"Two California sociologists, Thomas Lasswell and Terry Hatkoff, have developed a Love Scale:
Romantic love --this lover thinks constantly about the loved one, is jealous, unrealistic, will tolerate anything, is sexually attracted by physical appearance, needs repeated reassurance he/she is loved in return. Typically lasts a few months or a few years (some anthropologists say it lasts 4 years, i.e. until the baby is through nursing and can walk and run. Then the love bond releases the more powerful males to find another female to impregnate with his genes.)
Best friend or companionate love --this lover enjoys the companionship and intimacy of a close friendship. It is a comfortable, slowly developing, trusting, committed relationship, not intense excitement, desperation, or sexual obsessions.
Unselfish love --the lover is devoted and self-sacrificing to the loved one, gives without expecting anything in return, is gentle, caring, and dutiful.
Logical love--the lover carefully selects the "right person" logically, looking for someone with compatible interests, similar education and religion, a harmonious personality, common values, and long-term goals.
Game-playing love --this person may be charming but is hardly a lover; he/she merely enjoys the dating game. He/she relishes the meeting, the impressing, the seducing, the challenge of a conquest but usually makes it clear there is little or no long-term commitment to the other person.

I go for unselfish love and logical..with a spice of romantic love and a portion of companion love...when your as an old fart as I am, you long for that part ...someone who u will say someday...honey where is the beef? and still got the laff of your life till both your false teeth fall down;D

I would go for unselfish love, in a relationship it's about giving and taking and both partners should be on an equal step, also a bit of romance to keep the sparkles alife and it's nice to be surprised by your partner when growing old together so you still feel that she/he loves you and finds you attractive, and finally some best friend love cause i think it's nice to have a lover that's your best friend at the same time and you are able to discuss everything with her/him and that you are strongly connected to each other so there are no misunderstandings...
Just follow your heart when you choose your partner i'm sure everybody will meet mrs or mr RIGHT... she/he might be waiting around the corner... It's no use in looking for love... Love finds you.... goodluck and have a great day everybody

For the most part I think it's true, Pards. But if I have to choose which one better suits me according to their definitions...I would prefer Friendship/Companionate Love. Shucks, I never thought there was so much emotional problems involved in having a Romantic kind of Love. But now that I think about it, they are all real and they all happens sooner or later one way or another. Companionate Love is cool then. No pressures and the feelings towards each other are slowly built, making it more surely and lasting.
I would hate the Game-playing....and Logical Love sounds so....cold, as if there are no emotions involved, just compatability.
And Unselfish love sounds stupid. They shoot martyrs these days, that is if constant nagging from friends and families don't do you in first.
