Yahoo Messenger and Chat Down

In reading news on some of the IM forums, it appears that Yahoo is suffering from either a server outage or the bandwidth that is provided to the server itself. "Network Node" is the term used by someone in the "know". Yahoo does not make any announcements about outages to their service. There are also reports that their messenger.yahoo.com page is not always working and that errors are popping up in Yahoo 360 showing people online, yet nobody worldwide seems to be getting on. Yahoo Mail seems to be working at this time.
Keep in mind that you can always camp out in the forum chat room and that I have an IRC chat server as well as my own Instant Messenging service. Let me know if you have any questions.

 Thank you Ree for the information. I initially thought I had problems with my internet connection....but then not, when I can access the sites. 
I thought so that the forum would tell something why I cannot log into yahoo messenger or other chat clients for that matter. Thanks!

I have viewed reports that many users are having trouble with their Yahoo Mail accounts as well. Slow loading pages and not being able to see a page at all are being reported. For most, messenger.yahoo.com and chat.yahoo.com are not working at this time. I would be leery of trying to use my Yahoo Mail account at this time until everything comes back on.

The latest on what happened to Yahoo that day is that due to a faulty firewalling config, part of Yahoo's network was brought down by a denial of service attack. When I find more details, I'll let you know.
