I've finally got Mandriva 2008.0 installed on my shiny new HP dv3923cl laptop. The laptop is a fairly lightweight model with a 17" Brightview screen. It is powered by a Athlon X64 dual core mobile chip. I can say that Windows Vista is about as fast as XP on my P3 700mhz machine when I'm booted into that. In Linux however, the computer really shows off its speed. I finished configuring the web cam and wireless last night. Next, I'll shrink down the Vista partition and load Windows XP Pro. That will give me 3 boot options on that computer much like my old HP laptop has. Now that I will be doing all my graphics and web work on my new machine, my old one will now become a nice carry around machine I can take most anyplace. Screenshots and pictures will follow.
