Question about being on the pill

I've been taking birth control pills for several months now, although I'm (sadly  Grin) not sexually active. A friend of mine suggested that I take it to help ease the pain of menstrual cramps and from dysmenorrhea (sp?) too. I must confess that it kind of help with my mood swings too because it helps balance your hormones or something. Plus, the pimples reminding you that you're period is just around the corner has gone MIA too. Which makes me a happy puppy, of course.  Grin

Anyway, my concern is, I've heard that taking birth control pills if you're not sexually active also poses some sort of risk?

I understand that any drug out there has its own health risk/s, but I'm interested to know if anyone of you has had any bad experiences with the pill?

I have a friend who uses control pills after their first child.  After five years, the couple decided to stop the pills because they want another baby.  Unfortunately, after months of trying, nothing happens and they blamed it on pills.

Though it could be that she was using the wrong pills for her. or it could be other causes.  But then, I've heard stories from friends too who have same predicament...they can't have a child ever.

If the use of control pills has permission from your ob-gyn maybe it can't harm you.

well i'm not sure if you guys still come in here to be able to read my comment but here it is anyways....

Aw but first of... i'm not an OB GYN so i'm not %100 sure... but i'm just going with what i've read n what my doctor told me....

I have used pills for 6 month when i was a teen ager to regulate my periods and to help ease the PMS too. Doc said so...

Then when i was sexually active, I used it for the obvious reason   Grin....

Not all pills work the same. There are those who just prevent you from getting preggy (the regular pills they give out in health centers ) and then there are the Anti androgen pills like the one i used to use. This Anti androgen pills are not primarily birth control pills (or so i understand) they are prescribed for those women who need to control their hormones. Wacky hormones are usually what causes our skin to become oil, thus, making our skin prone to acne. Anti androgen pills regulates your hormones to help you get clear skin and big boobs too  Grin

Side effect also vary from migraines, weight gain, mood swings and a lot other. Women with varicose vain should also refrain from using pills since it makes it worst.

According to my doctor too... If you have been using the pill for a long time and you want to stop using it, you have to stop using it gradually or else your hormones will go wacky n you end up getting pimples acne problems.
