I think it's about changing the member group/level names Cooch...
We used to have these member group names according to number of posts per member...but i dunno it changed to something like "beginner", "certified", etc.

Innocent - New Member

I have been thinking for new group names ,ReeBop. But I think these new ones you have created are fine. They are good.

I am thinking you should also have your personal name. What about "Vinyl" ?  Hahaha. Joke.  ;D

By the way, I will keep thinking.

Noooooooooooooooooo! We Already have Too many Members who like to post Non-Sense just to "Pad" the Post Count and Artificially inflate their own importance. That would only Encourage that type of Behavior.

I can Appreciate-Respect someone more when they post only when they truly have something to say, and I find that this old saying Applies....

Dale,
I totally agree with you. Believe me, it even sometimes takes my appetency to post. But you know....what can we do? We have the freedom to speak up here, there is or no sense. So, for me, as long as the rules and regulations are not going to be violated, I won't mind anymore. Although, as I have said ....you know what I mean, do you?  ;)

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

On the other side, I understand that  a forum  is a public meeting place for open discussion, a medium of open discussion or voicing of ideas. So, it is clear then that a forum consists of different kinds (average, poor, intelligent, rude, decent , snobbish (LOL), rich, etc. ) of people with different thoughts/ideas according to their capacity to acquire, apply and share knowledge . However, it's our choice to join in the discussion. And personally, I don't go and join a discussion in which involves people or thoughts I can not get along with. Simple as that.

I want also to mention, that being a member on other sites and forums, this is still the neatest forum I have ever joined ;D. Some or most of the forums I have been are really open that there's no limitation of posting. I mean, they are like "say what you wanna say", "damn me, I'll damn you" ways of posters and I noticed they were never been violators. So, what I am saying, is I am glad posts in this forum are being monitored.

To be honest, there are very few posters I find annoying, dumb, and fond of posting unnecessary posts in this forum, but again, I have learned that wether I like them or not, I must have to accept their involvelments and thoughts. And since I don't like them, or their posts, I don't join. Simple as that.  ;D

Just my thoughts.  [smiley=detective.gif]

Isn't the idea of a forum is to exchange ideas  either with sense or none sense at all just to have fun?  If we have to agree with anything that is written here,   then this forum is boring.  Also, sometimes its good to have a variety..if we dont have anyone that is disagreeing to our ideas, then end of discussion right?  He!He!he! Remember Dale, never  argue with a woman!!!Lesson one..JOKE JOKE JOKE ..BEND OVAH !!!
On the other hand, I can understand we need  respect to who  ever is posting their ideas  as well, but its easier to differentiate who is joking and not joking here.  Its nice to add humor sometimes..either non-sense it makes it more alive...  Sometimes, there are heated debate that requires some serious talks and that needs to be respected...however, again, it is us through moderator to redirect to the point...just a thought..  [smiley=spank.gif]
Quality is always applies to anything..I agree. but depends  also how you use it..(WINK) .now let me check that quality of yours Dale..oh Dale!!!!He!He!He!SMile   wink [smiley=omfg.gif]

I have seen some post/thread too that don't make sense. It's not just the "discussions" that are in questions here. Some of the threads are created I think because they misunderstood what to do when one becomes a member of this forum. I guess we can't expect it to be perfect since there is no screening committee for new membership. Anyone is allowed/invited to join even if they do not enjoy writing/reading/postings. I think some members only joined because they are being "harassed" into signing up. Thus, after becoming a member, we never heard from them again.

I don't feel I've ever harassed anyone in joining this forum.  I also hope that people have not been harassed by others to join this forum.  I never expect every single post to be "meaningful".  The many forums I have been on, many posts were only a single sentence or word.  I don't hold much to the number of posts that anyone has in their total.  In my years on the Monochrome BBS, I have never kept count, nor has the count really been important.  I am though, proud of being a member of that forum since the early 90's.  In many forums I've read over the years (since my Compuserve days in the 80's), I've seen many types of general topic forums.  Some have been fun, others have not.  I read Slashdot everyday I'm online, yet I have never posted to it.  Same with OSNews.
Back to my original intent, I wished to change the names of the levels of posting to this forum.  I was looking for a change from those being used.  I did not want this to become a debate on the merits of total amounts of posts.  I did set things back to pretty much what the default settings of the software had.  Since all of you are members of this community, I wished your thoughts on these "titles".  In no way, shape or form do I look any differently on those who have 25 posts or 2500.  Many here have far more than me.  That fact does not bother me the least.  I want a fun place to hang out when you have the time to do so.  I hope everyone shares that thought.

Administrator, I do share the exact thought.

I have never harrased anyone to join in this forum, either. I invite. From guiding them to register, to how to post, and even to how to use features, until they get familiarized, are what all I do. I believe most or all of those that I invited to join, enjoy the forum as I do. And when I invite, I make sure they will have fun ,too.  ;D

Maybe "harass" is a very strong word for me to use. Let me rephrase it. Sometimes, we invite people, they say yes they will join. Then we insists they do it right away, or that everytime we see the person, we always ask them them as to "when" they are going to join till they decided to do it just to get it over and done with? It's true, this forum should be a place where you can freely express your thoughts/opinion without being insulting or getting too personal (attacking the poster's person).  Before I invite anyone I always check if they enjoy reading or debating issues. Sometimes i give them the link to the forum so they can check it for themselves when they feel like it. Anyway, let's all work together to make this forum as informative and interesting as a forum can be. I want to make a suggestion too. I think sometimes we should make a reaction/comment  to some posts, especially if they are new members,  to make the poster feel that his/her thoughts are being read or that their opinion matters to us. If you are already doing this then please forget I ever mentioned it. I'm only saying this coz sometimes I notice that some of the old regular posters here only give comments to those that they are close friends with and never to those who are strangers to them. Even if the posts do not warrant a reply, let's try and say something just to make them feel welcome or "important". I hope I am not being too forward with my comments/suggestions. If I am, I apologize. But I do want this forum to attract people that will actively participate and not just be readers. It's alright for those who just like to read and seldom give comments and suggestions. But if someone likes to give comments/suggestions but only choose who to reply to...well then.... :P ;) ;)I know I tend to be opinionated at times and I blabber a lot, so let me spank myself :P [smiley=spank.gif] [smiley=spank.gif] [smiley=spank.gif] [smiley=roll.gif] [smiley=roll.gif] [smiley=roll.gif]

I have'nt even begun to make suggestions yet  lol I merely tried to help Coochie figure out what Reebop meant by copy-pasting last years' suggestion by Mylane and May (http://www.1freeworld.net/cgi-bin/Yabb/YaBB.cgi?board=feed;action=display;num=1090532705).

--------------------------------------

Initially people join the forum out of curiosity.  They want to see what this is all about.  Just like me when I first learned about this from Graeme that time he was on the hotseat.  I did'nt join right away but merely read the various threads and took it all in.  Only 3 months thereafter did I register as a member and started posting away.  People join out of their own free will and in their own time.  Some people may have joined and never got to share any of their opinions or views on any topic, and forgot they ever joined at all.  Or some may have been too busy to follow up on their posts.  But hey I'm seeing members who have been absent for a long time and got back on the saddle because at some point they were reminded about the forum from hearing about it in the chatroom.

Ouch, amiga!! I mentioned that,  coz I talked to someone and she said the forum is cool but she doesn't have time to write nor read. She joined coz she got invited. I asked her why she signed up. She said she's embarassed to decline the invitation. I was just stating a fact, not accusing anyone :P. Im also freely expressing my thoughts.

Are we still looking for member group or member ranking names according to the number of posts?
