We all feel a 'lil down sometimes... there are times when the days just seem so long,... there are times when we feel like we barely exist ... not really knowing where to go, what to do, what to hope for. Louisa May Alcott once said: "Into each life some rain must fall,... Some days must be dark and sad and dreary." How true that is...  :-[ But don't let these moments get you down... sometimes all we need is something that can make us realize that things aren't so bad after all......... inspirational stories, poems, thoughts and reflections are just one of them..... please read....... and share some of yours too....  ;)

Be Thankful

Should you find something on your dinner plate that doesn't appeal to you, don't complain. There are people who don't have anything on their plate.

Should you find yourself stuck in traffic, don't despair. There are people in this world for whom driving is an unheard of privilege.

Should you despair over a relationship gone bad, think of the person who has never known what it's like to love and be loved in return.

Should you grieve the passing of another weekend, think of the woman in dire straits, working twelve hours a day, seven days a week to feed her children.

Should your car break down, leaving you miles away from assistance, think of the paraplegic who would love the opportunity to take that walk.  :)

Recently, I overheard a father & daughter
in their last moments together. They had

announced her plane's departure and standing near
the security gate, they hugged and he said, "I

love you. I wish you enough."

She said, "Daddy, our life together has been more

than enough. Your love is all I ever needed. I

wish you enough, too, Daddy." They kissed and she

left...

He walked over toward the window where I was
seated. Standing there, I could see he wanted and

needed to cry. I tried not to intrude on his

privacy but he welcomed me in by asking, "Did you

ever say goodbye to someone knowing it would be

forever???"

"Yes, I have," I replied."Forgive me for

intruding, but why is this a forever goodbye?" I

asked him.

"I am old, and she lives much too far away. I

have challenges ahead, and the reality is, her

next trip back would be for my funeral," he said.

I asked him. "When u were saying goodbye, I heard

u say, "I wish u enough." "May I ask what that

means??"

He began to smile."That's a wish that has been

handed down from generations. My parents used to

say it to everyone." He paused for a moment, and

looking up as if trying to remember it in detail,

he smiled even more. "When we said, "I wish u

enough," we were wanting the other person to have

a life filled with enough good things to sustain

them." Turning toward me, he then shared the

following as if he were reciting it from memory:

I wish you enough sun to keep ur attitude bright.
I wish you enouhg rain to appreciate the sun more.
I wish you enough happiness to keep ur spirit
alive.
I wish you enough pain so that the smallest joys in
life appear much bigger.
I wish you enough gain to satisfy ur wanting.
I wish you enough loss to appreciate all u possess.
I wish you enough "Hello's" to get u through
the final "Goodbye."

He then began to sob and walked away.

I WISH YOU ENOUGH.... :)

This is not a story but quite inspirational

After awhile you learn
the subtle difference between
holding a hand and chaining a soul
and you learn that love doesn't mean possession
and company doesn't mean security.
And you begin to learn that kisses aren't contracts
and presents aren't promises and you begin to accept
your defeats with your head up and your eyes ahead
with the grace of an adult not the grief of a child.
And you learn to build your roads today
because tomorrow's ground is too uncertain for plans
and futures have ways of falling down in mid-flight.
After awhile you learn that even sunshine
burns if you get too much so you plant your
own garden and decorate your own soul
instead of waiting for someone to bring you flowers.
And you learn that you really can endure
that you really are strong
and you really do have worth
and you learn
and you learn...

Today I Will...

TODAY I WILL NOT STRIKE BACK:
If someone is rude, if someone is impatient, if someone is unkind... I will not respond in a like manner.

TODAY I WILL ASK GOD TO BLESS MY "ENEMY":
If I come across someone who treats me harshly or unfairly, I will quietly ask GOD to bless that individual. I understand the "enemy" could be a family member, neighbor, co-worker or stranger.

TODAY I WILL BE CAREFUL ABOUT WHAT I SAY:
I will carefully choose and guard my words being certain that I do not spread gossip.

TODAY I WILL GO THE EXTRA MILE:
I will find ways to help share the burden of another person.

TODAY I WILL FORGIVE:
I will forgive any hurts or injuries that come my way.

TODAY I WILL DO SOMETHING NICE FOR SOMEONE, BUT I WILL DO IT SECRETLY:
I will reach out anonymously and bless the life of another.

TODAY I WILL TREAT OTHERS THE WAY I WISH TO BE TREATED:
I will practice the golden rule -- do unto others as you would have them do unto you -- with everyone I encounter.

TODAY I WILL RAISE THE SPIRITS OF SOMEONE WHO IS DISCOURAGED:
My smile, my words, my expression of support, can make the difference to someone who is wrestling with life.

TODAY I WILL NURTURE MY BODY:
I will eat less; I will eat only healthy foods. I will thank GOD for my body.

TODAY I WILL GROW SPIRITUALLY:
I will spend a little more time in prayer today: I will begin reading something spiritual or inspirational today; I will find a quiet place at some point during this day and listen to GOD's voice

Everything Happens For a Reason

Sometimes people come into your life and you know right away that they were meant to be there, they serve some sort of purpose, teach you a lesson or help figure out who you are or who you want to become.

You never know who these people may be; your roommate, your neighbor, professor, long lost friend, lover or even a complete stranger who, when you lock eyes with them, you know that very moment that they will affect your life in some profound way.

And sometimes things happen to you and at the time they seem horrible, painful and unfair, but in reflection you realize that without overcoming those obstacles you would never have realized your potential, strength, will power of heart.

Everything happens for a reason. Nothing happens by chance or by means of good or bad luck. Illness, injury, love, lost moments or true greatness and sheer stupidity all occur to test the limits of the soul.

Without these small tests, if they be events, illnesses or relationships, life would be like a smooth paved, straight, flat road to nowhere. Safe and comfortable but dull and utterly pointless.

The people you meet who affect your life and successes and downfalls you experience, they are the ones who create who you are. Even the bad experience can be learned from... Those lessons are the hardest and probably the most important ones.

If someone hurts you, betrays you, or breaks your heart... forgive them, for they have helped you learn about trust and the importance of being cautious to whom you open your heart.

If someone loves you, love them back unconditionally, not only because they love you, but because they are teaching you to love and opening your heart and eyes to things you would have never seen or felt without them.

Make every day count. Appreciate every moment and take from it everything that you possibly can, for you may never be able to experience it again. Talk to people you have never talked to before, and actually listen, let yourself fall in love, break free and set your sights high. You can make of your life anything you wish. Create your own life and then go out and live it.

Perhaps

Perhaps……
You have forgotten how it feels to laugh simply to laugh. How it feels to know for certain the depths and source of your feelings.

Perhaps…..
You've forgotten how it feels to reach out, knowing with certainty that you will touch what you reach for.

Perhaps…..
You've forgotten the tingle of your body when what you reach for, reaches back to you……and touches you.

Perhaps…..
You've forgotten what it's like to live in the innocence and purity of love. And since perhaps you've forgotten, I have to once again remind you. For I have not forgotten…….and I still believe.

You ask me what it is that I believe in, and my answer to you is simple. I believe in…….. the possibilities.

Breakfast at McDonalds

I am a mother of three (ages 14, 12, 3) and have recently completed my college degree.

The last class I had to take was Sociology. The teacher was absolutely inspiring with the qualities that I wish every human being had been graced with. Her last project of the term was called "Smile." The class was asked to go out and smile at three people and document their reactions. I am a very friendly person and always smile at everyone and say hello anyway, so, I thought this would be a piece of cake, literally.

Soon after we were assigned the project, my husband, youngest son, and I went out to McDonald's one crisp March morning. It was just our way of sharing special play time with our son. We were standing in line, waiting to be served, when all of a sudden everyone around us began to back away, and then even my husband did. I did not move an inch ... an overwhelming feeling of panic welled up inside of me as I turned to see why they had moved.

As I turned around I smelled a horrible "dirty body" smell, and there standing behind me were two poor homeless men. As I looked down at the short gentleman, close to me, he was "smiling". His beautiful sky blue eyes were full of God's Light as he searched for acceptance. He said, "Good day" as he counted the few coins he had been clutching.

The second man fumbled with his hands as he stood behind his friend. I realized the second man was mentally challenged and the blue eyed gentleman was his salvation.

I held my tears as I stood there with them. The young lady at the counter asked him what they wanted. He said, "Coffee is all, Miss" because that was all they could afford. (If they wanted to sit in the restaurant and warm up, they had to buy something. He just wanted to be warm).

Then I really felt it - the compulsion was so great I almost reached out and embraced the little man with the blue eyes. That is when I noticed all eyes in the restaurant were set on me, judging my every action. I smiled and asked the young lady behind the counter to give me two more breakfast meals on a separate tray. I then walked around the corner to the table that the men had chosen as a resting spot. I put the tray on the table and laid my hand on the blue eyed gentleman's cold hand. He looked up at me, with tears in his eyes, and said, "Thank you."

I leaned over, began to pat his hand and said, "I did not do this for you. God is here working through me to give you hope."

I started to cry as I walked away to join my husband and son. When I sat down my husband smiled at me and said, "That is why God gave you to me, Honey. To give me hope." We held hands for a moment and at that time we knew that only because of the Grace that we had been given were we able to give. We are not church goers, but we are believers.

That day showed me the pure Light of God's sweet love. I returned to college, on the last evening of class, with this story in hand. I turned in "my project" and the instructor read it. Then she looked up at me and said, "Can I share this?" I slowly nodded as she got the attention of the class. She began to read and that is when I knew that we as human beings and being part of God, share this need to heal people and to be healed.

In my own way I had touched the people at McDonald's, my husband, son, instructor, and every soul that shared the classroom on the last night I spent as a college student. I graduated with one of the biggest lessons I would ever learn:

UNCONDITIONAL ACCEPTANCE.

Much love and compassion is sent to each and every person who may read this and learn how to LOVE PEOPLE AND USE THINGS - NOT LOVE THINGS AND USE PEOPLE.

If you think this story has touched you in any way, there is an Angel sent to watch over you.

To handle yourself, use your head. To handle others, use your heart. God Gives every bird its food, but He does not throw it into its nest.

I read somewhere that this piece of article supposedly written by Gabriel Garcia Marquez on his deathbed is a fake. Nonetheless, I kept this article because, well, its inspiring.

A GENIUS BIDS FAREWELL
(English version)

Gabriel Garcia Marquez has retired from public life due to health reasons: cancer of the lymph nodes. It seems that it is getting worse.

He has sent a farewell letter to his friends, and thanks to the Internet it is spreading. I recommend that you read it. This short text, written by one of the most brilliant Latin Americans in recent times, is truly moving.

“If for an instant God were to forget that I am rag doll and gifted me with a piece of life, possibly I wouldn’t say all that I think, but rather I would think of all that I say. I would value things, not for their worth but for what they mean. I would sleep little, dream more, understanding that for each minute we lose our eyes we lose sixty seconds of light.

I would walk when others hold back, I would wake when others sleep.

I would listen when others talk, and how I would enjoy a good chocolate ice cream! If God were to give me a piece of life, I would dress simply, throw myself face first into the sun, baring not only my body but also my soul. My God, if I had a heart, I would write my hate on ice, and wait for the sun to show. Over the stars I would paint with a Van Gogh dream, a Benedetti poem, and a Serrat song would be the serenade I’d offer to the moon. With my tears I would water roses, to feel the pain of their thorns, and the red kiss of their petals…

My God, if I had a piece of life…I wouldn’t let a single day pass without telling the people I love that I love them. I would convince each woman and each man that they are my favorites, and I would live in love with love. I would show men how very wrong they are to think that they cease to be in love when they grow old, not knowing that they grow old when they cease to be in love! To a child I shall give wings, but I shall let him learn to fly on his own. I would teach the old that death does not come with old age, but with forgetting. So much have I learned from you, oh men…

I have learned that everyone wants to live on the peak of the mountain, without knowing that real happiness is in how it is scaled. I have learned that when a newborn child squeezes for the first time with his tiny fist his father’s finger, he has him trapped forever. I have learned that a man has the right to look down on another only when he has to help the other get to his feet. From you I have learned so many things, but in truth they won’t be of much use, for when I keep them within this suitcase, unhappily shall I be dying."

Am I in love?

What is being in love? What makes it different
from other kinds of loving? Some say it only
lasts a short while, but perhaps that is because
it was the wrong kind of love in the first place.
I'm not sure wheter I'm in love or not.
But I can try to size up some of the things
about what I feel. I want to love him as he
really is, not as I might like him to be. I know
I feel like a pricked ballon when he's gone, but
when I'm with him, life comes back into focus
again. He gives me confidence to do things I
could never do by myself. Just having him around
means such a lot. He helps me to enjoy life more,
as well as supporting and comforting me when
times are difficult. I have sat with him when
he's depressed and felt wretched because there
was nothing I could do to help. I've glowed
inside when people speak well of him. I hate
being apart from him -------- I'd rather be near
him, even if he makes me angry,.... than be happy
away from him. He's in my thoughts continually
and I know I feel incomplete without him.

Does this amount to being in love?

This is for a Very Dear Friend of mine...hope he can read this...a simple poem for him to realize what hates and anger does to us. :-[
[/center]Hate Holds Anger
Written by Amy Besner

my hate hold me down,
in anger i try to regain faith.
in anger i drive myself into madness,
madness leads to truths.
madness makes me live outside.
normal thinking and though.
but normal thinking and though,
were what brought me to madness in the first place.
what brought me to madness were people,
these people masked caring over hate,
and my hate holds me down.[center]

Don't We All?

One evening I was parked in front of the mall wiping off my car. I had just come from the car wash and was waiting for my wife to get out of work. Coming my way from across the parking lot was what society would consider a bum. From the looks of him, he had no car, no home, no clean clothes, and no money. There are times when you feel generous but there are other times that you just don't want to be bothered. This was one of the "Don't want to be bothered" times.

"I hope he doesn't ask me for money," I thought. He didn't. He came and sat on the curb in front of the bus stop and he didn't look like he could have enough money to even ride the bus. After a few minutes he spoke. "That's a very nice car," he said. He was ragged but had an air of dignity around him. I said, "Thanks," and continued wiping off my car.

He sat there quietly as I worked. The expected plea for money never came. As the silence between us widened something inside said, 'ask him if he needs any help.' I was sure that he would say yes, but I held true to the inner voice.

"Do you need any help?" I asked. He answered in three simple but profound words that I shall never forget. We often look for wisdom in great men and women. We expect it from those of higher learning and accomplishments. I expected nothing but an outstretched grimy hand. He spoke three words that shook me.

"Don't we all?" he said.

I needed help. Maybe not for bus fare or a place to sleep, but I needed help. I reached in my wallet and gave him not only enough for bus fare but enough to get a warm meal and shelter for the day. Those three little words still ring true. No matter how much you have, no matter how much you have accomplished, you need help too. No matter how little you have, no matter how loaded you are with problems, even without money or a place to sleep, you can give help. Even if it's just a compliment, you can give that.

You never know when you may see someone that appears to have it all. They are waiting on you to give them what they don't have. A different perspective on life, a glimpse at something beautiful, a respite from daily chaos, that only you through a torn world can see.

Maybe the man was just a homeless stranger wandering the streets. Maybe he was more than that. Maybe he was sent by a power that is great and wise to minister to a soul too comfortable in themselves.

Maybe God looked down, called an Angel, dressed him like a bum, then said, "Go minister to that man cleaning the car, that man needs help."

"Don't We All?"

Letting Go

To let go doesn't mean to stop caring;
It means I can't do it for someone else.

To let go is not to cut myself off....
It's the realization that I can't control another.....

To let go is not to enable,
but to allow learning from natural consequences.

To let go is to admit powerlessness,
which means the outcome is not in my hands.

To let go is not to try and change or blame another,
I can only change myself.

To let go is not to care for, but to care about.
To let go is not to fix, but to be supportive.

To let go is not to judge,
but to allow another to be a human being.

To let go is not to be in the middle arranging all the outcomes,
but to allow others to affect their own outcomes.

To let go is not to be protective,
It is to permit another to face reality.

To let go is not to deny, but to accept.
To let go is not to nag, scold, or argue,
but to search out my own shortcomings and correct them.

To let go is not to adjust everything to my desires,
but to take each day as it comes and cherish the moment.

To let go is not to criticize and regulate anyone,
but to try to become what I dream I can be.

To let go is not to regret the past,
but to grow and live for the future.
To let go is to fear less and love more.

Things I Wish I'd Known Before Going Out Into The Real World

:)The five most essential words for a healthy, vital relationship:
"I apologize" and "You are right".

:)Never continue dating anyone who is rude to the waiter.

:)Any and all compliments can be handled by simply saying
"Thank you"...
(though it helps if you say it with a Southern accent.)

:)Never give yourself a haircut after three margaritas.  :D lol

:)Everyone seems normal until you get to know them.

:)When you make a mistake, make amends immediately.
It's easier to eat crow while it's still warm.

:)I've learned to pick my battles; I ask myself,
Will this matter one year from now?
How about one month? One week? One day?

:)If you woke up breathing, congratulations!
You have another chance!

:)Being miserable because of a bad or former relationship
just proves that the other person was right about you.

:)Be really nice to your friends because you never know
when you are going to need them to empty your bed pan
and hold your hand.

:)Never underestimate the kindness of your fellow man.

:)You are the only person who can truly make you happy.

:)And finally...Being happy doesn't mean everything's perfect,
it just means you've decided to see beyond the imperfections.

Great Thoughts

Living on Earth is expensive, but it does include a free trip around the sun.

Birthdays are good for you: the more you have the longer you live.

How long a minute is depends on what side of the bathroom door you're on.

I have noticed that the people who are late are often so much jollier than the people who have to wait for them.

If ignorance is bliss, why aren't more people happy?

Most of us go to our grave with our music still inside of us.
If Wal-Mart is lowering prices every day, how come nothing in the store is free yet?

You may be only one person in the world, but you may also be the world to one person.

Some mistakes are too much fun to only make once.

Don't cry because it's over; smile because it happened.

We could learn a lot from crayons: some are sharp, some are pretty, some are dull, some have weird names, and all are different colors ...but they all have to learn to live in the same box.

Everything should be made as simple as possible, but no simpler.

A truly happy person is one who can enjoy the scenery on a detour.

Happiness comes through doors you didn't even know you left open.

[smiley=heartbeat.gif]  2. At least 15 people in this world love you in some way.

[smiley=heartbeat.gif]  3. The only reason anyone would ever hate you is because they want to be just like you.

[smiley=heartbeat.gif]  4. A smile from you can bring happiness to anyone, even if they don't like you.

[smiley=heartbeat.gif]  5. Every night, SOMEONE thinks about you before they go to sleep.

[smiley=heartbeat.gif]  6. You mean the world to someone.

[smiley=heartbeat.gif]  7. If not for you, someone may not be living.

[smiley=heartbeat.gif]  8. You are special and unique.

[smiley=heartbeat.gif]  9. Someone that you don't even know exists, loves you.

[smiley=heartbeat.gif]  10. When you make the biggest mistake ever, something good comes from it.

[smiley=heartbeat.gif]  11. When you think the world has turned its back on you, take a look: you most likely turned your back on the world.

[smiley=heartbeat.gif]  12. When you think you have no chance of getting what you want, you probably won't get it, but if you believe in yourself, probably, sooner or later, you will get it.

[smiley=heartbeat.gif]  13. Always remember the compliments you received. Forget about the rude remarks.

[smiley=heartbeat.gif]  14. Always tell someone how you feel about them; you will feel much better when they know.

[smiley=heartbeat.gif]  15. If you have a great friend, take the time to let them know that they are great.

Things might look a little cloudy now,
but they'll get better soon.
Just remember that it's true:

it takes rain to make rainbows,
  lemons to make lemonade,
  and sometimes it takes difficulties
to make us stronger and better people...

The sun will shine again soon....

Attitude Is Everything

Jerry was the kind of guy you love to hate. He was always in a good mood and always had something positive to say. When someone would ask him how he was doing, he would reply, "If I were any better, I would be twins!"

He was a unique manager because he had several waiters who had followed him around from restaurant to restaurant. The reason the waiters followed Jerry was because of his attitude. He was a natural motivator. If an employee was having a bad day, Jerry was there telling the employee how to look on the positive side of the situation.

Seeing this style really made me curious, so one day I went up to Jerry and asked him, "I don't get it! You can't be a positive person all of the time. How do you do it?"

Jerry replied, "Each morning I wake up and say to myself, 'Jerry, you have two choices today. You can choose to be in a good mood or you can choose to be in a bad mood.' I choose to be in a good mood. Each time something bad happens, I can choose to be a victim or I can choose to learn from it. I choose to learn from it. Every time someone comes to me complaining, I can choose to accept their complaining or I can point out the positive side of life. I choose the positive side of life."

"Yeah, right, it's not that easy," I protested.

"Yes, it is," Jerry said. "Life is all about choices. When you cut away all the junk, every situation is a choice. You choose how you react to situations. You choose how people will affect your mood. You choose to be in a good mood or bad mood. The bottom line: It's your choice how you live life."

I reflected on what Jerry said. Soon thereafter, I left the restaurant industry to start my own business. We lost touch, but I often thought about him when I made a choice about life instead of reacting to it.

Several years later, I heard that Jerry did something you are never supposed to do in a restaurant business: he left the back door open one morning and was held up at gunpoint by three armed robbers. While trying to open the safe, his hand, shaking from nervousness, slipped off the combination. The robbers panicked and shot him.

Luckily, Jerry was found relatively quickly and rushed to the local trauma center. After 18 hours of surgery and weeks of intensive care, Jerry was released from the hospital with fragments of the bullets still in his body.

I saw Jerry about six months after the accident. When I asked him how he was, he replied, "If I were any better, I'd be twins. Wanna see my scars?" I declined to see his wounds, but did ask him what had gone through his mind as the robbery took place.

"The first thing that went through my mind was that I should have locked the back door," Jerry replied. "Then, as I lay on the floor, I remembered that I had two choices: I could choose to live, or I could choose to die. I chose to live."

"Weren't you scared? Did you lose consciousness?" I asked.

Jerry continued, "The paramedics were great. They kept telling me I was going to be fine. But when they wheeled me into the emergency room and I saw the expressions on the faces of the doctors and nurses, I got really scared. In their eyes, I read, 'He's a dead man.' "I knew I needed to take action."

"What did you do?" I asked.

"Well, there was a big, burly nurse shouting questions at me," said Jerry.

"She asked if I was allergic to anything. 'Yes,' I replied. The doctors and nurses stopped working as they waited for my reply. I took a deep breath and yelled, 'Bullets!'

Over their laughter, I told them. 'I am choosing to live. Operate on me as if I am alive, not dead."

Jerry lived thanks to the skill of his doctors, but also because of his amazing attitude. I learned from him that every day we have the choice to live fully.

Attitude, after all, is everything.

   Attitude

The longer I live, the more I realize the impact of attitude on life.

Attitude, to me, is more important than facts. It is more important than the past, than education, than money, than circumstances, than failures, than successes, than what other people think, say, or do.

It is more important than appearance, giftedness, or skill. It will make or break a company, a church, a home.

The remarkable thing is we have a choice every day regarding the attitude we will embrace for that day.

We cannot change our past. We cannot change the fact that people will act in a certain way. We cannot change the inevitable. The only thing we can do is play on the one string we have, and that is our attitude.

I am convinced that life is 10% what happens to me and 90% how I react to it. And so it is with you. We are in charge of our attitudes.

If I had Wings

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v211/kianna_andrea/3.jpg

If I had wings I would teach you to fly,

I'd teach you to love, I'd teach you to cry.

If I had wings I'd give you the moon,

I'd watch you grow as a person.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v211/kianna_andrea/5.jpg

If I had wings I'd teach you try,

to reach for the stars and strive for the sky.

If I had wings we'd never be apart,

I'd keep you with me, always in my heart.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v211/kianna_andrea/2.jpg

If I had wings you'd never know pain,

I'd shelter you from the earth, the fire, and the rain.

But I'm not an Angel as you can see

and although I want to I may never be.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v211/kianna_andrea/1.jpg

So all I can do is pray for these things,

these things that I would give you if only I had wings.

                     What Matters?

What exactly in life matters? We all change and develop through the various experiences we have in life, that shape us into what we are today. I have lived, loved, lost, and lusted. Still I have dreams to fulfill, fears to conquer, and ambitions to realize. I think I understand the beast in me very well. There comes  a point in a man's life when he stops caring about what other people think and becomes more concerned with living authentically. The pursuit of money and other material objects is tempered by the quest for wisdom. The battle for the corner office and the company BMW gives way to the most significant status symbol of all--free time. Free time to pursue what really gives all men pleasure.  Satisfaction in relationships becomes the yardstick for success. To find a healthy balance among my faith, work, family, friends and the one who shares my bed is not an easy task, but its one task I will refuse to give up on.  This is what matters to me.

This message is for those people who mean something to me, to those who have touched my life in one way or another, to those who makes me smile when I really need it, to those that make me see the brighter side of things when I am are really down, to those I want to  know that I appreciate their friendship.

Maybe God wants us to meet a few wrong people before meeting the right one so that when we finally meet the right person, we will know how to be grateful for that gift.

When the door of happiness closes, another opens, but often times we look so long at the closed door that we don't see the one which has been opened for us.

The best kind of friend is the kind you can sit on a porch and swing with, never say a word, and then walk away feeling like it was the best conversation you've ever had.

It's true that we don't know what we've got until we lose it, but it's also true that we don't know what we've been missing until it arrives.

Giving someone all your love is never an assurance that they'll love you back! Don't expect love in return; just wait for it to grow in their heart but if it doesn't, be content it grew in yours. It takes only a minute to get a crush on someone, an hour to like someone, and a day to love someone, but it takes a lifetime to forget someone.

Don't go for looks; they can deceive. Don't go for wealth; even that fades away. Go for someone who makes you smile because it takes only a smile to make a dark day seem bright. Find the one that makes your heart smile.

There are moments in life when you miss someone so much that you just want to pick them from your dreams and hug them for real!

Dream what you want to dream; go where you want to go; be what you want to be, because you have only one life and one chance to do all the things you want to do.

May you have enough happiness to make you sweet, enough trials to make you strong, enough sorrow to keep you human, enough hope to make you happy.

Always put yourself in others' shoes. If you feel that it hurts you, it probably hurts the other person, too.

The happiest of people don't necessarily have the best of everything; they just make the most of everything that comes along their way.

Happiness lies for those who cry, those who hurt, those who have searched, and those who have tried, for only they can appreciate the importance of people who have touched their lives. Love begins with a smile, grows with a kiss and ends with a tear. The brightest future will always be based on a forgotten past, you can't go on well in life until you let go of your past failures and heartaches.

When you were born, you were crying and everyone around you was smiling. Live your life so that when you die, you're the one who is smiling and everyone around you is crying.

Title: Reason, Season and Lifetime
Post by kianna_andrea on Sep 27th, 2004, 1:49am

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v211/kianna_andrea/29955_wallpaper280.jpg

People always come into your life
for a reason, a season, and a lifetime.
When you figure out which it is,
you know exactly what to do.

When someone is in your life for a REASON,
it is usually to meet a need
you have expressed outwardly or inwardly.
They have come to assist you through a difficulty,
or to provide you with guidance and support,
to aid you physically, emotionally, or even spiritually.
They may seem like a godsend to you, and they are.
They are there for the reason you need them to be.

Then, without any wrong doing on your part
or at an inconvenient time,
this person will say or do something
to bring the relationship to an end.

Sometimes they die.
Sometimes they just walk away.
Sometimes they act up or out
and force you to take a stand.

What we must realize is
that our need has been met,
our desire fulfilled; their work is done.
The prayer you sent up has been answered
and it is now time to move on.

When people come into your
life for a SEASON,
it is because your turn has come
to share, grow, or learn.
They may bring you an experience
of peace or make you laugh.
They may teach you something
you have never done.
They usually give you
an unbelievable amount of joy.

Believe it! It is real!
But, only for a season.
And like Spring turns to Summer
and Summer to Fall,
the season eventually ends.

LIFETIME relationships teach you
a lifetime of lessons;
those things you must build upon
in order to have a solid emotional foundation.
Your job is to accept the lesson,
love the person/people (anyway);
and put what you have learned to use in all
other relationships and areas of your life.

It is said that love is blind
but friendship is clairvoyant.
Thank you for being part of my life.....

Too Many Times

Too often we don't realize
what we have until it is gone
Too often we wait too late to say
"I'm sorry - I was wrong."

Sometimes it seems we hurt the ones
we hold dearest to our hearts
And we allow foolish things
to tear our lives apart.

Far too many times we let
unimportant things into our minds
And then it's usually too late
to see what made us blind.

So be sure that you let people know
how much they mean to you
Take that time to say the words
before your time is through.

Be sure that you appreciate
everything you've got
And be thankful for the little things
in life that mean a lot.

From Every Changes in Life, You Can Learn Something Important...

In every change
that you experience in life,
there will be times when
you'll wonder if you can endure.
But you'll learn that facing
each diffuculty one by one
isn't so hard.
It's when you don't deal
with a situation
that it comes back
to confront you again.

Changes are sometimes very painful,
but they teach us
that we can endure
and that we can become stronger.
Everything that comes into your life
has a purpose,
but the outcome is in your hands...
by the action you take.
Be wise with your life,
be willing to endure,
and always be willing
to face life's challenges.

                               ~TO LOVE YOUR SELF~

It is rewarding to find someone you like
but it is essential to like your self,
It is quikening to recognize that someone
is a good and decent human being
but it is indespansable to view your self
                     as acceptable,
It is a delight to discover people who are worthy
of respect and admiration and love
but it is vital to believe your self deserving
                     of these things.

For you cannot live with someone else,
You cannot find your self in someone else,
You cannot be given a life by someone else,
Of all the people you will know in a lifetime,
You are the only one you will never leave or lose,
To the questions of your life,YOU are the only answer
To the problems of your life,YOU  are the only solution.

Before It's Too Late

If you have a tender message,
Or a loving word to say,
Do not wait till you forget it,
But whisper it today;
The tender word unspoken,
The letter never sent,
The long forgotten messages,
The wealth of love unspent -
For these some hearts are breaking,
For these some loved ones wait;
So show them that you care for them
Before it is too late.

Standing by,
All the way.
Here to help you through your day.

Holding you up,
When you are weak,
Helping you find what it is you seek.

Catching your tears,
When you cry.
Pulling you through when the tide is high.

Absorbing your voice,
When you talk.
Standing by when you learn to walk.

Just being there,
Through thick and thin,
All just to say, you are my friend.

This is for Mymy.... thanks for being there, and thank you most of all for the friendship....  :-*

Have you ever found a friend who makes your heart glow?
Someone who is wonderful, who you're honored to know,
Someone to laugh with, and sometimes to cry,
Someone who loves you when you don't know why.
Someone who just seems to understand you,
Someone who you love no matter what they do,
Someone who you think of day and night,
Someone who shows up when the time is just right.

Someone who shares all your ups and downs,
Someone you smile with, replacing your frowns,
Someone who appears whenever there is a need,
Surely you must know, God planted that seed.

These seeds God has planted here on earth
Cannot be measured by earthly worth.
They were planted deeply in your friend's heart,
By God's love placed here from the start.

Value those friendships, honor their decisions,
Never try to make their dreams your revisions,
Respect their feelings, never make demands,
Hold their love tightly in your hands.

Never be angry if you don't talk to them each day,
For a heart can be loving even from far away.
Trust in friendship, send a piece of your heart,
This is how friendship was intended from the start.

Hold their memories in your heart and mind,
Continue to love them all the time,
See them for what they really are -
True friends are Angels sent by God from afar

Words to Live By

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v480/norkay27/widesmile.gif

Accept that some days you're the pigeon,
and some days you're the statue.

Always keep your words soft and sweet,
just in case you have to eat them.

Always read stuff that will make you
look good if you die in the middle of it.

Drive carefully. It's not only cars
that can be recalled by their maker.

Eat a live toad in the morning and
nothing worse will happen to you for the rest of the day.

If you can't be kind,
at least have the decency to be vague.

If you lend someone $20,
and never see that person again,
it was probably worth it.

It may be that your sole purpose in life
is simply to serve as a warning to others.

Never buy a car you can't push.

Never put both feet in your mouth at the same time,
because then you don't have a leg to stand on.

Nobody cares if you can't dance well.
Just get up and dance.

The early worm gets eaten by the bird,
so sleep late.

When everything's coming your way,
you're in the wrong lane.

Birthdays are good for you;
the more you have, the longer you live.

Ever notice that the people who are late
are often much jollier than the people
who have to wait for them?

If ignorance is bliss,
why aren't more people happy?

You may be only one person in the world,
but you may also be the world to one person.

Some mistakes are too much fun to only make once.

Don't cry because it's over;
smile because it happened.

We could learn a lot from crayons:
some are sharp, some are pretty,
some are dull, some have weird names,
and all are different colors;
but they all have to learn to live in the same box.

A truly happy person is one
who can enjoy the scenery on a detour.

Happiness comes through doors
you didn't even know you left open.

Have an awesome day, and know
that someone has thought about you today....

Until Things Are Going Your Way Again

Things have not been
going your way lately.
I wish I could make it better
with a hug and a smile,
but unfortunately,
I know that is just not enough.

I know that sometimes it seems
as though evrything is against you,
but it is at those times
you must realize
that I am always with you.

Things soon will turn around for you,
and all of this will be
just a small setback
on your path to success.

Until that time comes,
remember that I am here for you
with a hug, a smile,
and a willingness to help you
in any way I can.

[ Note: You don't actually have to take the quiz. Just read this message straight through, and you'll get the point (an awesome one) that he is trying to make! ]

Charles Schultz's Philosophy

  1. Name the five wealthiest people in the world.

  2. Name the last five Heisman trophy winners.

  3. Name the last five winners of the Miss America contest.

  4. Name ten people who have won the Nobel or Pulitzer prize.

  5. Name the last half dozen Academy Award winners for best actor and actress.

  6. Name the last decade's worth of World Series winners.

How did you do?

The point is, none of us remember the headliners of yesterday.

These are no second-rate achievers. They are the best in their fields. But the applause dies. Awards tarnish. Achievements are forgotten. Accolades and certificates are buried with their owners.

Here's another quiz. See how you do on this one:

  1. List a few teachers who aided your journey through life.

  2. Name three friends who have helped you through a difficult time.

  3. Name five people who have taught you something worthwhile.

  4. Think of a few people who have made you feel appreciated.

  5. Think of five people you enjoy spending time with.

  6. Name half a dozen heroes whose stories have inspired you.

Easier?

The Lesson:

The people who make a difference in your life are not the ones with the most credentials, the most money, or the most awards. They are the ones that care.

Don't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia.

For gloomy days and fruitless years,
I do give thanks,for now I know
These were the things that helped me grow!

Once in an age, God sends to some
of us a friend who loves in us,
not a false imagining, an unreal
character, but, looking through
the rubbish of our imperfections,
loves in us the divine ideal of
our nature, --- loves, not the man
that we are, but the angel that we may be.

Irish Blessings

May,........

~ your joys be as bright as the morning, and your sorrows merely be shadows that fade in the sunlight of love. May you have enough happiness to keep you sweet, enough trials to keep you strong, enough sorrow to keep you human

~ you have warm words on a cold evening, a full moon on a dark night and a smooth road all the way to your door."

~ you always have walls for the winds, a roof for the rain, tea beside the fire, laughter to cheer you, those you love near you and all your heart might desire."

~ the raindrops fall lightly on your brow. May the soft winds freshen your spirit. May the sunshine brighten your heart. May the burdens of the day rest lightly upon you, and may God enfold you in the mantle of His love."

~ God grant you always...A sunbeam to warm you, a moonbeam to charm you, a sheltering Angel so nothing can harm you. Laughter to cheer you. Faithful friends near you. And whenever you pray, Heaven to hear you."

~ you have a rainbow for every storm, for every tear a smile, for every care a promise and a blessing in each trial. For every problem life sends, a faithful friend to share, for every sigh a sweet song and an answer for each prayer."

~ flowers always line your path and sunshine light your day. May songbirds serenade you every step along the way. May a rainbow run beside you in a sky that's always blue. And may happiness fill your heart each day your whole life through."

A Gift
by Taylor Hiigli

What have I done,
to deserve this gift I’ve received?
It is a gift without comparison,
that is more precious to me than can be believed.

I don’t know why I’ve been blessed,
with such a heavenly gift.
And if this is truly a dream,
then I never want this sleep to lift.

Why you chose to give me this gift,
is more than I can see.
But in return I promise,
that you will never lose me.

I will stay by you always;
never letting you fall.
And if you are ever in danger,
I will defend you until I fall.

For you are a gift,
that I hope never to lose.
And for as long as I live I’ll know,
no gift in this world deserves to be cherished more than you.

I feel this deserved to be read as many people as it reaches.  May it remind you of the things that truly matter in this theatre called LIFE...

"I was with the national tour of Les Miserables and we were performing in Salt Lake City. At the time, we were doing the poster sales for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS. If someone donated $50, they would receive a poster signed by the entire cast.

After one performance, I was in costume selling posters in the lobby. I noticed a little girl who was looking at me like I was the Messiah. I heard her say, "Please Mom, please, please, can I have a poster? Please, oh, please, please, please?" Her mom said no, and they walked away.

It was a moment I will never forget. In my left ear, quite distinctly, I heard a little whisper. It said, "Go, Doug, go." Suddenly, without giving it any more thought, I took off in full costume outside the theater. After walking through the crowds, I saw the girl and her mother down the block. They had already crossed the street. As I was running down the street in my Les Miserables costume, I thought that I was so busted. But I didn't really care. As I approached the girl, I said, "Excuse me." She turned around, and just stared. "You forgot your poster." I handed her a poster, and I was gone.

I turned around and ran back to the theater before anyone could say anything. I went to the company manager's office and I said, "I gave one of the posters away. Here is fifty dollars, my contribution to Broadway Cares."

A few days later, there was a letter that showed up on the callboard. It read: Dear cast of Les Miserables, you moved me so much. Thank you. I also want to thank you for giving my daughter this poster. I don't know who you were, but it was a nice young man, and he was gone before anyone could say thank you. Let me tell you a little about my daughter. She is sick. She was not expected to live past a very young age. She always wanted to see Les Miserables. They even snuck her out of the hospital that night so she could see the show. The tickets were a gift from a family friend. I am a single mom. Money is very tight. It broke my heart to not be able to buy the poster for my daughter. Thank you so much, whoever you are. Thank you, thank you, thank you."

The whole cast was standing around, weeping. I didn't say a word.

Four years later, the night before The Scarlet Pimpernel closed, I remember being bitter and jaded. Soon, I would be unemployed again. Out of nowhere, at the stage door, I heard a little voice. "Mr. Storm?" I thought, "Oh God, who's calling me 'Mr. Storm,' for crying out loud?" I looked down. I froze. It was that same little girl. "Hi. I knew you were in the show because I've been following it on the Internet. I brought you a little package. Here's a card." "Oh, my gosh, how are you doing? Do you want to come in? Are you seeing the show tonight?" "No," she said. "I'm not seeing the show tonight. I'm seeing it tomorrow. I'm seeing the last one." I said, "Why don't you come around tomorrow before the show? I'll take you backstage." I went upstairs and started putting on my makeup. I stopped for a second to read her card. "I just want to let you know that I've just been accepted to NYU Tisch School of the Arts for Drama, and I'm going to enroll because someday I want to give a kid a poster. Thank you for helping shape my life." I lost it.

In a moment of my own despair and selfish jaded bitterness, there was that kid. Everything came full circle. That alone is why I got into this business."

Here is another inspirational story:

                 OLD IS GOLD

The first day of school our professor introduced himself and challenged us to get to know someone we didn't already know.  I stood up to look around when a gentle hand touched my shoulder.

I turned around to find a wrinkled, little old lady beaming up at me with a smile that lit up her entire being.

She said, "Hi handsome.  My name is Rose.
'm 87 years old.  Can I give you a hug?"

I laughed and enthusiastically responded, "Of course you may!" and she gave me a giant squeeze.

"Why are you in college at such a young, innocent age?" I asked.

She jokingly replied, "I'm here to meet a rich man and have a couple of kids..."

"No seriously," I asked.  I was curious what may have motivated her to be taking on this challenge at her age.

I always dreamed of having a college education and now I'm getting one!" she told me.

After class we walked to the student union building and shared a chocolate milkshake.

We became instant friends.  Every day for the next 3 months we would leave class together and talk nonstop.  I was always mesmerized listening to this "time machine" as she shared her wisdom and experience with me.

Over the course of the year, Rose became a campus icon and she easily made friends wherever she went.  She loved to dress up and she reveled in the attention bestowed upon her from the other students.  She was living it up.
At the end of the semester we invited Rose to speak at our football banquet. I'll never forget what she taught us. She was introduced and stepped up to the podium.  As she began to deliver her prepared speech, she dropped her three by five cards on the floor.

Frustrated and a little embarrassed, she leaned into the microphone and simply said, "I'm sorry I'm so jittery.  I gave up beer for Lent and this whiskey is killing me!  I'll never get my speech back in order so let me just tell you what I know."
As we laughed she cleared her throat and began, "We do not stop playing because we are old; we grow old because we stop playing.

There are only four secrets to staying young, being happy, and achieving success.  You have to laugh and find humor every day.  You've got to have a dream.  When you lose your dreams, you die.

We have so many people walking around who are dead and don't even know it!

There is a huge difference between growing older and growing up.

If you are 19 years old and lie in bed for 1 full year and don't do one productive thing, you will turn 20 years old. If I am 87 years old and stay in bed for a year and never do anything I will turn 88.

Anybody can grow older.  That doesn't take any talent or ability.  The idea is to grow up by always finding opportunity in change. Have no regrets.

The elderly usually don't have regrets for what we did, but rather for things we did not do.  The only people who fear death are those with regrets."

She concluded her speech by courageously singing "The Rose."
She challenged each of us to study the lyrics and live them out in our daily lives.  At the year's end Rose finished the college degree she had begun all those years ago.

One week after graduation Rose died peacefully in her sleep.

Over 2,000 college students attended her funeral in tribute to the wonderful woman who taught by example that it's never toolate to be all you can possibly be.

When you finish reading this, please send this peaceful word of advice to your friends and family, they'll really enjoy it!

These words have been passed along in loving memory of ROSE.

REMEMBER, GROWING OLDER IS MANDATORY. GROWING UP IS MANDATORY. GROWING UP IS OPTIONAL. We make a Living by what we get, We make a Life by what we give.

God promises a safe landing, not a calm passage.  If God brings you to it, He will bring you through

Title:  [b]THE GREATEST ADVICE[/b]
Post by Gracia on Sep 20th, 2007, 8:08am
Don't date because you are desperate.
Don't marry because you are miserable.
Don't have kids because you think your genes are superior.
Don't philander because you think you are irresistible.

Don't associate with people you can't trust.
Don't cheat. Don't lie. Don't pretend.
Don't dictate because you are smarter.
Don't demand because you are stronger.

Don't sleep around because you think you are old enough and know better.
Don't hurt your kids because loving them is harder.
Don't sell yourself, your family, or your ideals. Don't stagnate!

Don't regress.
Don't live in the past.
Time can't bring anything or anyone back.
Don't put your life on hold for possibly Mr/Mrs Right.
Don't throw your life away on absolutely Mr Wrong because your biological clock is ticking.

Learn a new skill.
Find a new friend.
Start a new career.
Sometimes, there is no race to be won.
Only a price to be paid for some of life's more hasty decisions.

To terminate your loneliness, reach out to the homeless.
To feed your nurturing instincts, care for the needy.
To fulfill your parenting fantasies, get a puppy.
Don't bring another life into this world for all the wrong reasons.

To make yourself happy, pursue your passions and be the best of what you can be.
Simplify your life. Take away the clutter.
Get rid of destructive elements: abusive friends, nasty habits, and dangerous liaisons.
Don't abandon your responsibilities but don't overdose on duty.

Don't live life recklessly without thought and feeling for your family.
Be true to yourself.
Don't commit when you are not ready.
Don't keep others waiting needlessly.

Go on that trip. Don't postpone it.
Say those words. Don't let the moment pass.
Do what you have to, even at society's scorn.

Write poetry.
Love Deeply.
Walk barefoot.
Dance with wild abandon.
Cry at the movies.

Take care of yourself. Don't wait for someone to take care of you.
You light up your life.
You drive yourself to your destination.
No one completes you - except YOU.

It isn't true that life does not get easier with age.
It only gets more challenging.
Don't be afraid. Don't lose your capacity to love.
Pursue your passions.

Live your dreams.
Don't lose faith in God.
Don't grow old. Just grow YOU!

When you give someone your time, you are giving them a portion of your
life that you'll never get back.
Your time is your life.
That is why the greatest gift you can give someone is your time.

Relationships
take time and effort, and the best way to spell love is T-I-M-E
because the essence of love is not what we think or do or provide for others, but how much we give of ourselves.

Lol Grace.

In the beginning, God created the heaven and the earth, and populated the earth with Broccoli, Cauliflower and Spinach, green and yellow and red Vegetables of all kinds, so Man and Woman would live Long and Healthy Lives.
~
Then using God's great gifts, Satan created Ben and Jerry's Ice Cream and Krispy Creme Donuts. And Satan said, "You want chocolate with that?" And Man said, "Yes!" and Woman said, "and as long as you're at it, add some sprinkles." And they gained 10 pounds. And Satan smiled.
~
And God created the healthful Yogurt that Woman might keep the Figure that Man found so fair. ~
Satan brought forth white flour from the wheat, and sugar from the cane and combined them. And Woman went from size 6 to size 14.
~
So God said, "Try my fresh green salad." ~And Satan presented Thousand-Island Dressing, buttery croutons and garlic toast on the side. And Man and Woman unfastened their belts following the repast.
~
God then said, "I have sent you heart healthy vegetables, and olive oil in which to cook them." ~
And Satan brought forth deep fried fish and chicken-fried steak so big it needed its own platter. And Man gained more weight and his cholesterol went through the roof.
~
So God then created a light, fluffy white cake, named it " Angel Food Cake," and said, "It is good." ~
Satan then created chocolate cake and named it "Devil's Food."
~
God then brought forth running shoes so that His children might lose those extra pounds. ~
And Satan gave cable TV with
a remote control so Man would not have to toil changing the channels. And Man and Woman laughed and cried before the flickering blue light and gained pounds.
~
Then God brought forth the Potato, naturally low in fat and brimming with nutrition. ~
And Satan peeled off the healthful skin and sliced the starchy center into chips and deep-fried them. And Man gained pounds.
~
God then gave lean beef so that Man might consume fewer calories and still satisfy his appetite. ~
And Satan created McDonald's
and its 99-cent double Cheeseburger. Then said, "You want fries with that?" And Man replied, "Yes! And super size them!" And Satan said, "It is good." ~
And Man Went Into Cardiac Arrest.
~
God Sighed and Created
Quadruple Bypass Surgery.
~
Then Satan Created HMOs.

One night, at 11:30 p.m., an older African American
woman was standing on the side of an Alabama highway
trying to endure a lashing rain storm. Her car had
broken down
and she desperately needed a ride.
Soaking wet, she decided to flag down the next car.
A young white man stopped to help her, generally
unheard of in those conflict-filled 1960's. The man
took her to safety, helped her get assistance and
put her into a taxicab.

She seemed to be in a big hurry, but wrote down his
address and thanked him. Seven days went by and a
knock came on the man's door. To his surprise, a
giant console color TV was delivered to his home. A
special note was attached.

It read:
"Thank you so much for assisting me on the highway
the other night. The rain drenched not only my
clothes, but also my spirits. Then you came along.
Because of you, I was able to make it to my dying
husband's bedside just before he passed away... God
bless you for helping me and unselfishly serving
others."

Sincerely,
Mrs. Nat King Cole.
