Title: how to get images into a post

well, you have to have a good link to your files, you need it in a steady place, easy, stick them im your freespace at geocities.com with your yahoo account, you have 15 megs there for anything, images, sounds, whatever. But note that on geocities you cannot post exe's, and there can be no spaces in the filenames.

so what you do is log in, sign up for a free account, and then build up your file system, arange stuff in seperate folders so you can locate things easier later.

then after you have done that, just type in the location in your explorer bar. you would have the browser set to the home page by directing it at the folder with your index.htm , then you type in the rest by hand including the file name and extension, this will open just that image file in your internet explorer window.

by doing this you have ensured that you got it from the network, and will appear correctly. just copy and paste the contents of the address bar, into the space between the ]URL[ remove the letters URL from between the brackets, but make sure the brackets remain in place, and not spaced from your characters.

so lets say you wanted to see if you can get it right, is the url of an image. heres a link for example:

http://bellsouthpwp.net/m/a/malspach/images/church.jpg

you would type it in so it looked like this:

http://bellsouthpwp.net/m/a/malspach/images/church.jpg

img]http://bellsouthpwp.net/m/a/malspach/images/church.jpg[/img

i have removed the first and last brackets so as to cause it not to show right, so be aware thay they are supposed to be there

post a reply to try it.

well, theres no way to learn forums like experience, so that is a good thing to pass down, we have no newb / faq sequion here like on most boards. so i guess we could use one  ;D ill write up articles as i can, i am sure there are others that could help as well. or you could make one and move newb/faq article types there, or post a question in there.

Title: the difference with adding a flash image
Post by capricorn1971ad on Jan 4th, 2004, 7:25am
the only real difference with inserting a flash file (.swf) rather than a picture, is that there are boxes for size in the link they look like this:

flash=200,200]URL[/flash] (note that this is missing a bracket at the beginning)

the purpose of the 200,200 is to set the size of the flash image, so if you know the size, you can edit it there. if you are unsure of the size, best to leave it set to 200,200 and then try to figure it out later, or try incrimental increases and preveiw as you type the post.

as far as the flash files go, they really arent that hard to make, you should check out swishzone and download swishmax 3.0 for doing simple text flash animations. you can look into that here:

http://www.swishzone.com/

if you download swishmax, i have a file that you will find useful, it will extend your trial period by simply overwriting the exe of the program with the one inside of the zip file. This particular file is located here:

http://www.geocities.com/capricorn1971ad/files/SwishMax.zip

if you wish to try out any macromedia 2004MX product, to extend your trial all you have to do is to overwrite your DLL's in the directory of the product you installed with these DLL's :

http://www.geocities.com/capricorn1971ad/files/macromediaMXDLL.zip

this doesnt apply to freehand by macromedia, it does apply to flash professional MX 2004, dreamweaver MX 2004 and fireworks MX 2004

if you want to learn to animate, swish is the place to start, many of you would be surprised by the ease in which it can be done, try it, i think you will be surprised. after you have gotten that down some, give Flash MX a try, it is capable of much more, it is basically limited by your imagination.

I have found that 500,500 size for flash looks about right here, for future reference..
