The Da’ Vinci Code the Movie You may have heard of the famous book called the Da Vinci Code written by Dan Baker. If you haven’t read the book there is a chance you will go and see the Movie since it was produced by Ron Howard and one of the stars of the Movie is Tom Hanks. The Da Vinci Code is based upon a book written 20 years ago named Holy Grail holy bloodline. The Book takes random unrelated historical events and weaves a tail trying to show an imaginary conspiracy. Dan Brown book states that Jesus was married to Marry Magdalene, and had children and that the early church didn’t believe that Christ was divine. He Contents that in 520 ad the council of Niacin took a vote and by a small margin the church decided that Christ was Devine and burned 100’s of books stating Christ humanity. Baker states that the lineage of Christ took the throne of France, and has gone down through the centuries. The reason that book is called the Da Vinci Code is the fact that suppossibly that Leonardo DeVinci was a precept of this order that kept the records of the blood line of Christ. That you can find clues in Leonardo’s paintings. He says the apostle John in the Painting of the last supper is actually Mary Magdalene and they are separated by a V for the femine Deity. This totally ignores the fact of the painting that Leonardo made of Mary Magdalene worshipping Jesus. Also the V in the painting is a common renaissance styling showing action. Baker also contents the apostle holding the knife in the painting was to show the contempt the Apostles had for Mary. Baker is right about the knife having symbolic meaning the Apostle that was holding the knife was believe to be came a Martyr by being stabbed by a thousand times with knifes. There has been sever books written debunking the DeVinci code. Like Breaking the DeVinci Code. Devinci Code fact or fiction. There were books that were excluded from the Cannon but they had been excluded lone before this council and the reason they were excluded for they were written way too late to come from the apostles. Also the books that were excluded came from the Gnostic View and the Gnostics claimed that Christ was not Flesh. It came from the Greek View of the flesh being Evil and the Spirit being pure. So they say Christ was never flesh. A couple of the books that were excluded separated the God of the Old Testament and the new testament all of these books came about 500 A.D. And were never considered to be scripture. The view of the DaVinci code is so far out there even the history channel debunked it and they try to take a neutral stand when it comes to Faith. I am going to see this one if it ever gets shown here in the Philippines but already there are lots of protests going on. Can't they treat this as another fiction flick? Why make so much fuss? I mean do people always believe what they hear or see? When I watch a movie I always thought it's to entertain myself, not to analyze if there is truth or lies in the facts being presented?

| I don't know if you have read the book, sistah, but it's the type that can shake one's faith, therefore people in protest see it as a form of sacrilege. Interesting though, especially if you have read previous books of Dan Brown.

| No way, sistah! They can tell or show me a lot of biased facts about it but there is no way they can change my mind as to what I believed in. I'm just curious here why it's been attracting controversy. I want to see how they presented the movie and the facts in it. I admire the imaginative way they have created this movie based on what I have read and seen of the previews. And no, I have not read the book, but would love to.

I saw the movie...I was impressed..none of the critics gave it good reviews. Probably due to the fact that they were mostly catholic or christian critics who dont know what entertainment is. I live in the bible belt of America and even when i tell a few people that I seen the movie...I get dirty looks. Look...I have faith but if you think about it there is no way anyone can really tell what is truth or what isnt truth. Do I believe that Jesus Christ had a wife and kid? No I dont but there really isnt any proof that he was or wasnt married. Besides what difference does it make anyway. If Jesus was married it wouldnt change my opinion about him, God, or christian faith. What I do believe about the movie is back during the Davinci era and prior, the catholic church was very manipulative. Its fact that the Catholic Church killed millions of people in the name of God and to conform other countries to thier ideals. Was it wrong? I dont know. I just dont think religion should be used to kill and conquer countries and have any involvement in the political process. Now freedom thats different. Even today the Catholic Church can be very manipulative. Using religion to force some political issue. Anyway the movie is very entertaining and has a lot of suspense...but dont take any of it as fact. The Catholic Church has stuck their noses in history and left a lot of information out of the bible and put what they wanted in...its no wonder lots of christians can get confused....but you cant let that dictate what you believe. They acting was good but the french accents can be a little hard to understand at times. Ron Howard did a real good job directing..I hope he gets nominated for best director for this flick. The movie wasnt slow at all and moved along quite well. It has twists and turns that fool you. It has good guys and bad guys in it also. I havent read the book and I knew nothing about the bloodline plot untill i watched the movie and I still understood it well. So dont worry about not understanding if you didnt read the book.

I agree with Joel about the church being manipulative. It has started here from the Spanish era when the government was in awe of the church. But with the coming of age, people has become wiser. And being a good person does not rely solely on the teachings of the church or other religious activity but base on how the people around can rely on you to help them or simply sympathize with them. Just be fair, do not be greedy or step on anyone's toes, i think it's enough to make you sleep peacefully at night. If you are not a church-goer then just say some prayers. Going back to the movies, I think I'm going to enjoy watching it because I always love a good story, facts or fictions.
