You may picture in your mind the statues of Egyptian gods or Roman gods but there is more to idoltry then statues of false gods.  Even though that is the most common form of Idoltry in the accient world and the lowest form of false religion.  In the beginning of Roman and Egyptians cultures there were on statues of thier gods, and as time progressed they started making statues of thier gods.  Which lead to a decay in thier morals because since the centralized there god it was out of sight out of mind.  The Pastor Charles Stanley put it best when he says " an idol is anything that replaces the importance of God in your life."  When Jesus spoke to the rich young man and he told him to give away his wealth the men went away sad because he had much, Jesus knew that the man valued his wealth above God.  The wealth was not the sin it is how high he placed it.  If you love anything or person more then God you are guilty of Idoltry, and I think this is a sin we all struggle with.  I know sometimes I forget to go to my quiet time of prayer and bible time because I am spending time on the computer so I force myself to shut down my computer and seperate myself from activity on it.  So it will not consume me.  We have to remember to put God before anyone and anything else.  Some times it is too easy to put God on the back seat, and get distracted by daily activities.  It is a powerful tool of the flesh...

think of somethings that maybe Idols in your life and then do things to make then no longer idols even if it means getting rid of them completely.....

In the few weeks to come I will speak of some common idols in the society might get some friction over some of the things I plan to talk about but I am hoping that it will spark debate and maybe some biblical understanding
