Cuz my its like when we play in yahoo chat like scrabble, pool, billiard, literati etc.... there are ppl who can watch the players .... Iwish we could apply it here too....the members who wants to join can play and some members of ac1 can watch the game ;)

Tournament in ac1 hows that?? hehehe....That would be fun i think .... anway the site that capri did is to unite all the regulars of ac1 right? Well outside can play too but i prefer only those who are registered here.....

sorry about the duplicate smilies...I'll take care of it soon. The problem is, when I get requests for so many smilies, some of them have the same names. I also don't have a lot of spare time to add them, so, I have to take some "short cuts" to add more and keep the masses happy. I'll try to get that fixed this weekend.

I would like to know if there is a thread/place on the site where every box/function on the "post reply" page is fully explained as to the use of this function and exactly how to apply these tools to the posts??

I am a relative "newbie" to the board, and would like to use some of the tools when I post a message, and Im not exactly sure of what each tool does and how to us it.

Just how/who determines when a topic/thread is locked? I noticed that some threads get locked a month or so after the last post, while some threads are left for 4 or more months since the last post. ???

Admin/Moderators determined what thread to be locked or so.

Depends on how active a certain thread.

And also to give chance to the other new thread.

Maybe I just haven't noticed some of the inactive thread 4 months since the last post.

Like I said I'm doing some board cleaning.

All closed thread are kept in the Best and Closed thread, and can be re-open depends on the requests.

As for the matter of the exact timing of closing threads, I think all the moderators are doing a great job. I also think that some threads go silent for months then all of a sudden spring to life again and that some of these threads should stay on the board even if no one has posted in a couple of months.

I often find threads that I posted on a month or so back and long since forgotten about and pick up where I left off.

But that's just my two-cents. [smiley=hat2.gif]

Most of the thread in AC1 category has to remain there no matter how inactive they are it’s for the benefit of those new members/chatters.

Personally, I do not use them. The content providers that I have on my site may use them though. In particular, the Yabb software does use cookies, but for sessions management only. Cookies are the only way for a Perl script to manage sessions.

Hernando, I have already talked to MyGirl about that problem too. Its slow because when you hit the reply button, it drags with it all 26 pages of previous posts. I hope MyGirl can fix that real soon. I have secret though, after I hit reply and nothing happens, I click the stop button on the top of my browser and lo and behold, the reply box loads.

Can you hear the drums, Hernando?? ;D

Yep...The Suggestion about adding a character counter is a Good one. I know that alot of us have experiences the frustration of having a long post get lost while trying to post it. [smiley=knife.gif]

I also have another suggestion...

I would like to know if we can have a "Page Retirement Number"?

That means that after a Thread had reached say....20 pages, the Moderator closes the Thread and starts a new one. I suggest this because when a Thread gets over a certain number of pages it gets very hard to post anything when the server has to drag all the previous posts with it. The best example of this is Teagirl's "Cup Of Tea" thread.

I just think if there was an offical number then everyone won't be surprised that the thread has been locked.

Thanks for all the suggestions....we're going to sort things out and think of the best way on how we can make the board much better and facilitate all the suggested features.

As for needspeed's suggestion about all the thread that will reached the maximum of 20 pages....the moderator of each category should be inform by this. We will make a formal announcement for the regular posters and for the moderators as well.

Dale, what do you mean by "glow"? I'm not sure what that meant.
The problems with the code started with the Recycle Bin mod. It really made a mess of things. Also, when adding modules to this software, they never add quite right and I have to do hours of hand edits to the code to make things work again. Once I know what "glow" is, I will try to track down the problem.

The "Glow" feature is part of the color and Font extras package.

FYI: I just previewed this post and the Glow feature seems to be working, but only within the text portion. I have the glow feature on my "catsmiley" on my Profile..and that's not working. So there appears to be holes still in the code.

OK dale, I see what you are talking about now. I never seen it with an image before, but what I will do is take a look at the YaBB forum and see if others are having the same problem. It may be something they broke in the security update or possibly broke on one of the modules I installed.

Gang....I gotta tell Ya, I really like the "New" look of Free these days. It took me a week or so to get used to the new color scheme, but now it seems like it has been here forever. Blue is such a soothing color...isn't it?

I have a Little Q That I was wondering about.

It deals with the "New" Icon that is next to the topic of the Thread. I was wondering just what the Icon means and why is it there?

Does it mean that the thread itself is new...or that there are new replies in that thread? If you look at some of the Sections, the "New" Icon is next to almost every thread....except the New Threads. I just thought this Icon was useless since the last post in some of those threads was almost a year ago, yet the "New" Icon was still there. (Kind of redundate if you ask me Ehh). Is there a System function that can be Reset to make the "New" Icon appear for say the first 30 or 60 days after a Thread is started?

Just wondering....

I suggest you to go to Asian Connections section under "Marieta-Trial and Error". You can do your trial and error there.Just try clicking options,until you figure out how and used of everything.If you see a colorful post and want to see how it was made,you can click "quote" of the post to view how it was decorated.

a suggestion ree only let a moderator only have 2 sections to look after at a time, im posting nice polite comments in here and if im am not liked by a moderator they get erased all the time, if they only have 2 rooms at time to look after then we can get a much fairer reply form different posters in this froum as long as they are bot rude or impolite then they should be erased.

Just a thought!!!Lots of times we posted some issues that are pretty sensitive and debatable....All of us, we tend to share our views and joke about it.(goffing around)..Do not misunderstood some other posters that they are making fun of some issues. Tonight (your morning), I will be working on colors. There is no ready made template to go along with the Christmas wallpaper, so I will need to do color changes by hand. It will take me a couple of hours to do and I'll need some uninterrupted time to do it. I won't have that time until tonight. I didn't know that the wallpaper was drowning out the fonts in the navigations controls until later, but I will fix them. I will introduce a new color scheme after New Year's Day.

To My Fellow Moderators,
The rules and procedures of our functions as moderators are quite clear. And to repeat some of them, we're advised not to delete any post. And if a post violated the rules, all we have to do is to edit it like the way we were instructed.

As one of the moderators, I was asked/informed by a certain member and a moderator, yesterday that some posts were deleted (again) particularly under "Home, Garden and Pets" and "Listen To The Beat" sections, which made the poster upset and hesitate from keep replying/posting. I suppose every moderator knows his/her functions especially those who have been moderating for already a year or longer. Let us not put our personal reasons in our rules and functions as moderators and use the privilage in "controlling" posts.

I hope all of us to contribute our parts to make this forum alive, clean and fair. Let us reckon and regard this forum as our own "hang out" place ,yet open to everyone who wants to come in and join, and let ourselves the hosts.

I don't understand this,because as far as I know, I didn't ask you anything such of these things you mentioned. How dare you to tell me I don't have the right to give my reaction to what was done WRONG. I am not questioning you. I am TELLING you that what you did was WRONG. You obviously followed YOUR OWN rules, INSTEAD of what were instructed to us. It is VERY clear there in "HOW TO MODERATE A THREAD" that we DON'T DELETE any post. All we can do ONLY is to EDIT post, if a post violates the rules, such as rude or hateful posts, and do like how we were instructed. In that case, the poster will know why his/her post was made unreadable. It is OUR responsibity, and not only yours, not to tolerate posts that are against the rules BUT we have the procedures on how to correct them, and that NOT to delete them.

Actually, there was a "filter" in place for such words, but it appears it was turned off. I will turn it back on.
As for the deletion of drug related posts, I didn't see them. I'm no drug user but I do know about it having my older brother addicted enough to affect his health. He's off them now, but his body will never be the same. If someone says they smoke pot, it does not bother me and it is their personal choice. If it is a healthy debate on the legalization of pot, I'm not going to do anything about that either. Where would I draw that line? If it were an advocation to get people to use pot, how to grow it, bag it and sell it, then I would take issue. I would have to use the judgement of my 44 years in life and my education to know what to do and how to handle it.
If any moderator here isn't sure if a post is breaking them or not, let me know and I'll take the heat for you. Moderating is a gray area. Modding posts can make several people angry or happy at the exact same time. What I ask of posters is, let's have fun here and keep the postings here fun, informational, educational and tasteful. What I ask of moderators is the same thing.

I think the "F" words can be allowed at certain threads, like the Jokes and Humor sections. Especially when the punchline of the joke is right at using the "nasty" words. As long as it's not being personally used by the posters when commenting/replying, I do not see any harm in reading those words. There are words we can use anyway in lieu of the "F" words.

Thank you Levy ;). Twinnie, I always try to be fair in my judgement of others. ;)Besides, deleting a post is very unnecessary. We do not even know for sure if the deleted post/posts really has gone beyond the limit because we never had a chance to read them. The administration is right, we can just edit them, that is IF the posters have REALLY crossed the line. I agree also with what Saffire said in her post above, let others voice their opinion on the matter first. We want everyone to enjoy the forum, right? And I think most of the posters are very intelligent people who knows what they are doing/posting. If a moderator thinks a poster is going out of line, maybe he/she should get a second opinion first, before doing anything drastic.

Coochie, the text of the bar is black and the background is darker green. If I change the text color down there, it will adversly affect the text in other areas. Try adjusting the brightness higher on your monitor as well as the contrast control. I think then you will see it fine. I can, and I keep my monitor quite bright so I think that will solve that problem for you.

I never had any problem with the colors. Although when i first saw it I thought I was having computer problems again because everything looks so different from the way it used to be. ;DThen I noticed the design and I thought they must have done something to bring the spirit of x'mas at the forum. ;DVery nice thoughts, admin. ;)great colors too!

Hmm Sounds good C-Q..theres a forum I always visit apart from our one.. well the reason why I go there is they got a lota designs and works like Thongs, G-Units (G-strings) displayed all over .. actually it cleares my eye sight and helps a lot for many ;D Why not we do something like that? hehehe j/k .. hmmmmm i have suggestion, when i read a page and get to the bottom, i have to scroll up to select a new folder, it would be convenient to have an opposing set of folders at the bottom of the page

not that i wanna sound picky lol i think u all did great job, i like the new background lots

yellow text is hard to read btw

My nasty experience of being harrassed in room made me realise how vulnerable we all are inhere. How I wish this beautiful haven be made exclusive only for 'family' members. I believe most members are mature, educated and responsible enough and will never use any information found here to attack an individual for their selfish pleasure. [smiley=computer.gif]

We aim to invite more members here, in this forum and I don't personally think it's good to make it viewable exclusively only for the members. We can't either just invite someone and let him/her register without having an idea or seeing what are we introducing about, without letting the person visit first and decide. Besides, one can register anytime, just to do his/her purpose of lurking.

Well, I also believe , there are people who remain as guests and lurk or read of my posts, my blog and even see pictures of me, and talk ,including criticisms about me. But you know what, I don't care. I know myself better than anybody else. ;)

Exactly Kris. We would probably only have a quarter of the users in here if it were an entirely "closed" forum. I want people to feel welcome and to join no matter where they come from. Visitors are welcome to view postings, but cannot "shout", post or view member profiles. Also, I will not allow any Yahoo chat "cloner" dictate how I design, manage and maintain my website or this forum. If I turn off access for guest viewing, I will have let this single person (who is not a member of this forum) control how this forum operates.
