YoooHooo . . . REEBOP, Sir! CoLor Scheme + WYSIWYG

OKAY! Some might say . . . Look who's back! Some others might say, damn . . . she's back from the dead! Anyways . . . REE! *lol* I just got back from HYBERNATiNG . . . *lol* and somebody told me that I should get into this place again. *oh boy, here we go again* ... lol That's for later. Anyways, I like this place new features, and won't resist if you add more and more fun to it. I Like BLUE But --- the color - BLUE on this ... errr ... uhmmm ...kinda dull? plain? I dunno, but it makes me lazy, sleepy . . . *lol* And with the blue-flowery-background, it's hard to read the tiny words of Top and bottom clickable links of this forum `cos of it, sorta. But hey --- it's just a thought! maybe IF there's option to change the scheme, maybe someday. Another thing, I like the writing box's features, more fun, more smileys. And IMHO, if it's possible, would be more fun if it's using WYSIWYG system `cos it's more easier and more simple And all is just a thought . . . PS: Oh, Oh, Oh . . . Where is the EDIT Button to edit my entry(s) Yikes, it's gone Or somebody hid it ?!

YooHoooo! I will probably change the scheme next month to a 4th of July theme. Usually, I will do a theme with associated wallpaper as part of a holiday theme. Since a major holiday was lacking, I wanted a "water" theme (something with colors associated with my website) and that is what the person called the wallpaper I was using. Theme colors for this software isn't a simple thing. I don't have many options in the CSS (Cascading Style Sheets) template and often, one simple color change will affect another completely different text area in a negative way. As for the WYSIWYG interface, that would be a great idea. The only problem is that it would be quite a programming undertaking to make that work with the special "codes" for embedding text, pictures, fonts, colors, flash and the like that this forum software uses. I am wondering though if someone programmer has done this for this software. I will look and see. Wecome back!

| Aaah, thats very understandable, Ree. Things shall be upgradable in times, who knows. But still I like the new features now compare to the last year, it`s sooo dried up! *lol* Quote:As for the WYSIWYG interface, that would be a great idea. | YEP! the WYSIWYG is great and powerful tool alright! `Cos we dont need to mess with the yada-yada-YABBC thingies that needs to put the tags manually and/or by copy/paste the codes if we gonna put different "look" on the writing later --- unless, it can be done/appear automatically by clicking here and there on before or after each words/lines (including the smileys), `cos if not, the codes woud go to the very bottom of the box auto. *lol* Grrrr . . . I do that ALLthe time! *lol* And still --- needs the little tiny HTML knowledge to do all those, to comprehend what goes to where . . . While the WYSIWYG is do all those stuff for you and save loads of times and energy. But yeah --- Can`t ask you much, If it would be quite a programming undertaking to make that work with the special "codes" for embedding text, pictures, fonts, colors, flash and the like that this forum software uses. BUT --- since you`re Inspector Gadget , I still would like to put the hope high! *lol* Who knows! Quote:Wecome back! |

Whatever you do in here is fine with me. It's not as if I can complain and do something about it. Heck, I do not even have an idea of what would look good here!

| The ADMIN is the only person that has absolute authority to change things and take control, whether he even could make some member dissapear and lost accounts and all or he would wanna give me more authority to do stuff as well as the rest of others in here soon or later. I shall say it`s totaly irrelevant whether one's have the power and authority to do stuff in here or not with the topic, since the ADMIN wants the rest of the people give HIM suggestions to make the place better. This is why HE made the topic "Comments & Suggestions" for. Not `cos of what we CAN do (`cos some people has been given more authority to administrate) or of what we CAN NOT do (`cos some others not given the authority). Oh, boy!

Nah, I have known Heidi for a long time. Really, any comments and suggestions are ok. Some things I can do, some things I cannot. One time, it was suggested to do a calendar application, and I found one to use. I also need to fix the forum "homepage" link on the menubar, and get the RSS news feed working. The bad thing about this software is that making those changes could take the entire day if not longer. Some of these "mods" that they make for this software do not play well together, but it is like that for most any forum software that you use. Also, I have to balance my time between my paying jobs, my sports and making these upgrades. I never look at anyone's comments or suggestions as "demands" but I can understand if they may look "demanding" when written in the form of a post. I have done a search for a for a better posting interface, but there are none. It does seem like a good idea, but I am sure there is a good reason why there are none. I had a look at my Geeksters.org posting editor, and it does the same type of thing with a different command structure. I think if I tried to code one, or modify a Perl TextArea editor app, I would probably make more trouble by having to edit other parts of the codebase and the way it stores textfiles. I think the reason is that a WYSIWYG editor tends to store things in a particular format such as RTF or HTML. In YaBB, all files are stored in a straight TXT format. In the YaBB code, the special commands are parsed out of the text file and formatted. Probably the only real solution to having a WYSIWYG interface is to have a HTML format for all postings. The problem there is the filesize of HTML is much greater than TXT. The TXT format is the most efficient format for this case, and I am sure that is why it is used here.

| Yes, I agree. What Members post can often have a One-Dimensional Aspect to them and can be viewed in a way that was not intended, either that or I need to get out and dig some holes in the ground.

| Wow, you do have a sharp tongue, eh? Maybe you should try and meet some people first before biting their heads off? I do not even mean to change anything even if I can. You maybe old friends with them but I think I can honestly say that I have established my own kind of friendship with these people and can confidently joke around without them getting offended with what I say? Was just trying to be funny here. Would not have commented too, if you have not quoted me. And I agree with what Dale said...sheez...I work like shit here coz I care for this forum and I get this kind of treatment for my troubles? Now back off please...!!!

Quote: 12 Posts and already making Demands.....Gesshh. |
| Maybe this place is your first forum you ever been in. But NOT for me. I belonged to several forums before, and basically they have same simple rules. I know the portions of being a member of a forum. And IF there`s no options allowing the members to do stuffs, why would I against the wave for. That goes the same to Why REE put the certain topic like "suggestions & comments" and asked ALL to free the ideas. IF he wanted YOU only to do that, he would have not asked EVERYONE at the first place. And about "12 posts", I think I need REE to explain if I missed some rules about posting, `cos I NEVER heard that in ANY forums I belong to, that everyone needs to GAIN certain post levels to have the same rights to do stuff in here as others that have THOUSANDS of posts. Now I really worry about other members feelings when they read about your writing here, that has NEVER posted anything. ZERO post --- and that means --- they don`t even have slighest chance to speak their mind about ideas without being stepped by you. Oh WoW. ZERP post --- doesn`t mean they don`t love this place, I bet they do, and might have greater ideas than me or even you, but I believe less posts from some other members have reasons too. BUSY and don`t LiVE on internet 24hours of the time. Only the problem is --- you just don`t get the idea between DEMANDING and SUGGESTING within 12 (or less) posts, is all. And then again along with the 12posts whining of you is "making demands" , Behaving as if a FORUM-COP isn`t the charmest way. Really. . . . DUDE, I dunno IF you read and/or comprehended of my conversations with REE way up there. People could see the difference if it were demanding convos or not --- the convos stayed clear and simple. Not even a slighest push I put on him. We really had very nice decent visions exchange, since he's so techy guy and I`m not. For the sake of your noble knowledge >>> SUGGESTIONS has never related to any kinds of Demands. I mean, really. I don`t sleep with My Thesaurus, but I live on it for the sake of humble skills I gain. You should have known better than this. Being prepared and knowing what to say instead jumping on somebody`s case wildly. But . . . Oh Well. Quote: No Offense, I don't know you from a Hole in the Ground... |
| Offended? Didn`t even slightest scratch the tip of my hair. And Neither do I know you --- but doest it matter whether you know me from a raisen HeLL? NAH ! Quote: But shouldn't you contribute and post something meaningful FIRST here on FreeWold before Creating a Thread to Complain and Tell everyone what to do, or what YOU would like done Ehh!? |
| Read up there and WAKE UP! Actually --- it`s YOU who tell people what to do, like you telling me to do this first and that next. More than that, what have YOU done to contribute then ? ? ? NAH! It`s Okay.. I wouldn`t be surprise. Suddenly this acrossed my mind : Everybody Wants Their OWN Shows. Know What You Step On, Then you shall know how to host your game. Being carefully ``picking`` your audiences. Uh-HuH. MY BELIEVE is: IF I love the place, then I`d suggest any ideas (if I have ones) without being pushy, without being a CONTROL FREAK, despite if you`re 12posts poster or a loner or beginner, or a carpet-muncher. (~And that`s what I did and still would do for next!~) So There!
