Isn't it nice sometimes when we get to read a poem which can describe exactly what we feel?..... I believe poems are the most beautiful form of literature.....  :)there's just something about it that captures the heart of anyone who reads them....
I made this topic for those who love poems like I do... Please share some of your favorites..... it can be your own composition too......... ;) thanks....  :-*

My Vow To You

When you are sad, I will dry your tears
When you are scared, I will comfort your fears
When you need love, my heart I will share
When you are sick, for you I will care

You will feel my love when we are apart
Knowing that nothing will change my heart
When you are worried, I will give you hope
When you are confused, I will help you cope

When you are lost, and can’t see the light
My love will be a beacon, shining ever so bright
This is my vow, one that I pledge till the end
For you above all are my wife and best friend

These words I have written, speak of my love for you
From my lips these words spoken, shall always ring true
God has blessed me, and with your hand in mine
Both of our hearts, will forever intertwine

Into all lives, falls pain and sorrows,
I promise together, we will meet all tomorrows
Happy in marriage, honor and love
blessed in unity by God above

;) ;) :-*

BUTTERFLIES

Suddenly I get this feeling
My mind draws a blank
My hands are slightly shaking
My heart begins to race

I feel like I'm losing control
I'm nervous inside and out
I have an unexplainable feeling
I wish I could figure this out

These butterflies inside of me
Keep fluttering all throughout
I thought they were gone for good
I didn't know they could come out

It must be the way
You get to me like you do
The way you make me feel
The way I love you like I do...  :)

Now I go on
by Cynthia R

I remember the day,
you decided to leave.
I had so much to do,
and so much to achieve.

You said it was over,
then I started to cry.
It broke my heart,
that you had to say good-bye.

I knew that I loved you,
but that wasn't enough.
I knew in my heart,
that I had to be tough.

I tried to be happy,
I tried to be strong.
But deep inside,
I knew it was wrong.

I wanted to go on,
but I didn't know how.
I wish you could see me,
especially now.

It's been a whole year now,
since you've been gone.
I did what I wanted,
and then I went on.

I have a new boyfriend,
he's a dream come true.
He makes me so happy,
he's nothing like you.

He doesn't try to hurt me,
or even make me cry.
If I had to go back to you,
I think I'd rather die.

I'm never going to hurt that way,
the way you hurt me so.
The way you broke my heart that day,
when you said you had to go.

So now I'm going to walk away,
and do what you did to me back then.
But now I'll walk into the arms,
of my hero, my love, my best friend.

;) ;)

I'M MISSING YOU

Why can't I speak when I have so much to tell?
Why can't I write when I have so much in mind?
Why can't I sing when there's music in my heart?
Why can't I dance when there's rythm in the air?

Too many words left unspoken
Too many things left undone
Why can't it be and why can't I?
For all I know this pain deep inside
Took the gladness from my heart.

Is this the pain of missing you?
Is this the reason behind it all?

Hear the agony of my heart
Longing for you and for your touch
Feeling your lips, feeling your face
Missing your kisses and warm embrace.

When will the waiting ever be over?
For as long as were apart I can never be whole
Oh! My Dearest
I just want you to know
That my heart is aching because
"I'M MISSING YOU!"

I CAN'T HAVE YOU

If loving you is wrong
Then my heart knows not what is right
I cry myself to sleep
Every second of the night
What is there to do?
What is there to say?
I know I can't have you
But still I give my heart away

I’d walk a thousand miles
And cry a thousand tears
Just to know your love
Will be waiting for me
But what is there to feel?
When you don’t feel the same?
I know I can’t have you
But still I give my love away

You are my dream come true
I wished upon a star for you
But what am I to know?
If you really love me so
I know I can’t have you
But still I give myself away

The Impossible Adventure

We often want love
without love's pain,
and then grumble
that love has passed us by
But would we have wanted love
at the price love asks
or on our own terms?

Love does not bargain,
it does not bend to diplomacy.
It takes all or nothing.
It might blow you anywhere.
You will never be safe,
if you let love in,
never be safe again

This is one of my favorites written by WH Auden:

IX

Stop all the clocks, cut off the telephone.
Prevent the dog from barking with a juicy bone.
Silence the pianos and with muffled drum
Bring out the coffin, let the mourners come.

Let aeroplanes circle moaning overhead
Scribbling on the sky the message He Is Dead.
Put crêpe bows round the white necks of the public doves,
Let the traffic policemen wear black cotton gloves.

He was my North, my South, my East and West,
My working week and my Sunday rest,
My noon, my midnight, my talk, my song;
I thought that love would last forever: I was wrong.

The stars are not wanted now: put out every one;
Pack up the moon and dismantle the sun;
Pour away the ocean and sweep up the wood;
For nothing now can ever come to any good.

As a singer/songwriter I write my own lyrics. Here's one I thought I'd share. I wrote this Feb 13th 2002. My work is also copywritten.

I still love you

Loves not always fun and bright
troubles will come your way
we don't agree on what we say
and it sometimes will cause us to fight

Emotional anger will take control
our views will disagree
frustration and love has got to be
in order for us to become 1 soul

Love will sometimes try and hide
when mad and not thinking
words can hurt when your speaking
no one wants to give up there pride

I'm not ashamed to admit my own errors
because I'm not always right
God knows I'm not looking for a fight
cus my heart's big and I'm a man who care

As I look back through the years
the good times and the bad
most of the times fun, but some sad
living through the laughter and the tears

Thank you so much for always being there
helping me through my mistakes
admitting my faults is what it takes
for some men saying "I'm sorry" is rare

I know there's times we don't agree
I know there's times my eyes don't see
I know I sometimes say things I don't want to
and even though we don't see things eye to eye, I still love you

For who you are I still love you
For what you've become I still love you
If right or wrong I still love you
Now and forever I still love you

Thanks Tina... :) I searched for that whole poem when I heard it on "Four Weddings and A Funeral" Its been one of my favorites since.

Here's another one by ee cummings titled:

somewhere i have never travelled

somewhere i have never travelled
gladly beyond any experience
your eyes have their silence :
in your most frail gesture are things which enclose me
or which i cannot touch because they are too near

your slightest look easily will enclose me
though i have closed myself as fingers
you open always petal by petal myself
as Spring opens [touching skilfully, mysteriously] her
first rose

or if you wish be to close me,
i and my life will shut beautifully, suddenly, as when
the heart
of this flower imagines
the snow carefully, everywhere descending

nothing which we are to perceive in this world
equals the power of your intense fragility
whose texture compels me
with the colour of its countries
rendering death and forever with each breathing

[i do not know what it is about you that closes and
opens;
only something in me understands]
the voice of your eyes is deeper than all roses
nobody, not even the rain has such small hands

He Wishes for the Cloths of Heaven
William Butler Yeats

Had I the heavens' embroidered cloths,
Enwrought with golden and silver light,
The blue and the dim and the dark cloths
Of night and light and the half-light,
I would spread the cloths under your feet:
But I, being poor, have only my dreams;
I have spread my dreams under your feet;
Tread softly, because you tread on my dreams.

Time Does Not Bring Relief
Edna St. Vincent Millay

Time does not bring relief: you all have lied
Who told me time would ease me of my pain!
I miss him in the weeping of the rain:
I want him at the shrinking of the tide;
The old snows melt from ev'ry mountain side,
And last year's leaves are smoke in every lane;
But last year's bitter loving must remain
Heaped on my heart and my old thoughts abide.
There are a hundred places where I fear
To go, so with his memory they brim.
And entering with relief some quiet place
where never fell his foot or shone his face.
I say "There is no mem'ry of him here,"
And so stand stricken, so remembering him.

Here's another one I wrote.

              Morning sky
I'll close my eyes and see you here
a love that's got to be
A shaken heart full of fear
I got to let her see

The moon above about to break
the stars are fading fast
The eastern sky will soon awake
Will our love forever last

I hear her voice a gentle call
that takes my breath away
Her eyes make me stand up tall
there telling me to stay

The ocean waves are rolling in
the sun is about to rise
The beauty of her tender skin
and the world in her eyes

I watched her walk away from me
after we said goodbey
I knew our love was met to be
I saw it in her eyes

She slowly turned and looked my way
Her smile ten miles wide
and as she spoke I heard her say
"I'll always be by your side"

Life in a Love
by Robert Browning

Escape me?
Never -
Beloved!
While I am I, and you are you,
So long as the world contains us both,
Me the loving and you the loth,
While the one eludes, must the other pursue.
My life is a fault at last, I fear -
It seems too much like a fate, indeed!
Though I do my best I shall scarce succeed -
But what if I fail of my purpose here?

It is but to keep the nerves at strain,
To dry one's eyes and laugh at a fall,
And baffled, get up to begin again, -
So the chase takes up one's life, that's all.
While, look but once from your farthest bound,
At me so deep in the dust and dark,
No sooner the old hope drops to ground
Than a new one, straight to the selfsame mark,
I shape me -
Ever
Removed!

A Little While, A Little While
by Emily Jane Bronte

A little while, a little while,
The weary task is put away,
And I can sing and I can smile,
Alike, while I have holiday.

Why wilt thou go, my harassed heart,
What thought, what scene invites thee now?
What spot, or near or far,
Has rest for thee, my weary brow?

There is a spot, mid barren hills,
Where winter howls, and driving rain;
But if the dreary tempest chills,
There is a light that warms again.

The house is old, the trees are bare,
Moonless above bends twilight's dome;
But what on earth is half so dear,
So longed for, as the hearth of home?

The mute bird sitting on the stone,
The dank moss dripping from the wall,
The thorn-trees gaunt, the walks o'ergrown,
I love them, how I love them all!

Still, as I mused, the naked room,
The alien firelight died away,
And from the midst of cheerless gloom
I passed to bright unclouded day.

A little and a lone green lane
That opened on a common wide;
A distant, dreamy, dim blue chain
Of mountains circling every side;

A heaven so clear, an earth so calm,
So sweet, so soft, so hushed an air;
And, deepening still the dream-like charm,
Wild moor-sheep feeding everywhere.

That was the scene, I knew it well;
I knew the turfy pathway's sweep
That, winding o'er each billowy swell,
Marked out the tracks of wandering sheep.

Even as I stood with raptured eye,
Absorbed in bliss so deep and dear,
My hour of rest had fleeted by,
And back came labour, bondage, care.

:) Someone gave this to me April 3 of last year... 'just thought I might share this... 'tis pretty good... I guess it's just one way for the author to tell me that he can never fully understand women no matter how hard he try  :D (well at least to me it looks that way)...well I think men can never fully understand women as much as women can never understand men....  :) here goes:

She's a sentence without words
A song without a melody
A cold "hot coffee"
But still I love her...

She sings the poems
And reads the songs
Eats the tea...
Drinks the bread...
And still I want her.

Why do I love her?
I don't know....
Maybe she is me
And I am she...

On the lighter side...

I Think That I Shall Never See

I think that I shall never see
a guy who's perfect just for me!
A man's who's bright and doesn't bore me,
who has the good taste to adore me.

One who'll make my insides tingle,
who is (dare I hope it?) single.
And who, if our lips should lock,
can send my hormones into shock!

A man whose passion doesn't wane
when he finds out I've got a brain,
Yet one who'll flatter, charm and flirt
(a lot of money couldn't hurt!)

So if you see my Mr. Right,
feel free to call me day or night!
And if he doesn't come along---
    I'll consider Mr. Wrong!

;D  ;D  ;D

This is a song... But I believe songs are poems too...  :)
One of the many songs that I don't get tired of listening to again and again...

Please Don't Ask Me
John Farnham

Please don't ask me what am I thinking
It's about you
And please don't ask me
I never can see you
What can I do

My first impulse is to run to your side
My heart's not free, and so I must hide
Please don't ask me
What I'm gonna say to you

I toss and turn
Can't sleep at night
It's worrying me,
I go to bed
Turn out the light
But your face I see

It only hurts
The more I pretend
That we could ever
Be more than friends
Please don't ask me
Why I'm so in love with you

You could easily make me happy
That I know
But I try my best to never tell you so
I will sing to you my love songs
And pretend
And I`ll keep the secret
right down to the end

Please don't ask me why I'm not talking
I just can't explain
And please don't ask me
Why I go walking out in the rain

I could not live the lie it would take
To have you here would be a mistake
Please don't ask me
Why I'm still  in love with you
No please don't ask me

Without Words

Your smile tells a story
That I could never read.
As if it were puzzle
Or just a simple mystery.

But your eyes gave me clues
And your touch hints,
So when I looked at your face again
I wasn’t in suspense.

Your smile told me
How I was always on your mind.
And your eyes ask,
“How could you have been so blind?”

So blind not to notice
How you were being touched.
The last clue
That answered the puzzle
That said, “I Love You So Much.”

So when you look at me
In that special kind of way
Without words, I’ll smile back
And you’ll know
What I’m about to say ...

I Love You

Title: Say "I Love You..."
Post by kianna_andrea on Aug 15th, 2004, 6:11am

Say 'I LOVE YOU',
before you close your eyes
for the last depart,
say it,
without restrictions,
even when you cry,
don't be ashamed,
say it, anyway.

Say 'I LOVE YOU',
even though you
hear a hurtful word,
or just the
sound of silence,
just keep on saying,
it might give
the kind of lift
some people need.

Say 'I LOVE YOU',
when you say goodbye
for the last time,
knowing that you lost,
and how much it cost,
don't hold it back,
say it,
not only with your lips,
but especially with your heart...

Say 'I LOVE YOU',
to the ones you love,
but also to the ones
who hate you,
when you're happy,
or feeling blue,
don't be afraid,
that's when miracles
may happen.

Say 'I LOVE YOU',
to melt a heart,
to provoke a smile,
to put the guards down,
to forgive who has
broken your trust,
even to yourself,
talk to the mirror,
say how special you are,
how much you care.

Say 'I LOVE YOU',
to invite someone
to stay in your life,
to strenghten a
friend's faith,
to shake the world,
to project an aura of
cheerfulness,
confidence,
to make your own existence,
a joyful place to be.

A Whisper From My Heart
Anonymous

You used to be a nobody in my life,
An insignificant figure, my knight without his armor.

I never believed in you, I couldn't even care.
All you are was a shadow, a mere glimpse
Of an unfinished craft.
But i proved myself wrong, beyond the shadow of lies.
I saw the real you... I saw you unfold before me.
Revealing the truth of what lies inside.

And in the few moments that we spent together,
I shared with you, one of the best gifts
I have ever received from anyone...
The happiest memories that I will carry with me
Every single day of my life.

And as I prepare to move on, I felt you...
I felt you mock my heart, a thousand times.
More than the pain of a dagger piercing it,
For you took with you my heart.

But I never did hate you, I wouldn't even try.
The bond we share is very special,
I can't afford to tear it apart.
And so, with much happiness I whisper
THANK YOU
Thank you for craving a special place in my heart.

Got this as an offline message. I think it's a great poem, that's why I want to share it here. It's just sad because I don't know the author.  :-/  His nick doesn't ring a bell I wonder who he is.....

With one more look at you....
I could learn to tame the clouds
and let the shun shine through....
Leave the troubles past and I must start anew...
I will solve the mysteries if you are the price...
                      Refresh these tired eyes

With one more look at you...
I might overcome the anger that I learn to know...
Find a peace of mind I lost so long ago....
Your gentle look will make me strong again...
                             and I belong again.........

With One More Look At You

With one more look at you
I could learn to tame the clouds
And let the sunshine through;
Leave a troubled past
And I might start anew
I'd solve the mysteries, if you're the prize
Refresh this tired eyes.

With one more look at you
I might overcome the anger that I learn to know
Find peace of mind I lost so long ago
Your gentle touch had made me strong again
And I belong again

For when you look at me
I'm everything and more than I had dreamed I'd be
My spirit feels a promise, "I won't be alone,'
We'll love and live more, love and live forever

With one more look at you
I'd learn to change the stars
And change the fortunes too;
I'd have the constellations paint your portrait too
So all the world might share this wondrous sight
The world could end each night
With one more look at you.

Its a song titled "With One More Look At You" by Jack Jones. He is the the one who originally sang "She" which was revived by Elvis Costello in the movie Notting Hill. You're right, With One More Look At You is a great "poem" but its just one of my favorite songs.

thinking of you.......
       wondering how you are........

wanting to thank you.......
for giving me enough reason to smile each day........

thank you for your sweetness.........
        thank you for your kindness.........

thank you for your friendship........
         thank you for your time..........

I am not really sure about what I really feel......
And I don't want to raise my hopes up high.......

I am just glad for this feeling
And I know it's because of you.......

Your gentle way of touching my heart,...
   and making it smile.........

The way you make me laugh,.....
and everything in the world seems right.....

I'm comforted by the mere thought of knowing.........
that somehow, I have you to look forward to everyday.

Thank you.

Longing
~~Matthew Arnold~~

Come to me in my dreams, and then
By day I shall be well again!
For then the night will more than pay
The hopeless longing of the day.

Come, as thou cam'st a thousand times,
A messenger from radiant climes,
And smile on thy new world, and be
As kind to others as to me!

Or, as thou never cam'st in sooth,
Come now, and let me dream it truth;
And part my hair, and kiss my brow,
And say: My love! why sufferest thou?

Come to me in my dreams, and then
By day I shall be well again!
For then the night will more than pay
The hopeless longing of the day.

~~Everything I Keep Inside~~

the rain it pours so loud,
I can't even think.

all my thoughts are shattered,
with each crash,
and my dreams are left in the dark,
with each flash.

so I close my eyes,
and get lost in their sound,
because in this place,
my memories are bound.

the cool crisp drops,
splash as they fall,
and my mind wonders off,
following natures call.

this storm seems to settle me,
and my thoughts become clear,
too bad I'm not strong enough,
to let you hear,
everything I keep inside....

This is a poem written by a guy named Alex for someone he's in-love with. This poem is quite sad but touching as well. Here goes:

~~Sometimes~~

sometimes a lie is better
sometimes it's good to hide
so I don't think I'll let her
see what I feel inside

sometimes I feel all rotten
sometimes I feel sick
and how far I'd have gotten
if I knew what made you tick

sometimes I feel insane
sometimes I feel depressed
I've got this pain
Thats in the right of my chest

sometimes I feel locked up
sometimes I feel crazy
sometimes I wish I would speak up
even that would amaze me

sometimes I wish I could get away
sometimes I wish I could be free
the sight of you everyday
makes me wonder why you can't see me

sometimes you make me wonder
sometimes you make me sad
but when I see your splendor
the world doesn't look as bad

sometimes you make me wanna weep
sometimes you make me wanna cry
Sometimes I just cannot sleep
and you're the reason why

A Conceit

Give me your hand
Make room for me
to lead and follow
you
beyond this rage of poetry.

Let others have
the privacy of
touching words
and love of loss
of love.

For me
Give me your hand.

And what are you that, wanting you,
I should be kept awake
As many nights as there are days
With weeping for your sake?

And what are you that, missing you,
As many days as crawl
I should be listening to the wind
And looking at the wall?

I know a man that's a braver man
And twenty men as kind,
And what are you, that you should be
The one man in my mind?

Yet women's ways are witless ways,
As any sage will tell, --
And what am I, that I should love
So wisely and so well?

What I See.....

I look in in the mirror,
Can she see what I see?

I see a whole bunch of flaws.
I see so many flaws that I see no beauty.

I see insecurity.
I wonder if she sees it?

I see a scared little child
Hiding behind a paper-thin wall of courage.

A wall I feel, with the slightest gust of wind,
Will fall down and expose the timid child behind it.

If only she know how paranoid I become in her presence,
How inferior I feel.

But for some strange reason, at times,
I don't think she sees it.

She doesn't know how my heart races when she looks at me.
She doesn't see how I tremble.

Why is she looking at me?
Is there something wrong with me?

What is she saying in her mind?
These are the thoughts that I think.

I wish I had an invisible cloak
I would use it to hide myself from her.

She's so wonderful, but I don't think she would ever look at me in that way.

I talk and laugh with her
But my fear and insecurity are hidden behind a big smile.

However, she seems to accept me.
She seems to like me.

Could there ever be a chance of love?
But can't she see how scared I am?

What does she see?.....

If You Forget Me

I want you to know
one thing.

You know how this is:
if I look
at the crystal moon, at the red branch
of the slow autumn at my window,
if I touch
near the fire
the impalpable ash
or the wrinkled body of the log,
everything carries me to you,
as if everything that exists,
aromas, light, metals,
were little boats
that sail
toward those isles of yours that wait for me.

Well, now,
if little by little you stop loving me
I shall stop loving you little by little.

If suddenly
you forget me
do not look for me,
for I shall already have forgotten you.

If you think it long and mad,
the wind of banners
that passes through my life,
and you decide
to leave me at the shore
of the heart where I have roots,
remember
that on that day,
at that hour,
I shall lift my arms
and my roots will set off
to seek another land.

But
if each day,
each hour,
you feel that you are destined for me
with implacable sweetness,
if each day a flower
climbs up to your lips to seek me,
ah my love, ah my own,
in me all that fire is repeated,
in me nothing is extinguished or forgotten,
my love feeds on your love, beloved,
and as long as you live it will be in your arms
without leaving mine.

Title: I Do Not Love Thee..........
Post by kianna on Apr 23rd, 2005, 9:42am

I Do Not Love Thee

I DO not love thee!--no! I do not love thee!
And yet when thou art absent I am sad;
And envy even the bright blue sky above thee,
Whose quiet stars may see thee and be glad.

I do not love thee!--yet, I know not why,
Whate'er thou dost seems still well done, to me:
And often in my solitude I sigh
That those I do love are not more like thee!

I do not love thee!--yet, when thou art gone,
I hate the sound (though those who speak be dear)
Which breaks the lingering echo of the tone
Thy voice of music leaves upon my ear.

I do not love thee!--yet thy speaking eyes,
With their deep, bright, and most expressive blue,
Between me and the midnight heaven arise,
Oftener than any eyes I ever knew.

I know I do not love thee! yet, alas!
Others will scarcely trust my candid heart;
And oft I catch them smiling as they pass,
Because they see me gazing where thou art.

Sonnet XVII

I do not love you as if you were salt-rose, or topaz,
or the arrow of carnations the fire shoots off.
I love you as certain dark things are to be loved,
in secret, between the shadow and the soul.

I love you as the plant that never blooms
but carries in itself the light of hidden flowers;
thanks to your love a certain solid fragrance,
risen from the earth, lives darkly in my body.

I love you without knowing how, or when, or from where.
I love you straightforwardly, without complexities or pride;
so I love you because I know no other way

than this: where I does not exist, nor you,
so close that your hand on my chest is my hand,
so close that your eyes close as I fall asleep.

~~Pablo Neruda~~

Thank you.  This is my most  favorite  Pablo Neruda poem. Thank you for making me smile.  :)
On a sidenote, this was the poem recited by Patch Adams at the graveside of  his beloved. So beautiful.

The Sun Has Burst The Sky

The sun has burst the sky
Because I love you
And the river its banks.

The sea laps the great rocks
Because I love you
And takes no heed of the moon dragging it away
And saying coldly 'Constancy is not for you'.
The blackbird fills the air
Because I love you
With spring and lawns and shadows falling on lawns.

The people walk in the street and laugh
I love you
And far down the river ships sound their hooters
Crazy with joy because I love you.

"HI"

When I saw you
I felt something new
I don't know if it's true
There's something I feel for you.

Is this love or only crush
In here inside my heart?
'Cause when you look, my heart beats fast
I don't know what to do.

And if you smile
I can touch the sky
I forget all my sorrow
I just pray that one day
You'll come to me and say...

You're my wish in every day
In every special way
I dream of you every time
When will you ever say your "Hi!"

But I Can't

Time will say nothing but I told you so,
Time only knows the price we have to pay;
If I could tell you I would let you know.

If we should weep when clowns put on their show,
If we should stumble when musicians play,
Time will say nothing but I told you so.

There are no fortunes to be told, although,
Because I love you more than I can say,
If I could tell you I would let you know.

The winds must come from somewhere when they blow,
There must be reasons why the leaves decay;
Time will say nothing but I told you so.

Perhaps the roses really want to grow,
The vision seriously intends to stay;
If I could tell you I would let you know.

Suppose the lions all get up and go,
And the brooks and soldiers run away;
Will Time say nothing but I told you so?
If I could tell you I would let you know.

Love After Love...

The time will come
when, with elation
you will greet yourself arriving
at your own door, in your own mirror
and each will smile at the other's welcome,

and say, sit here. Eat.
You will love again the stranger who was your self.
Give wine. Give bread. Give back your heart
to itself, to the stranger who has loved you

all your life, whom you ignored
for another, who knows you by heart.
Take down the love letters from the bookshelf,

the photographs, the desperate notes,
peel your own image from the mirror.
Sit. Feast on your life.

Title: ...one from my soul
Post by teagirl on May 25th, 2005, 4:53am

somewhere i have never travelled, gladly beyond
any experience, your eyes have their silence:
in your most frail gesture are things which enclose me,
or which i cannot touch because they are too near

your slightest look will easily unclose me
though i have closed myself as fingers,
you open always petal by petal myself as Spring opens
(touching skilfully, mysteriously) her first rose

or if your wish be to close me, i and
my life will shut very beautifully, suddenly,
as when the heart of this flower imagines
the snow carefully everywhere descending;
nothing which we are to perceive in this world equals
the power of your intense fragility: whose texture
compels me with the color of its countries,
rendering death and forever with each breathing

(i do not know what it is about you that closes
and opens; only something in me understands
the voice of your eyes is deeper than all roses)
nobody, not even the rain, has such small hands.

Daisies

In the democracy of daisies
every blossom has one vote.
The question on the ballot is:
Does he love me?

If the answer's wrong I try another,
a little sorry about the petals
piling up around my shoes.

Bees are loose in the fields
where daisies wait and hope,
dreaming of the kiss of a proboscis.
We can't possibly understand

what makes us such fools.
I blame the June heat
and everything about him.

I Speak Not

I speak not, I trace not, I breathe not thy name;
There is grief in the sound, there is guilt in the fame;
But the tear that now burns on my cheek may impart
The deep thoughts that dwell in that silence of heart.
Too brief for our passion, too long for our peace,
Were those hours - can their joy or their bitterness cease?
We repent, we abjure, we will break from our chain, -
We will part, we will fly to - unite it again!
Oh! thine be the gladness, and mine be the guilt!
Forgive me, adored one! - forsake if thou wilt;
But the heart which is thine shall expire undebased,
And man shall not break it - whatever thou may'st.
And stern to the haughty, but humble to thee,
This soul in its bitterest blackness shall be;
And our days seem as swift, and our moments more sweet,
With thee at my side, than with worlds at our feet.
One sigh of thy sorrow, one look of thy love,
Shall turn me or fix, shall reward or reprove.
And the heartless may wonder at all I resign -
Thy lips shall reply, not to them, but to mine.

Discovery

Ah.
Here I am again.
Giggling,
Effervescent,
It begins in the lowest levels of my belly,
Creeps up to engulf my heart,
Lightens my head.
It makes me dizzy.

Laughter bubbles about inside my mouth
Tickling my teeth
Dancing on my tongue
Bursting out!
See how it brightens the sun,
Clears the skies, Softens the rain.
Everyone smiles.
"She's in love", they whisper,
And I hear.
Am I?
I am......oh, yes,
I
am!
I love the person,
Who is
ME!

My Blind Heart

My heart is like a moth....
It flies blindly about
And then it lands
In a perfect spot,
Only to be whisked away
By the emotionless wind,
To search for something new
That can be loved as much.

What Is Love?

To renounce your individuality
To see with another's eyes
To hear with another's ears,
To be two and yet one,
To so melt and mingle that you no longer know
You are you or another,
To constantly absorb and
Constantly radiate,
To reduce earth, sea and sky
And all that in them is
To a single being so wholly
That nothing whatever is withheld,
To be prepared at any moment
For sacrifice,
To double your personality
In bestowing it---
That is love.

"Why do I love" You, Sir?

"Why do I love" You, Sir?
Because—
The Wind does not require the Grass
To answer—Wherefore when He pass
She cannot keep Her place.

Because He knows—and
Do not You—
And We know not—
Enough for Us
The Wisdom it be so—

The Lightning—never asked an Eye
Wherefore it shut—when He was by—
Because He knows it cannot speak—
And reasons not contained—
—Of Talk—
There be—preferred by Daintier Folk—

The Sunrise—Sire—compelleth Me—
Because He's Sunrise—and I see—
Therefore—Then—
I love Thee—

To Be In Love

To be in love
Is to touch with a lighter hand.
In yourself you stretch, you are well.
You look at things
Through his eyes.
A cardinal is red.
A sky is blue.
Suddenly you know he knows too.
He is not there but
You know you are tasting together
The winter, or a light spring weather.
His hand to take your hand is overmuch.
Too much to bear.
You cannot look in his eyes
Because your pulse must not say
What must not be said.
When he
Shuts a door-
Is not there_
Your arms are water.
And you are free
With a ghastly freedom.
You are the beautiful half
Of a golden hurt.
You remember and covet his mouth
To touch, to whisper on.
Oh when to declare
Is certain Death!
Oh when to apprize
Is to mesmerize,
To see fall down, the Column of Gold,
Into the commonest ash.

This rose of red,

Somewhere On The Way...

I wanted to say a lot of things:
I wanted to say how often lately
Your bright image has wandered through
The dark rooms of my mind;
I wanted to say how good it is
To wake up every morning
Knowing that the day contains
Something that is you.

I wanted to say a lot of things;
I wanted to talk about`
The changing color of moments,
The silent secret language
Of bodies making love.
I wanted to say that you
Are always only as far from me
As thoughts are from thinking.

I wanted to say I love you
In fourteen foreign languages
But most of all (most
Difficult of all) in English.

I wanted to say a lot of things.
But they all seem to have lost themselves
Somewhere on the way. And now I'm here
There's nothing I can say except
Hello, and Yes, I'd like some coffee, and
What shall we find to talk about
Before the night burns out?

The Sun That Is You

I awake again, but I don't yet open my eyes.  Instead I listen, feel.  It's quiet on this strange, dark sea I drift across.  I feel no wind, but I am chilled.  The air here is cold.  I don't want to look because I've already heard and felt enough to know the skies are still oppressively gray.  But I must.

So I open my eyes
and scan those skies,
looking for the sun that is you.

I'm right.  It's gray everywhere, far as I can see.  I hunch down a bit, trying to suppress a shiver.  I know only one thing can banish the chill, though, so I settle into my wait.  Who knows?  Maybe it will come today.

So I watch those skies,
the perfect disguise,
covering the sun that is you.

But not today.  I waited patiently but the gray didn't break.  Smooth and featureless, it mocked my patience, stretched it to it's limits, and made me wonder if the sun is just a dream.  Two tears fall, one of fear, the other, fury.  Tomorrow, my patence whispers, tomorrow.

So I close my eyes
and curse those skies,
hiding the sun that is you.

My skin tingles with warmth.  I'm jolted awake and I look, and there, the gray is thinning, breaking.  Shafts of light burst through, bathing me in their radiance.  I bask in the heat, and two more tears fall, one of hope, the other, happiness.  You see? my patience rejoices, today.

So I wipe my eyes
and praise those skies
for releasing the sun that is you.

Like the Touch of Rain

Like the touch of rain she was
On a man's flesh and hair and eyes
When the joy of walking thus
Has taken him by surprise:

With the love of the storm he burns,
He sings, he laughs, well I know how,
But forgets when he returns
As I shall not forget her 'Go now'.

Those two words shut a door
Between me and the blessed rain
That was never shut before
And will not open again.

In the howling storm:

Has found out thy bed
Of crimson joy:
And his dark secret love
Does thy life destroy.

I Love You Baby

The words are hard to find, though I know they're here
Thinking about saying them merely makes me scared
How do I tell you how much I really do care,
How do I tell you I'll always be there.
I don't understand why I can't tell you the facts,
Or when I feel your touch I can hardly get enough.
How do I tell you when I'm not with you I go completely crazy,
the truth is I love you, baby.
I love you completely everything about you,the little things you do
I love your smile and the look in your eyes.
I know this love is never gonna die.
My world is nothing without you,and I've noticed that more lately.
So,I though I'd tell you ,I love you ,baby.

You Would Be The One

I was lying awake last night,
going through snapshots of my memories;
searching for something I want to remember
with my words...
Suddenly, I remembered you-
You once told me I could surely do anything I ever dreamed
if I could speak as well as I could write-
Those words have never left me,
and with them, you still remain
in the deepest, saddest, and happiest memories
of my heart...
You were an entire lifetime ago-
at least it seems...
You were the first to ever show me
what love could be...what love should be.
Looking back, there are no bitter pieces of you. You faded from my life
as soft and sweet as you were delivered...
For so long after, every lover's touch was measured against yours;
in every word from another's heart,
I only listened for you. For years, you haunted
every waking thought, and gave me
the most beautiful, heartbreaking dreams.
Still, you are the only lover
I have never once regretted...
I guess I found the memory
I was looking for-
You would be the one to encourage my words.

sonnets From The Portuguese 43:
How Do I Love Thee?
~ Elizabeth Barrett Browning

   How do I love thee?
   Let me count the ways.

I love thee to the depth
   and breadth
   and height
   My soul can reach,
   when feeling out of sight.
For the ends of Being and ideal Grace.
I love thee to the level of everyday's
   Most quiet need,
   by sun and candlelight.
   I love thee freely,
   as men strive for Right;
   I love thee purely,
   as they turn from Praise.
I love thee with the passion
put to use In my old griefs,
   and with my childhood's faith.
I love thee with a love I seemed to lose
   With my lost saints,
--I love thee with the breath, Smiles, tears,
   of all my life!
   --and, if God choose,
I shall but love thee better after death.

When Do I Think Of You?

I think of you in the peace
solitude and stillness of the early a.m., for
you are tranquillity.

I think of you on an ocean's front,
for you are the roar of the waves,
the power of the sea, and the salt in the air.

I think of you amidst a crowd
and the chorus of city sounds
...for that is my song, and you are the music.

You are my first thought of each new day,
and the last image I glimpse, as my eyes are
closed upon a feathered pillow.

In that secret place called sleep, it is you that
I search for, through shades of darkness and
clouds of cotton.

When do I think of you? Every moment
of my life. And, when the final sleep does come
and if there is thought...
it will be of you.

A Special World

A special world for you and me
A special bond one cannot see
It wraps us up in its cocoon
And holds us fiercely in its womb.

Its fingers spread like fine spun gold
Gently nestling us to the fold
Like silken thread it holds us fast
Bonds like this are meant to last.

And though at times a thread may break
A new one forms in its wake
To bind us closer and keep us strong
In a special world, where we belong.

I have entered about this in my blog and I thought I would share about it here too in the form of a poem. I was reading a book, then I was reminded about [my] FIRST KISS. ;D

FIRST KISS !

The movie theater
Tremors on the big screen
I was 13
He leaned in,
went for the kiss--
I laughed in his face.

He broke up with me shortly thereafter,
only to go out with a girl who gave more than kisses.
I wasn't ready what could I possibly say....
except his large turtle head made me giggle.

Love
~Emmet Fox~

There is no difficulty that enough love will not conquer;

no disease that enough love will not heal;

no door that enough love will not open;

no gulf that enough love will not bridge;

no wall that enough love will not throw down;

no sin that enough love will not redeem.

It makes no difference how deeply seated may be the trouble;

how hopeless the outlook;

how muddled the tangle;

how great the mistake.

A sufficient realization of love will dissolve it all.

If only you could love enough you would be the happiest and most powerful being in the world.
