My New Forum Project....

I'll be starting a new forum soon.  The subject of the forum will be all about chat and instant messaging systems and software such as Yahoo, AIM, ICQ, MSN, Gadu-Gadu, Jabber, IRC or any other type of chat.  I will be choosing a name for the new site as well as colors and layouts.  I think I will go with phpBB for this new site.  Any suggestions that you may have for this new site would be appreciated.  Thanks!

BTW, this does not mean that this forum nor Geeksters.org is going anyplace.  This is an entirely new project I thought of when Yahoo had their last big outage.

It's all good Mike, as long as your time for me won't get affected.  Smiley

Ah, I mean, your time for us and the forum won't be affected, since you will be busier with more sites.

ChatFest.org is now open!  There are still some issues to settle on the new site:
1.  The login for the portal / forum is not fluid..at least not for the administrator.  I'll need to check the code modifications I had to make to phpBB to see if everything was copied to the template files properly.
2.  I will be playing with a chat system called FlashChat.  It looks good but I do not know how easy it will be to incorporate it to the site.  For now, I'll have chat tied to a Java client that logs into my IRC server.
3.  I have the Google AdWords program to install.  There is a module that I can install into MKPortal that should make it easier to place.
4.  I will be making some tweaks to the layout of the portal that surrounds the forum.
5.  I have lots of graphics to design, including the logo of the site.  I am pretty sure what I will go with, but I will need to add something like an image so a cute type of favicon.ico image can be produced.  Maybe balloons?

The move from mxBB to MKPortal was a good idea.  mxBB looks quite nice and I applaud their project but I didn't feel it was nearly as complete as MKPortal was.  My concerns about MKPortal?  I can't make the look of the portal look like the theme I chose for phpBB.  Yes, I can make a MKPortal skin, but that will take a lot of time and trial and error.  I feel that the MKBlue skin I chose makes a nice surround to the forum itself.
