Title: Airliner Involved in Near Miss With Space Debris Post by ReeBop on Mar 28th, 2007, 8:20pm I wrote about this on Geeksters.org this morning and I'm wondering how often we'll hear about such things in the future: http://www.geeksters.org/modules/news/article.php?storyid=626 The Russian space agency was very inaccurate on when the debris would reenter otherwise New Zealand would have issued the proper warnings to any airlines that had flights scheduled in the area. Like I noted in the story, five miles is nothing when you are talking about the speeds involved. The pilots clearly saw the flaming debris ahead of them and it created quite an anxious moment for all involved. [smiley=oops.gif] [smiley=thinking2.gif] |
