My husband and I are a member of one of religious organization here in our place.  We have covenant card and we are encourage to do and act what is written on that card.  One is, pray at least 15 mins a day and read the Bible 15 mins a day too.  Honestly, though its embarrassing, i can't comply it.  I talk to God daily, I thank Him, I praise Him, I talk to Him as a friend and if i have to sum it all, it might reached 15 mins or more.  I'm working on it though, praying and kneeling at the same time for straight 15 mins that is.  It goes with reading the Bible, It's difficult for me to read the Bible for straight 15 mins and comprehend.  I don't know why. So instead, i'll read it by chapter. Two chapters the most, then I have to stop and continue the next day.  I hope God will forgive me for having that kind of weaknesses and I pray for strength to fight with it.  I aim to improve though.

Lord Teach us to Pray Part 2

Now that we that we spoken the format of Prayer, Lets speak of some things to keep in mind as you pray.
Sin Blocks Prayer.

John 9:31 Now we know that God heareth not sinners: but if any man be a worshipper of God, and doeth his will. Him he hearteth (KJV)

1 Peter 3:12   For the eyes of the Lord are upon the righteous ( those who are upright and in right standing with God), and his ears are attentive to their prayers.  But the face of the Lord is against those who practice evil [ to oppose them, to frustrate them, and defeat them]  ( Amplified Bible)

Psalms 34: 12-17  (ESV)
12) What man is there who desires life and loves many days, that he may see good?
13) Keep your tongue from Evil and your lips from speaking deceit.
14) Turn away from Evil and do good; seek peace and pursue it.
15) The eyes of the Lord are toward the righteous and his ears toward their cry.
16) The face of the Lord is against those who do evil, to cut off the memory of them from the earth.
17) When the righteous cry for help, the Lord hears and delivers them out of all their troubles.

So that the Lord hears our prayers and comes to our aid we must turn ourselves from our wicked ways.  Repentance is more then saying your sorry for what you have done. True Repentance is admitting what you have done is Sin and to separate your self from the sin.  It does you no good to apologize over and over for the same sin with out the effort to change.  Have to remember that if someone does something to hurt you and apologizes then does it again you don’t take them very serious the next time they apologize.  God if far above us and more forgiving then we are but it is not a reason to treat him irresponsibly when it comes to sin.  For we will one day be accountable to the Lord for all our sins, even us who have received Christ as Lord and accepting his salvation.

Psalms 139:23 Search me, O God, and know my heart! Try me and know my thoughts

This is so the Lord shall convict you In your heart so he will point out to you’re sin  so that you can repent of the sins even the ones that you are presently not aware of.

Sure you have heard of King David and Bathsheba, how one day David saw a woman bathing on her roof and lusted after her then committed adultery with her, Tried to trick her husband to have sex with her and when that failed he had her husband killed.  God sent Nathaniel to approach David over this sin and when David repented of this sin he wrote the Psalm 51  I won’t type it out but I would recommend that you read it so that you understand how to repent of your sins to the Father in heaven.

So when you pray these are the things to keep in mind. First offer Praise to God the Father Pray for his will be done. Pray for his Kingdom, then pray your petition what you NEED from Food to every thing. Confess your Sins Show your dependence upon God and acknowledgement  that his is the kingdom the power and the glory forever.  Pray for those who sin against you, pray for those who lead for you and those who you care for.  If your words are short and you know not what to say at the moment to the Lord sit in silence and just let the Lord search your heart.  If you sit in silence long enough you may feel something you need to bring to the Lord

Gracia I hope todays additions are more help in your prayer life, and will aid you in this. Praying is one of the hardest things to do for it is as much of relationship as it is worship.  So sometimes the words are hard to find.

When I pray I just tell HIM what's in my heart and the words just flows freely. I am sure HE will always understand what we say to HIM.
