omg, anna is gonna recommend medical books??  :o
nope, I just wont read em, anna...no wayyyyyyy.

To mylene, here are a few books that have earned 3 thumbs up (borrowing madd's thumb for the 3rd thumb)

1. The Little Prince - Antoine de St. Exupery
2. The Greatest Miracle in The World - Og Mandino
3. The God of Small Things - Arundhati Roy

These books are exemplary reads and I assure you, you will really enjoy them. I've not read them only once but a lot of times and almost always, I discover a facet from the book that I wasnt able to pick up the first time I read it.

However if you enjoy whodunnits like I do with a dash of forensic science, I highly recommend Thomas Harris' Hannibal Lecter trilogy if you havent read them:

1. Red Dragon
2. The Silence of the Lambs
3. Hannibal

Harris is the first author that I have read who wrote about a serial killer with such intellect that you almost wonder how he was conceived in Harris' mind. Is fiction based on truth? I'm sure there are a lot of good criminal/forensic fiction books out there but I haven't had the opportunity to read them.

Patricia Cornwell writes about forensic medicine too in her books starring Dr. Kay Scarpetta but most of the time, its just a light read...you know, keeps your entertained late at night when you aren't sleepy.

Oh gosh...there are so many books to recommend, so little time...

well, I think that Hannibal Lector books can be considered "medical" in a way....they have something to do with dissection.
eeeewwwwwwwww
;D

A good book I read about 3 years ago called "Who Moved My Cheese"- An amazing way to deal with change at work and in life. by Spencer Johnson

Well for the dudes I recommend books about sports I just read Seabiscuit. This book is a biography of the horse and his owners and the historical aspects of the great depression years.

Bootleggers Boy an autobiography of Coach Barry Switzer and the Oklahoma Univestiy Sooners football team in the 70s and 80s.

The Undefeated by Jim Dent a book about Oklahoma Universtity Sooner football and their winning streak from 1953 to 1957. This winning streak still stands today.(if u dont like oklahoma football thats cool, but these 2 books have some real funny stories in them)

Friday Night Lights by H.G. Bissinger a book about High School football in Odessa, Texas.

Fiction sport books that are good are:
North Dallas Forty(very humerous but real look at the game)
Semi Tough (just plain knee slapping funny)

My all time favorite book is Little Women by Louisa May Alcott..... it's a very good book.... reading it makes you feel like you're part of the March family. I've read it about three times already and I have always enjoyed it. I don't recommend it for guys though for it's quite girlish.  ;)
Great Expectations by Charles dickens is great too.  :) I don't like the ending though... I wish life has been more kind to Pip and Estella.  ;)
John Grisham's books are a good read too. At first I thought it's boring. All those law stuff... and I'm not even interested in law. :D The Firm, The Client, A Time to Kill, The Runaway Jury, The Testament.... give them a try. It's worth it.  ;)

Mayy giving up reading medicine books already?  ;D you will still read more when you practice..only there's a bit difference...you will be reading medical journals more..  :P i think being a doctor is what i can't do..financially, emotionally, physically, etc. wise  ;D and it's the reading, reading, and reading the books that discouraged me.. i wonder where these medicine students get the energy of reading 10 chapters or more everyday..

anyway may, i'll gladly recommend these books for you:

- William's obstetrics
- NElson's textbook of pediatrics
- Snell. Clinical anatomy
-etc, etc..hehe

And Ree, I can recommend a medicine book of ocean vacation places... and that's Hematology  book ;D

Williams Obstetrics - read that
Nelson's Pediatrics - read that
Snell's Clinical Anatomy - read that

Thanks for the recommendation, Anna. Are you gonna give me the whole list of the medschool textbooks??? I'm done schooling, I'm not a medical student anymore :P

However, if you have the complete National Medical Series Reviewers and the Board Review Series then I would like to borrow them. :P

LOL ana those are good books to have as a reference but If u can sit down and read them I guess thats good.

I just finished 2 paperbacks writen by noteable authors but not their normal kind of subjects.

Bleachers by John Grisham-This book has nothing to do with the law at all. Its about a old high school qaurterback in football going back to his hometown to the funeral of  his high school football coach.

The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon by Stephen King. This isnt a horror story but a story about a little girl who gets lost in the woods and in order to deal with it she pretends that Tom Gordon is helping here find her way back. Tom Gordon is a relief pitcher in baseball for the Boston Red Sox.

2 good books that I read while in Walt Disney World

Veronica Decides to Die by Paulo Ceollo is a book that answers a question i have been asking for a long time. It expounds the topic of sanity, in relation to life and love.

I recommend this novel to people who might have at one point in their  life wondered whether they are crazy or not.

I liked the books by Harlan Coben like his latest - Just One Look

You really should Annie, Teamay has such a good influence on me  when it comes to the books I read, she is just sooo well-read and I trust that when she recommends  something I would surely love it.
