Today, I wrote a short piece on my Geeksters.org site about Windows' 20th birthday: http://www.geeksters.org/modules/news/article.php?storyid=394 Most of you know, I'm no fan of Microsoft or Bill Gates. One thing to keep in mind though is that Linux, the open source movement and advances in them would not be where they are today if it were not for Windows. I like the MacOS desktop, but the one thing they did not have for years is the command line. Linux usage is steadliy rising and possibly the sun is setting on the dominance of Microsoft, but we cannot overlook the fact that through monopolistic practices, corporate bullying and out and out copying of other computing ideas, Microsoft Windows is a landmark product.
