Best Picture, Actor, Actress?  What are your choices?

::)

I saw all the movies up for best picture except Lords of the Ring. I think Mystic River will win Best Picture.

Best Actor- This is tuff cuz Sean Penn in Mysitic River gave a real convincing performance. And Johnny Depp played this strange and odd character in Pirates of the Carribean, but I think this will go to Bill Murry for his character in Lost in Translation. Bill Murray is a underated actor i think and this year he will win.

Best Actress- Well i liked Uma Thurmands performance in Kill Bill but thats not up. I only saw two of the movies here. Charlize Theron deserves to win for her performance, but i dont think the acadamy will give it to her for playing a serial killer. She was so damn ugly in this movie. So it will be Diane Keaten who wins best actress in the movie Somethings Got to Give. She did a good job if she wasnt in this movie the movie probably would of sucked.

Supporting Actor-Im gonna go with Ken Wantanabe in The Last Samurai. He should be nominated in best actor category but if he was he probably wouldnt win so its probably good that he is nominated for supporting actor where he has a better chance of winning.

Supporting Actress- I only saw Renee Zellweger in Cold Mountain and Marcia Harden in Mystic River in this category. I didnt like the movie Cold Mountain at all except for the Civil War fighting scenes. So i will say Marcia Harden for Mysitic River.

Best Director- I didnt see City of God or Lords of the Ring. But i think Clint Eastwood will win his 2nd oscar for direction(first was for western Unforgiven) in Mystic River.

Well i guess the acadamy will have to give Lords of the Ring all the awards for make up and costume and special effects. Personally i dont think sequels should be nominated.

I would like put my 2 cents in. I agree with Beast that sequels shouldnt be nominated. But I would also like to point out and emphasize that LOTR  Parts 1, 2 and 3 were simultaneously filmed and it was made that way because ---to put it together in one screening, one has to have an ironclad bladder and an incredibly lengthy free time. Parts 2 and 3 were not AFTERTHOUGHTS of Peter Jackson. It was already conceived at the very beginning that it has to be a 3 part movie because thats how it was written by JRR Tolkien. The problem was the length. I'm sure he did not say, "Oh look, Fellowship was such a big hit...lets make a sequel and rake in more dollars!" As thats how most sequels are born.

I guess it goes without saying that my bet for the Best Picture award is LOTR as this award is long overdue. Although LOTR is not an "acting" film (no long range of emotions/drama required from actors) LOTR has made a cinematic history and to continue to ignore it would be quite a shame. For far too long they have ignored this magnificent epic. It's time LOTR should be acknowledged.

Best Director - Peter Jackson (no need to ask why)

Best Actor - Sean Penn (Mystic River) The Academy is wary of Sean Penn. He hates the "establishment" but he is an exemplary actor. I wouldnt be surprise if he bags this one. I also like Johnny Depp (Pirates of the Caribbean) to win but I'm thinking acting-wise, Mystic River has more clout, more power, savvy?

Best Actress - Its a toss between Charlize Theron (Monster) and Diane Keaton (Something's Gotta Give). I'm thinking that they will give the award to Diane as this is also long overdue. Charlize is young...she will do more films that will garner her this most coveted award.

Musical Score - Lord of the Rings

Best Supporting Actress - If Renee Zellwegger (Cold Mountain) wins, I wouldnt be surprised. She is everyone's favorite, including The Academy's. But I like Marcia Gay Harden (Mystic River). She's always been a favorite of mine.

Best Supporting Actor - Ken Watanabe (The Last Samurai) . Wooooohoooo. Epitome of masculinity! But if the Golden Globe is the prognosticator of the Oscars, then this award will go to Tim Robbins (Mystic River).

Animated Film - Finding Nemo. Dorie (voice Ellen DeGeneres)  was just so darn cute. "Why are you following me?!?"

Screenplay - Lost in Translation. Sophia Coppola. They are all infatuated with her talent as I am. She is truly her father's daughter.

PS... Back in 1974, The Godfather II won not only the Best Picture Award but Best Supporting Actor (Robert Deniro), Best Director (Francis Ford Coppola).

The movie became the first sequel to win the Best Picture Award.

Sean Penn won the best actor award, like I always thought ;D

Title: Oscars 2005
Post by teagirl on Feb 14th, 2005, 5:37am

Its that time of the year again when the glitzy and the glamorous come out of the woodwork to accept the prize for an exemplary work in the art of movies, The Oscars.

My bets are:

Best Actor in Lead Role - I want Jamie Foxx in Ray to win. Forget diCaprio in The Aviator. I don't want no smug looking little kid. I want Foxx to win this validation. Of course, I would have wanted Johnny Depp in Finding Neverland to win this too but there'll be other times, Johnny. There'll be other times.

Best Actress in Lead Role - Its a toss between Annette Benning in Being Julia and Hillary Swank in Million Dollar Baby. Folks, history repeats itself. Benning and Swank fought for this prestigious award back in 1999. Benning in American Beauty and Swank in Boys Don't Cry and the latter garnered the prize. This time, I want graciousness-personified Annette Benning to win, win, win!

Best Actor in Supporting Role - step away, Clive Owen. I want Morgan Freeman. This man is one helluva class act.

Best Actress in Supporting Role - Cate Blanchett in The Aviator, my beautiful, all time favorite, versatile, surprising, golden haired actress. I love Laura Linney too but I love Cate more.

Best Animated Film - As I thought, The Incredibles will be a strong contender against Shrek 2 for this category. Hmmmmm, red vs. green. I'd go for red. Incredibly Incredible!!

Best Director - Hopefully its this will be the year for Martin Scorcese. *I'm not worthy, I'm not worthy*

Best Picture - Ahhh....let me watch all the nominees first except for The Aviator. I vehemently, passionately hate Leonardo diCaprio.

well i havent seen all the movies up for best picture but i seen the 2 leading contenders.
First of all its a crime that Passion wanst even nominated. The nations most grossing sales movie at the box office and the best movie about Jesus Christ I have ever seen and it isnt even nominated. Hell maybe it dont deserve to win but at least it should be nominated.

The Aviator was a good movie. It was a historical epic about Howard Hughes, but even though Martin Scorcese has never won an oscar but probably should of for Goodfellas, Raging Bull, and even Taxi Driver, I dont think he will win this year either. Million Dollar babies will win both best pic and best direction by Clint Eastwood. Eastwoods Million Dollar babies is a great movie. Very well acted by its cast. Very dramatic movie with all kinds of issues that make you think what is right or wrong. Hollywood loves Clint because he always makes movies that make money and dont cost a whole lot to make. Even though Aviator is a good movie it was a movie that was about a persons life. To me thats an easier movie to make.

Best Actor will probably go to Jamie Fox and his portrayal of Ray Charles. I saw Ray it was a good movie and even though Jamie Fox did a real good job I still like Jamie Fox role in Collateral better. Im not sure if the same person has ever won in 2 different categories b4. Anyway Morgan Freeman will win probably for his supporting performance in Million Dollar Babies.

Best Actress go  to Hillary Swank in Million Dollar Baby. I think Million Dollar Baby will win the most awards.

Best Supporting actress only movie i saw was The Aviator with Cate Blanchett. She was good but I have always been a Natalie Portman fan. Not only is a very good actress, she is pretty and very smart to boot. So I pick Natalie Portman.
