

I have installed Skype, the Voice over IP messaging client found at http://www.skype.com. I installed the Linux client awhile back, but could never get the thing to do voice properly. I installed it for Windows, and it worked fine. From research on the Skype forum, it seems that there was an issue using Skype with KDE with the Arts sound system. If you are a KDE user, Arts is quite important. Even though the KDE Project intends to do away with Arts and go with the Alsa sound system drivers, we still need to think about Arts support. Today, I downloaded the latest Skype for Linux and gave it another shot. It worked! Whatever problem it had was solved and I couldn't believe my ears. Finally, I have access to a complete Voice over IP solution for my Linux desktop. If you wish to reach me by Skype, contact me with the ID of reebop.
