I read this on OSNews.com. IBM, ever vigilant in creating and then sharing with users, has released the R Programming Language. Mostly to be used with statistical applications, this feature rich environment includes lots of tools to get you started. http://www-106.ibm.com/developerworks/linux/library/l-r1/?ca=dgr-lnxw07A re

That’s some convoluted code to create graph that you can do in excel in about 1 minute I don’t really care for the “->” assignment rather then the good old “=” sign. I think there are a lot of graphical data warehousing tools available today that can do what “R” does via a more “point and click” method; especially if you’re a business that is doing trend/market analysis type reporting in support of strategic business decision making. Unless my core business is statistical reporting, not sure this is something I’d jump all over.

yeah I agree with you scott...those are the graphs that you can create through excel. The advantage of R programming is that it is available in compiled form for many computer platforms like Linux, Windows, Mac OS X, and Mac OS Classic.
