GMA recently stated in her SONA (state of the nation address) that she is for charter change. Although she had mentioned that she is for parliamentary form that is yet to be seen. SO now there will be a big debate on this... Wich one do you think would be best for the Philippines, Parliamentary or Federal?

I really dont see what difference it would make. All I want is someone who can rule the country with an iron hand and a heart that belongs to the people.

I am open to a charter change but the mistake that they will be doing is putting the same old "TRAPO" traditional politician in power which will not change anything.

GMA is for cha-cha coz it will buy her more time which by then she has hoped to change the people's mind about her unsuitability as a Leader. Like I said, Im pro-GMA so what can I say?

I have nothing against to those GMA fanatics as long as they can support their being fanatical. Ok, that would be in another thread not in the chacha thread though.

Changing the name Congressman with Minister will still not make better laws if the same corrupt officials run for office and can also same craft legislations that favor their own interests.

What we need to do is to change the people elected into office. We can all do that by putting more resources in informing the public about choosing the right candidate and ensuring that elections are honestly conducted and fair to all so that we have a chance to directly change the face of our today's politics, and not only change the SEAT COVER.

We should do the following:

1. Reconstruct the electoral process to ensure no cheating will take place

2. Reconstruct the framework of allowing only qualified candidates to run

Parliamentary or Federal?

As I remember, we used to have a parliamentary form in the early 80's with Cesar Virata as our Prime Minister and Marcos as our President.

The cabinet leaders were called Ministers and we had Assemblymen in our legislative body.

In a Parliamentary form of government, the president should just be a symbol or figure head and the Prime Minister as the head of the state, but then again Marcos was still the one controlling the laws and the other government functions so nothing happened still with that kind of government.
