Title: The Amazing Race: Fifth Season Post by need4speed8dalejr on Jun 30th, 2004, 11:48am The Amazing Race One if not The best reality show premiers it's fifth season on Tuesday July 6th with a 90 minute episode on CBS. Host Phil Keoghan returns for the fifth season as he kicks off this season's opening show on the Santa Monica Pier in California. As 11 teams dash around the globe in pursuit of a 1 million dollar prize. The eleven teams are: Linda 45 & Karen: Best friends and self-proclaimed bowling moms from Palmdale California. They look sweet, but they are in it to win. "I think it's going to work to our advantage", Linda says. "They'll say 'Those are the friendly moms', and we will zomp 'em one by one." Chip 46 & Kim 44: Other teams representing the 40-something set are Chip and Kim, married for 26 years, parents of three, and co-owners of their own computer company. Bob 61& Joyce 54: A widow and a widower who met on the Internet, they are, at age 61 and 54, the competition's oldest participants, a fact that they say they will use to their advantage. Kami 26 & Karlie 26: It wouldn't be The Amazing Race without a set of identical twins. This time out, there's feisty Kami and Karlie from Eugene Oregon. Says Kami, "part of this race will include doing what we're good at, which is..."in unison with Karlie, she concludes, "...manipulating". Marshall 31 & Lance: Just as feisty are these New York brothers who moved to Dallas to open up a pizzeria. Says Lance, "We don't get along, we fight all the time, we don't agree." Marchall adds, "We're the exact opposite in terms of thought process, personality, everything we do." Brandon 25 & Nicole 21: This is one of two teams that include a beauty pageant winner. Nicole was Ms. Texas in 2003. Christie 26 & Colin 24: Christie, a former Ms. Teen USA, plans on using her pageant experience to help herself and her boyfriend, Colin, cross the finish line first. Erika 25 & Dennis 27: These upstate New Yorkers were engaged untill Dennis learned of Erika's passion for sky diving without clothes. He has since called off the nuptials. He says, "I flipped out. I didn't expect her to come down naked skydiving. She thinks it's a big joke." Jim & Marcia 26: They are not your typical father and daughter. He's a former Vietnam vet and she's a former NFL cheerleader. Charla 27 & Mirna 27: Charla is the show's first little person who hopes to shatter many common stereotypes when she competes with her cousin, Mirna. Says Charla, "The image people get when they first see me, they think I can't do anything. They think I'm not capable. This is totally wrong. I'm capable of doing anything and everything." Alison 23 & Donnie: In another first, Alison is a former reality star who wants a second chance to seek fame and fortune- this time, with her boyfriend, Donny. She says, "I was on Big Brother and came in second place. And I did alot of bad things." This show is always entertaining and brings out some of the best and worst in the contestants. I am a serious reality show junkie, and after Survivor All-Stars ended I have been left without a quality reality show to park my azz on the couch each week and look forward to watching. Can't wait. |

Title: Re: The Amazing Race: Fifth Season Post by need4speed8dalejr on Jul 6th, 2004, 11:49pm Yah...Cathy, I won't post anything too specific 'till you have watched it. I am watching it again...I always tend to miss a couple of things 'cause the action happens so fast. I will however..tell you that there is an incident with raw beef...100lb's to be exact. And one team has a bloody accident that requires medical attention. Ohh dear..said too much already. There is a new feature this season. The "Yield" feature. The Yield station is located once in every leg, and teams that reach it can choose a picture of another team and use their Yield option. This option means that the choosen team must stop for a period of 30 minutes when they have reached the Yield station. Teams may only use their Yield feature once in the game similar to the "Fast forward". I can already put most of the teams into the "Wolves", teams who are smart & fast, and the "Sheep", teams who don't really think their moves out much and just tend to follow the others. I am sure if some of the teams don't smarten up their days in the game may be numbered. Ohhh I wanna post about specific events and team actions...but will hold off until Cathy has seen the show. [smiley=catsmiley.gif] Wednesday night at 9:00PM...thanks. So that is my Thursday morning..9:00AM. Ok...will hold off posting any serious events until then each week. |

Title: Re: The Amazing Race: Fifth Season Post by need4speed8dalejr on Jul 16th, 2004, 7:37pm Allison & Donnie were the last team to arrive at the pit stop and were eliminated from the race in the second episode. Rats!! I thought they were going to win, and I so wanted to watch them fight with each other every week all across the Globe. Ohh well. I noticed in the preview for the upcoming episode that they will travel here to Montreal. I recognized the airport logos. Ohhh..can't wait for them to run past me on the street somewhere. LOL. Well, I really didn't see this coming. The team of Charla & Mirna have been doing very well in the first two episodes. Charla is the first "Little Person" aka midget to compete in the show, and I gotta tell ya. She says some of the dumbest things, and therefore funniest things on the show. Ohhh they are great. I just hope their general lack of any sense of direction will not catch up with them soon. |
||
Title: Re: The Amazing Race: Fifth Season Post by mylane on Aug 4th, 2004, 9:07am I'm really hoping that Mirna and Charla wins..ahihihi... my personal fave ;D The episode where they need to find a white inside all that chocolates was really frustrating. |

Title: Re: The Amazing Race: Fifth Season Post by need4speed8dalejr on Aug 5th, 2004, 3:08am Here are a few random thoughts about what has happened in the AR #5 so far. Mymy, I am begining to think that Charla & Mirna are gonna kick everyone's azz!! LOL Every week I watch, and every week they seem to be in the front few couples. They made me laugh sooo hard when they asked for directions. LOL. Ohh, I think they were in Patagonia when they stopped at a gas station and Mirna was asking some dude for directions in her broken Spanish, when Charla said "Let me try". She started to ask him in English but was talking Sooo....Slooooowwww. I laughed so hard that I wet myself. JK...as if English slowly pronounced was going to make any difference...Ohh Nelly! But it was funny. And in that same episode Charla almost disapeared in the foam in the "foam club". Ohhh...those two are the most interesting couple in the show. It wouldn't surprise me at all if they won. Those two are serious competitors. I heard somewhere that Mirna is a lawyer. Does anyone know if that is true? Just wondering. What else happened...Hmmm. I think that the Caviar Roadblock was one of the toughest things that the contestants have ever had to do. That was one HUGE bowl of fish eggs! I think that Chip had the technique down when he swallowed a big spoonful of caviar and juice at the same time. He finished that bowl in no time. I really thought that Colin & Christie made a mistake when they took the fast forward. I mean they had such a huge lead on everyone else at that point and to take it when they really didn't need to use it was just a waste. IMHO that is. I can see what they were trying to do, to get such a huge lead that would give them a real boost that would hopefully carry over into the next few legs of the race. But we all know that often airports will bunch up alot of teams because the producers of the show don't like teams to get too far ahead. They like them to be at each others throats. LOL. Anyways...Phil said that there was only two sections in the race where the fast-forward will be available to use. I guess they might as well be one of those teams to get the jump on all the other teams. And how about the new "no money" feature for the last place team?? Wowwww!! I didn't hear anything about that and it was a shock when Phil said they will have no money for the next leg of the race. Whhooo-Weee!! That should really make things interesting for the "Bowling Moms". I have never seen The Pyramids at dusk with the lights on them. Simply Breathtaking!! It made me want to go there....ohhh...dangit. Well...most of the places they went already made me want to go there. But the Pyramids at dusk was sooo romantic. I want to take my gal there and soak it all in. I just imagined standing there holding my gal...saying nothing but enjoying the moment and marveling at one of the wonders of the World. Ahhh...if only I could find a gal to go with me....and to find the time. Dang...I am sooo busy, but I think I could make time for Egypy. I really am starting to pull for Colin & Christie. I think that Christie really showed me something when she ate all those fish eggs. She cried and moaned so much about how gross they tasted. (Heck...I would of been saying that too) But when the pressure was on and if she didn't finish the bowl they would of been in jeopardy of being knocked out of the race. Christie just did what she had to do...she finished it fast!! Way to go Gurl!! I think Colin (If I was him) should of been behind Christie massaging her shoulders and whispering words of encouragement into her ears. She needed to be told that she could do it. Seriousl Though Christie is such a babe...she has the whole package. Mmmmm!! |

Phil has a column called "The Amazing Race Insider". I just found it today and have yet to read what he has to say. It says that Phil writes about each episode. Hmmm...gotta read that. Title: Re: The Amazing Race: Fifth Season Post by need4speed8dalejr on Aug 22nd, 2004, 5:32pm Yah Mymy, that was a shock to me too! :o I guess the groups are so close to one another because there just doesn't seem to be any more "weak" teams, that one mistake will either put you near the end of the pack or boot their azz out. I thought for sure that Phil was gonna tell them that this was one of the races' non-elimination legs.... but it wasn't. Ohh well. They really raced hard and very smart. To be honest at the begining of the show I thought they wouldn't make it past the third week. But hey... that was just based on Charla's lack of size. But did she show me...and all their competitors and all the people watching too... that she could get the job done. Indeed she can! It says in their Bio on www.cbs.com that Mirna is indeed a Lawyer...and that Charla is married (??) and that she owns/manages a chain of sports stores. It seems she isn't afraid of anything in this World. You go gurl! 8) |

Title: Re: The Amazing Race: Fifth Season Post by kianna_andrea on Sep 21st, 2004, 9:58pm Just done watching The Amazing Race5, Philippines. And I am soo proud. They went to Cavite, The Coconut Palace. The Luneta park/Rizal Monument and then to El Nido, Palawan. I am soo proud they liked the Philippines. El Nido is just beautiful. Nichole said it was amazing. I like Brandon. ;D He's cute in a different way and he seems so kind. (lol) Too bad they didn't win. I wanted Brandon and Nicole to win. :-/ Chip and Kim did. Sowee,... couldn't keep my mouth shut. :-X |

Title: Re: The Amazing Race: Fifth Season Post by mylane on Sep 22nd, 2004, 10:26am shit chip and kim is the official winner. I bet for Colin and Cristie. :'( Brandon is real nice, very calm. I don't like his gurlfrend cause Nicole freak out so easily. Between Colin and Brandon.....hmmm....kinda hard choice. I like Colin's attitude somehow, that kind of guy can really tolerate a woman. Not to mention he is very logical and have a very good strategy. Brandon is so sweet, he wouldn't even argue with you. Palawan is where you can find the virgin forest of the PI. Now I know why a good friend of mine keep inviting me to Palawan. ;D Where is Dale? Lets hear Dale's opinion about the Philippines episode and the outcome of the race ;D |

Title: Re: The Amazing Race: Fifth Season Post by kianna_andrea on Sep 23rd, 2004, 1:53am Colin and Christie were really competitive right from the start 'til the last. I was amazed how they handled the "maze" thing. You can tell they're really good at it. No wonder they've been the first team to arrive at the pitstop 6 times. I guess Kim and Chip just got lucky. They knew that the flight from Denver to Dallas was delayed for two hours that's why they were able to book for another flight. I guess they are really meant to win, because I am betting that if they all were in the same flight, Colin and Christie could've won. I don't like Colin at all. Sure he's smart and very competitive but he can be pretty arrogant sometimes. He flares up easily and curses a lot. ;D Lol I was laughing when he couldn't control the carabao (water buffalo). The carabao seemed like it was throwing a tantrum. ;D I really like Brandon. You're right My, he was really sweet and very religious as well. He would always say "Thank God, Amen,"....etc. and he was just super sweet to Nicole. Nicole sure is lucky. I want to find a guy like Brandon. ::) Nicole was fine but she have the tendency to cry and get hysterical when things get tough. Palawan is really beautiful. I am proud. ;D |
||
Title: Re: The Amazing Race: Fifth Season Post by mylane on Sep 23rd, 2004, 2:01am I was laughing when Colin said if Christie can put up with me then we can be together forever. Yeah Colin is very arrogant, but the good part is he got a right to be one. I like his attitude. A type of man that can talk the talk and also can walk the walk. Though he doesn't know wat the Philippine flag look like....hahahahaha..... ;D As for Nicole and Brandon, Nicole always did the wrong decision like the bike instead of slide. Grrrrrrrrrrr....Chip and Kim won dammit. |
||
Title: Re: The Amazing Race: Fifth Season Post by kianna_andrea on Sep 23rd, 2004, 2:55am Yes that part was pretty funny. But I guess it just goes to show that Colin admits that he can be "too much" to handle at times, and I think that's a good point. ;D And he was really pissed because he doesn't know what the Philippine flag looks like. "We should've had a tour guide." And he said that it's his fault because he is just an ignorant American who doesn't know what the Philippined flag is like. ;D But Christie said the sweetest thing: "There is no one I'd rather be with right now but Colin" :D (not sure if that's the exact words. ;D) The problem with Nicole and Brandon is that they can't seem to decide quickly. And you're right, Nicole always seem to make the wrong decision. ;D Brandon always let her decide most of the time I guess. But I still think Brandon is cute. The two looks like Flo and Zach in the AR3. But Brandon is definitely cuter than Zach. Lol. Now where's Dale? |

Yep... I will do that after I post my "Final" thoughts on Season 5. Thanks Tarantada ;D Ohh..where do I begin?? Let me start with the final three teams. Brandon & Nicole These two have serious relationship issues. Brandon means well, and has this "God's Will" outlook that serves him well most of the time, but other times get him into a whole wack of trouble. Like the time they were on the bus in Africa. He wasn't really thinking that he was in danger, that changed quickly once he got where they were going. Ohh well... But on the other hand..his faith has brought him closer to people he & Nicole have met along the way. Nicole has some serious "fear" issues. She can't deal with stress very well. Like when they were in Calgary, and they had to go down the mountain either on mountain bikes, or on the luge. She totally freaked out and started crying. She regressed into a mental state I like to call "Women's Last Hope". LOL, When all else fails...Stop, curl yourself into a ball, and CRY!! LMAO. I know alot of people..men and women who do this, and can't really deal with stress all that well. And to be fair, the show puts huge amounts of stress onto a relationship, and the cameras are there pointed squarely in their faces to capture it all. Ohh Nelly! Brandon & Nicole don't really make a good couple. IMHO They are far too different. I think from the vibes I noticed during the show, that Brandon is very serious about NOT having sex or fooling around before marriage, but Nicole I think is more open to the option. She seems very sexually frustrated. Ohh dear...did I just say that? Ya..I did! Yowwzza! Next!! Colin & Christie Ohh....Poor Souls!! Ok....Colin is SUPER intense. something tells me he is like that in real life as well. Forever the perfectionist, he demands nothing but the best effort from himself, and those around him. But his intensity let him down just when he needed it the most, on the last leg of the race. He should of known to double-check the flights to Dallas. He let the race slip through his fingers. Even when the teams were on the mountain in Calgary, I noticed the fog. Maybe being from Canada, I knew what that meant.....Airport delays! He should of slept at the airport, knowing full well that he was slightly behind and getting the earliest possible flight out was his key to winning, and the Million Dollars! Christie, IMHO...deserves better. I agree that they make a good couple, but, she seems always bending over backwards to please Colin, but he doesn't seem to notice, or if he does, doesn't acknowledge that she is even trying. Christie...is a GODDESS!! She is smart, sexy and has the patience of an Angel. Ok...I am sure she has her Grumpy side, but don't we all? Alright...enough drooling. LMAO This is the problem with these two, they "Think" they are smarter than everyone else. While they did dominate most of the sections during the Fifth Season, they did with relative ease, and didn't really focus at the task at hand when they needed to most. They also underestimated the two other couples in the final legs of the race. They felt so secure that they never double-checked the most important things (Fight Times) and didn't use the "Yield" feature to try to kick one of the most competitive teams Chip & Kim off the show before they were in the final legs. They were lulled into a false sense of security by Chip & Kim, and never did see them as a direct threat. A HUGE mistake! And when Chip & Kim played the game with a "forward looking vision", and used the "Yield" on Colin & Christie, they looked at it as a knife in the back. No GUYS!! They were just playing the game SMARTER!! Ohh well..who says you can't teach old dogs new tricks? Chip & Kim These guys were good! Looking back at it, I didn't want them to win. I felt as if they somehow "cheated" and that Colin & Christie should of won, after all they lead most of the race and clearly were the best team. Well, the best doesn't always finish first ehh! I just think that Chip & Kim played a much smarter race. They used their heads, and after a few almost fatal mistakes at the begining, played error free the second half. They also seemed to be having a much better time. They interacted with the people they met along the way on the same level...just people who live in different parts of the World...none better than others. They also seemed to be truly excited about what they were doing and where they have visited and were doing. They DESERVED to win. If nothing more than on a purly "Karma Level". Ohh..Can't wait for next season! And We don't have to wait very long Ehh! |

Title: Re: The Amazing Race: Fifth Season Post by need4speed8dalejr on Nov 15th, 2004, 9:05am Was it just me...or did anyone else find the beaches and the water of the P.I. to be truly Amazing!! The sand was soooo clean..and the water was just as clear, with this blueish/greenish tint as it shimmered in the sunlight. Ahhhhh...I didn't think sure a place existed. I thought they only exist in the movies...LMAO. Ok..Calm down Dale! Well...is most of the P.I. like that? The beaches so amazing...and the water so inviting...and the women so beautiful? At least now when the temperature is -30 degrees below Zero, I will have a mental image of where I would rather be. On that beach!! |
