Daily Scripture Reading for November 2004

November 1, 2004...........Matthew 5:1-12 When he saw the crowds, he went up the mountain, and after he had sat down, his disciples came to him. He began to teach them, saying: "Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are they who mourn, for they will be comforted. Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the land. Blessed are they who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be satisfied. Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy. Blessed are the clean of heart, for they will see God. Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God. Blessed are they who are persecuted for the sake of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are you when they insult you and persecute you and utter every kind of evil against you (falsely) because of me. Rejoice and be glad, for your reward will be great in heaven. Thus they persecuted the prophets who were before you. Guide question: Do you stand up for righteousness in times of persecution?

November 2, 2004............John 11:17-27 When Jesus arrived, he found that Lazarus had already been in the tomb for four days. Now Bethany was near Jerusalem, only about two miles away. And many of the Jews had come to Martha and Mary to comfort them about their brother. When Martha and Mary to comfort was coming, she went to meet him; but Mary sat at home. Martha said to Jesus, "Lord, if you had been here, my brother would not have died. (But) even nowI know that whatever you ask of God, God will give you". Jesus said to her, "Your brother will rise." Martha said to him, "I know he will rise, in the resurrection on the last day." Jesus told her, "I am the resurrection and the life; whoever believes in me, even if he dies, will live, and everyone who lives and believes in me will never die. Do you believe this?" She said to him, "Yes, Lord. I have come to believe that you are the Messiah, the Son of God, the one who is coming into the world. Guide question: Have you ever been tired and frustrated of waiting for God?

Quote:Do you stand up for righteousness in times of persecution? |
| It's easy to say I will because the situation hasn't arises yet, but most of the times whatever is easy is always hard to do. So instead, if that time comes, i will pray to God for strength to stay strong and stand for righteousness. Quote:Have you ever been tired and frustrated of waiting for God? |
| There was never time like i've been waiting for God, because i know deep in my heart He lives with me, and i hang on to Him at all times. I felt so lucky that despite of my sinfulness i can still feel that God stays with me....but we all know that God came not for the righteous but for the sinners.

November 3, 2004.............Luke 14:25-33 Great crowds were traveling with him, and he turned and addressed them, "If any one comes to me without hating his father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters, and even his own life, he cannot be my disciple. Whoever does not carry his own cross and come after me cannot be my disciple. Which of you wishing to construct a tower does not first sit down and calculate the cost to see if there is enough for its completion? Otherwise, after laying the foundation and finding himself unable to finish the work the onlookers should laugh at him and say, 'This one began to build but did not have the resources to finish.' Or what king marching whether with ten thousand troops he can successfully oppose another king advancing upon him with twenty thousand troops? But if not, while he is still far away, he will send a delegation to ask for peace terms. In the same way, everyone of you who does not renounce all his possessions cannot be my disciple. Guide question: Have you ever had the difficulty of choosing between the Lord and a loved one's activity?

| We normally have weekly activities for the Lord, but if one is busy or the others are not available, we usually move it to another date. It's a kind of give and take situation, loved ones activity were most of the times scheduled, so that can always be arranged. However, if its kind of urgent matters and there's not enough time to give notice, then it's either i will attend or my husband will. Division of labor is what we call it.

| For me,it's very difficult to say i prioritize Lord's activities especially if both activities for the Lord and with your friends are scheduled at a time and when that's the only time you can spend time with your friends.I accept I lack so much attention for the Lord.I never allow Lord's day to be preoccupied though.

November 4, 2004...........Luke 15:1-10 The tax collectors and sinners were all drawing near to listen to him, but the Pharisees and scribes began to complain, saying, "This man welcomes sinners and eats with them. So to them he addresed this parable. "What man among you having a hundred sheep and losing one of them would not leave the ninety-nine in the desert and go after the lost one until he finds it? And when he does find it, he sets it on his shoulders with great joy and, upon his arrival home, he calls together his friends and neighbors and says to them, 'Rejoice with me because I have found my lost sheep.' I tell you, in just the same way there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over nintey-nine righteous people who have no need of repentance. "Or what woman having ten coins and losing one would not light a lamp and sweep the house, searching carefully until she finds it? And when she does find it, she calls together her friends and neighbors and says to them, 'Rejoice with me becasue I have found the coin that I lost.' In just the same way, I tell you, there will be rejoicing among the angels of God over one sinner who repents." Guide question: In heaven, God has lost and found boxes. Where are you in the those boxes?

| I'm not really sure which boxes i can aptly put myself. I was never really a lost child, but as i was meditating, it came to my mind that when i'm in sin, i am losing myself, and when i confesses them, i've found a new me. But i cannot say, i belong on the found boxes because whether i like it or not, i'm most likely be committing sins more often than i expected. Maybe I'm in both boxes....lost now ...found later...and so on and so fort
