Title: Pluto Demoted Post by ReeBop on Aug 24th, 2006, 11:11pm Pluto has been demoted by the International Astronomical Union (IAU). [url][http://www.geeksters.org/modules/news/article.php?storyid=535/url] By a vote in Prague, Pluto was deemed too small to be considered a planet and that it should be "demoted" to the title of "dwarf planet". I heard from a National Public Radio news story that many are not happy with this change and one astronomer is recieving "hate mail". So what if Pluto was "size challenged". We have known Pluto as a planet for decades and did they really feel the need to do this? I feel safe knowning that the IAU is keeping our solar system structure safe for us to enjoy. We now return to our regular programming... [smiley=silly.gif][smiley=idea2.gif][smiley=silly.gif] [smiley=thinking2.gif] |
