I decided to start a topic like this to vent your frustrations about your computer and/or operating system.

For me currently, it's

IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL

evertime I try to load Windows 2000 Pro on my hobby system.  Grrrrrrrrr........

HELP!

After someone reformatted my computer, I went online only to receive this message: Error LSASS shell or something. And the error message talks about lsass.exe. Then what happens is: my laptop reboots by itself after 60 secs. When I'm not online, everything's okay. Only when I log on to the internet does this blasted thing occur!

I have already texted my computer techie about this matter but he hasnt replied yet. I'm sooooo bummed out about Windows XP!

lsass.exe is a system process of the Microsoft Windows security mechanisms. It specifically deals with local security and login policies, and is NOT to be confused with the lsas.exe virus.

Symptoms of Sasser Infection:
Unexpected system shutdowns (mostly on Windows 2000 and Windows XP)
Unexpected heavy traffic which slows down Internet connection
An error message about LSA Shell or lsass.exe, similar to the following:

Course you may be able to get rid of it without using a removal kit.

Thanks for the help.  I was able to use my laptop when I changed ISP at the suggestion of my friend. With this new  ISP, my computer doesnt shutdown anymore and no pesky warnings about LSASS.exe, which is good.

I did read the URL  that you pasted here and I was alarmed by the information. So what I did was I tried to download the sasser remover which, I found out later on was not free. So I searched the internet for a free sasser remover and I came across McAfee's Stinger program which is a stand alone program designed to detect and remove specific threats like the sasser worm.

I downloaded Stinger and read the instruction on how to use it and well,  there is no sasser worm. Honestly, I dont want to rock the boat with my laptop's system now that its working just fine.
