Title: The Dutch Comic of Mohammed Post by Kitch on Mar 8th, 2006, 8:16am For years the media in Europe and the US have become quite secular, having no fear or respect for God. So for at least the last decade, the Media has poked at people of the Christian faith like they were simple or less people. Yet as Christians even if we are insulted we allow the media to continue there slide of hand comments. For we learned a lot in the reformation, you can’t make a person believe the way you want them to. I have read many articles and seen many comics etc. that I found to be insulting to my faith, but since we are all responsible for our own souls I can not judge them for their sin. They may not fear God now, and that is between them and God on the day he passes Judgment upon them. With acts of terrorism caused by Muslim men bringing the faith of Islam in to public eye, these same people that ridicule the Christian faith now turn there guns of slander upon Islam. I find this as bad as their attacks on the Christian faith, for to poke fun a person for their faith is like grade school name calling. If you don’t agree with how a person feels or belief’s slandering them is not the way to approach them. However I will never say sensor the media for the moment you start doing that, you can start to erode other liberties, like freedom of religion. I feel the comic strip was very much in the wrong, but I feel the acts of retaliation that have arisen since the comic strip is far worst. The Pakistan Christians that have been beating or the Christian villages that have been burned in Nigeria because of the comic strip is ridiculous. The Christians has nothing to do with the comic strip and I doubt they would even support it. That is equal for me hurting you, for a picture in Baghdad that I find offensive. These attacks on your fellow citizens because of this comic strip is validating the opinion of the person that drew the comic. Few Europeans and even less Americans have read anything about Islam, Most people in the West only know what they see Muslim people doing on the news on the quick 30 second news clips. You represent your faith to most of the Western world and when we see you on the news vandalizing synagogues, attacking Christians, burning American flags, strapping on bombs killing people at random the Western World will look at you as barbarians. Specially since true followers of the Christian faith teaches us to love our enemy and that is still in the secular mind set, when we see people acting barbaric we will assume that they are barbaric. It isn’t a fair judgment, yet we for the most part don’t go an assault the Muslims living among us and when someone does, we give the Muslim individual the same protection under the law. I do realize that is not every Muslim participating in these acts, just like you have to realize that every person in the West does agree or supports such bad behavior. You can’t make a person believe what you believe, and violent actions will only affirm their beliefs. You will never win the side of these people that do not fear God nor man with acts of violence |

Title: Re: The Dutch Comic of Mohammed Post by Wicked_Witch on Mar 12th, 2006, 5:33am I agree, Kitch. That carricature is done in bad taste. But I guess we can't stop other from reacting too if they feel insulted by it. I just hope it will not get blown out of proportions. Because these things may escalate to something even worse. And can you imagine having another war just because of comic strips? |
