North Korean Nukes a New Dark Age?

How do you all feel about North Korea having nuclear weapons? They may not be useful functioning devices, but a "dirty bomb", one that can spread lots of lethal radiation, is a major concern for all of us. I for one am rather nervous by the fact that they are working hard to develop missle technology. It does not take a "rocket scientist" however, to see that the North Korean government is controlled by some very strange acting people. I'm not so sure how much China props up their government, but it is clear that even they are not happy with this situation. Should the US / UN cave into nuclear blackmail and stage direct talks, or should the US and the other 5 powers in the region hold a strong line and demand that North Korea meet with them as a group? Keep in mind too that North Korea has several old but still serviceable Soviet-era submarines. These are the last people I wanted to see explode a device.

Who can stop stop this 2nd Hitler in our year?? lol Its a nightmare! Come to think of it....the war that struck our past still in our elders thoughts, so what more of the NUCLEAR thang ? GEESH! Thinkin it will happen might let me die so soon eh....Now that North Korea has carried out a nuclear test, can anything be done to punish it? Or would the collapse of the regime be even more dangerous?
Imagine, Japan which almost immediately cut off trade. Why would they let to test their nuclears? whats the purpose? What for? Why?
Much more can be done, the Japanese believe, to stop Mr Kim's flow of cash, notably in China. Mr Kim chiefly makes his money from a shadowy network of enterprises known as Division 39.
Japan has at least declared categorically that North Korea's test will not prompt it to pursue its own nuclear programme. This means that one of China's biggest concerns has, for the moment, abated. China is also doubtless relieved that Mr Bush, in his statement on the test, sounded more anxious about nuclear technology seeping from North Korea (a “grave threat” to America) than he was about the test itself. But the United States and most regional powers do not yet see eye to eye.
Japan hated them so much cuz when they hit their sea territory while having a nuclear test..yes thats it! ... Its been 2 years since they fought with North Koreans cuz they always aboarding to japan`s territory...why? spying? or really fishing?? smells fishy huh? Even me, im quite anxious about this N. Korea, whats their real problem?

Dratt! Talking of wars and nuclear weapons always give me goosebumps! I have seen enough war movies to last me a lifetime and I don't need to see those scenes being carried out in real life. I think the most important question is :Can they stop North Korea without a threat of another world war if it ever comes to that? Do they have the right to even meddle in the North Korean affairs? I do not know much about these things politically. All I know is that all nations concerned are feeling threatened by these "activities" of North Korea. Already here in the Philippines, our government is already forming an evacuation plan for all the Filipinos in North Korea. So it must be something serious.
Now to answer Ree's question, I think if they can really get all the UN members to form a dialogue with the NK government without making NK feel insulted or look bad, then they should at least try it before things got out of hand. If they just sit back and watch, it might be too late to formulate an action against it. Like they say "Prevention is better than Cure".

Really, it's threatening but I am horrified as I hear some people say, " The US has them, Russia and others have them, why North Korea can't?" Are these people really so naive? Would we have given Adolf Hitler the nuclear bomb because it was unfair that the USA had one? NO, of course not! The NK dictator is unstable and should be stopped, not encouraged on the grounds of equality.
For me, like the Iraq issue, the goal is NOT ONLY to stop the bomb, but the regime itself. North Korea is an organized crime unit in the guise of a nation state, and its own people have no recourse against it. North Korea is not prepared to listen to reason. Furthermore, the North Korean leader KJI has shown scant respect for world opinion and has to be stopped in his tracks before he test fires further nuclear weapons. These North Korean nuclear tests are making the world an even more dangerous place to live in. These tests have got to stop. Sanctions against North Korea are meant to serve as a reminder to the regime that its actions by carrying out the tests are totally against world opinion.
Moreover, I see North Korea as a serious threat to its neighboring countries. Their nuclear weapons' testing would
destroy its neighboring countries' efforts for developments and prosperity. I would be more than happy to see NK goverment breaks down if that brings the other few countries free of threats.
Sure, it's time to "bomb" KJI's too much ego.

We are learning now that they are planning yet another test soon. My concerns about this area are China and South Korea. The actions in the south suggest "business as usual" and China, although not happy with their neighbor may not apply the pressure needed to stabilize the area. Japan seems to be on the forefront with the US in actions against the Pongyang government, yet meets with grumbling with neighbors because of the militarist policies of Tokyo 60-70 years ago. We all agree on what needs to happen, but how are we going to achieve disarming Pongyang?

Yes Bop, and that only shows North Korea's stubborness in stopping their horrifying nuclear testing program. And yes, I am so much concern of its neighboring countries, especially South Korea that has been very peacefully achieving its developments and prosperity. And if a war breaks, who would want to go to South Korea? Because people will certainly feel the danger and will feel like they are in North Korea.
