This could be the makings of a huge problem for MS Word users on the Windows platform. Mac users should not be affected by this. If this backdoor / trojan can be placed like this, certainly other payloads can be placed in the same manner. At the time I wrote the story, no fix from Microsoft was available at this time so please be careful of any MS Word doc file attachments you get. Honestly, you will never know what hit you.
