I am deeply saddened today at the loss of Kurt Vonnegut today at the age of 84. I felt enriched with Slaughterhouse 5, Cat's Cradle and the Sirens of Titan. He was a symbol of American counter culture who's life was deeply affected by being a first hand witness to the bombing of Dresden in World War II. Many people forget though that he was a humorist, maybe a very dark one, but a humorist just that had a tremendous following among college students everywhere. Sometimes quirky, sometimes irreverent, he will be remembered as one of the great modern American writers.
