LOVE YOU
"I love you", are three little words which are frequently placed together to express a feeling. Nothing more. All too often when people say "I love you", the receiver of the words forgets it means nothing more. "I love you" is thought to mean "I want to spend the rest of my life with you", "Let's get married", and "I love only you" It doesn't. It expresses a feeling.
I love you doesn't mean that you'll be compatible together in a relationship. You could love someone very dearly, but it doesn't mean you're 'right' for one another. You could have very different views on politics/ the way to live life/ where to live/ music, and still love each other. People seem have forgotten that it's possible and more likely to love someone you won't get along with all the time.


What is I love you means to you??? When is the right time to say it?? and why???

the 3 words ( I LOVE YOU) is such a very strong words for me. I don't think i can say it that easy. I do believe that action speak louder than words but yet is not enough that u are still required to say I LOVE YOU to your partner.

the right time? if your ready to spend the rest of ur life with him and accept all the shit about him..maybe thats the rite time to blurt it out.

but then again, i will just say the word once and i'm not gonna repeat it over and over again cause for me saying it always loses its meaning.

don't say the 3 words if ur not sure about ur feelings....believe me u will regret it. saying I  LOVE YOU to someone that u dont even analyze ur real feelings is a big mistake...really big mistake....situation is not enough to say the magic words.

What is it about "I love you" which causes people to think it excludes the possibility of loving others? To find out if they do or not, you need to ask them, not take it for granted. [b]

mylene,  saying the word "i love you" once is not enough.  You think ur lover would settle for that?  Like what about if ur lover likes to say it daily to you, dont tell me u'll just  say thank you.  Of course u'll reply back to make it even.  Or he'll think that u did not love him as much as he loves you.  Say it to the right man at the right time, and dont count.  There's still meaning on it if u'll put meaning to every word u say.  

I cant say i love you when am angry! ;D

believe me mylene....u might not be a worldly kind of woman but despite of that...time will come that you need words too to support the actions. Your man might demand you mylene to say the words just for him, will you refuse if he asked? ???

Well its cool to say I love you when you mean it, but even if you mean it dont mean you should say it all the time. Case in point..... my daughter was going through the I love you phase about a year ago. She would tell me she loved me and I would say I love you to. Then she would come back 10 minutes latter and say Daddy I love you again. Sometimes she would do this 10 times a day I bet. Well the I love my daughter with all my heart and soul but this was starting to get on my nerves, I know she meant it, but I know if i said something to her about her saying it all the time she would be hurt. So I told her that everytime she said I love u to me she was gonna have to do 10 push ups and 10 sit ups to prove her love to me. Well she thought it was fun at first and she did do it for a few days but eventually the I love yous dropped to just once in the morning and once b4 she went to bed and whenever either of us was leaving to go somewhere. My point well its okay to say it when u mean it but dont wear the word out because the more u say it the less it means. It should be said at appropriate times. Its not to be said just because you have nothing else to say or nothing to talk about. :)

Some people aren't in touch with the feeling "I love you" expresses either, and yet still say it. Even worse is when one person says it and means it, and the other says it merely to return the compliment. Returning the compliment immediately reduces any respect for the words "I love you", and doesn't leave much space for the feeling of love to grow later. It introduces what is usually the first big lie in the relationship, and what is a joining built on lies? Worthwhile? In this case, I love you doesn't even mean "I love you". Instead it means "Your nice, I don't want to hurt you" (which they are by lying), or "I want to have sex with you, so I'm pretending to love you".
The words "I love you" have long ago become more than the sum of their parts, and this is part of the reason why so many relationships end up on the rocks. People are no longer either saying what they mean, or hearing what is meant.
Please, when next you go to say the three words, remember what "I love you" doesn't mean. :-/

I can't remember the last time I uttered those three lil words, nor do I recall being told I'm loved. In it's truest sense at least......

Not really sure what this section is about except to say: I Love You!  I know we use these 3 words loosely and many have lost understanding of what love is.  I know the true meaning of these words. But I have also      mis-used these words. I feel that we all need to get back to the real meaning of these words and use them wisely.

My definition of love varies from time to time so My if you're going to ask me right now about love,.. it'll be: "Love is painful... it hurts. :-[ "  

I think no one can really define love.... it is not easily explained...and I do think that no one person feels the same about it. Love is such a complex feeling no wonder it's always been the object of countless songs and poems... but I'll try and see what love means to me so far...

I think Love is one or rather our greatest source of happiness... I believe there's no greater feeling in this world than to love and to feel that you are loved as well... and when I say being loved it is being understood,...and being cared for too... Love is a feeling so strong that sometimes even if the whole world is against you... you still go for it... that sometimes even if it hurts... you still can't stop feeling it...that sometimes even if you feel that it seems to take all that you have you still give without any doubts... without any hesitations. Love is everything! My! this is hard... coz it have to be my own definition... I can't quote someone else's right?  ::) Basta....  :D For whatever it's worth: Love is still the greatest gift this world has to offer.... It's everything there is.... as I've said in another topic... Love is worth fighting for... worth being brave for.... and worth risking everything for... :)

There are times when we are timid and shy about expressing the love we feel. For fear of embarrassing the other person, or ourselves, we hesitate to say the actual words ‘I love you’. So we try to communicate the idea in other words. We say ‘take care’ or ‘don’t drive too fast’ or ‘be good’.

But really, these are just other ways of saying ‘I love you’. ‘You are important to me’, ‘I care what happens to you, and ‘I don’t want you to get hurt’ all mean ‘I love you’. We are sometimes very strange people. The only thing we want to say, and the one thing that we should say, is the one thing we don’t say. And yet because the feeling is so real, and the need to say it is so strong, we are driven to use other words and signs to say what we really mean. And many times the meaning never gets communicated at all and the other person is left feeling unloved and unwanted.

Therefore, I believe we have to listen for love in the words that people are saying to us. Sometimes the explicit words are necessary, but more often, the manner of saying things is even more important. A joyous insult carries more affection and love within the sentiments, which are expressed insincerely. An impulsive hug says ‘I love you’ even though the words might be saying something very different.

Any expression of a person’s concern for another says ‘I love you’. Sometimes the expression is clumsy, sometimes even cruel. Sometimes we must look and listen very intently for the love that it contains.

We say ‘I love you’ in many ways - with birthday gifts, and little notes, with smiles and sometimes with tears. Sometimes we show our love by just keeping quiet and not saying a word, at other times by speaking out, even harshly. We show our love sometimes by impulsiveness.

Many times we have to show our love by forgiving someone who has not listened to the love we have tried to express. The problem is listening for love is that we don’t always understand the language of love, which the other person is using. A girl may use tears or emotions to say what she wants to say, and her boyfriend may not understand her because he expects her to be talking his language.

We have to force ourselves to really listen for love. The problem with our world is that people rarely listen to each other. They hear the words, but they don’t listen to the actions that accompany the words or the expression on the face. Or people listen only for rejection or misunderstanding. They do not see the love that is there just beneath the surface, even if the words are angry.

Simon and Garfunkel wrote that very haunting song, The Sound of Silence . It goes: Ten thousand people, maybe more. People talking without speaking; people hearing without listening; people writing songs that voices never shared, because no one dared disturb the sound of silence... It is a terrifying picture of our modern world, a world without communication and without love.

We have to listen for love in those around us. If we listen intently we will discover that we are a lot more loved than we realise.

When I hear  the  3 word letters  I LOVE YOU. with a but..it's like an allergy... You get hives..but yet you feel so sick.  Also, it feels like a leech that sucks your blood all the time.. you know it is sucking your blood so painfully  but you are just so  numb to feel it.   ;D ;D ;DHearing  someone say I love you with a but  is just as painfull when they prick you. and when u hear it from someone who truly loves you..and whisper in your ear just the words  i love you...its sounds like the angels are serenading you!!!! ;D ;D [smiley=iloveyou.gif] [smiley=iloveyou.gif]

I have loved without being loved in return.  Sad, as it may seem but not really after realizing I can do it.  It is true, some people can find joy just by the thought and feeling of loving someone.

Pakner, admit it, it's easier to say the words, have it read but finding the true meaning and honestly that goes along with it is quite too difficult.  Might as well feel it when someone says it to you rather than search for proofs.  If the guy is a good actor, he can give all the proofs you need and still a disaster.  Believing and not believing it is a great risk to take.

You were right there lou about women being an actress too, well, maybe women were more convincing than men, or it could be just it all depends on how uncorrupted the recepient is.  Anyway, here in the Philippines, I think most women love to hear the magic words "I love you" first.  Showing it rather than telling first I love you is open to more interpretations.  First, is perhaps the guy was just taking advantage of the woman's vulnerability.  Second,  he might just fooling around and it's common here considering the ratio between man and woman is 1:7.  (oops correct me if i'm wrong) I think the word I love you holds strong bond to the relationship.  That's from my point of view okay.  I don't think it's hard to say the words when in itself it is truly felt.  A typical Filipina expects to hear the magic words first.  Proving and working to make it last is another matter though.
