Title: Manila Penn Post by kim on Dec 6th, 2007, 6:02am This is a part of a news report on http://gmtristan.com/trillanes-rebels-invade-manila-peninsula-hotel/ if you want to read more of it just visit the site: Trillanes, Rebels Invade Manila Peninsula Hotel 29 Nov, 2007 Uncategorized, Videos November 29, 2007 - Makati, Philippines. Senator Antonio Trillanes, who was jailed before for a previous mutiny against the government, is at it again. This morning, Trillanes and his supporters marched from the Makati Regional Trial Court at around 10:30am and proceeded to the Manila Peninsula Hotel (just a few blocks away from our office). There, after talking to the media, announced that he, together with Gen. Danilo Lim. An APC “Simba” smashed into the hotel which housed Trillanes, his gang and several mediamen who refuesed to go out. Even Philippine vice-president Teofisto Guingona went to the hotel to show his support. As of this writing, Trillanes, Lim and their supporters have surrendered peacefully and the “Makati standoff” seemed to have been resolved peacefully. From this coverage by Inquirer, Trillanes gives this statement about the siege; “We’re going out for the sake of the safety of everybody, for your sake because we cannot live with our conscience if some of you get hurt or get killed in the crossfire,” said Trillanes, addressing the media. “If there’s a loser here it’s the Filipino nation because she’s [Arroyo] still there,” he added, noting that he was ready to face the consequences of his action. Brigadier General Danilo Lim, who was with Trillanes, said this was not the end, calling the incident an “unfinished business.” Now what can I say about the whole siege? Well it is a failure and it was doomed to fail from the start. There were four main characters is this "action comedy mini series" (Why mini series? well coz this is the second time they did this and there will be more). Our so called patriotic Senator Antonio Trillanes, our ever so energetic ex vice president Tiofisto Guingona, Our dearly beloved ::) Gen. Danilo Lim and last but not the least is the ever so holy n righteous Bishop Labayen.... (out of respect for the CBCP i will not comment about Labayen)... Trillanes and his men were paid a hefty sum of money to stage the failed Oakwood mutiny and they had financial backers with this last one as well. He said that they want a transition group to lead the country before another election? sound good huh? I wonder if they (including him since he is the "transition council" or what ever they call themselves) will actually step down and really allow an election. Keep in mind that when Marcos first declared martial law his original plan was to only have it for 6 months just to restore order in the country.... Well.... Power corrupts even the saints.... Eerrr... what was Gen. Lim's part in all this? ??? Who is he again? :P I mean does he even have supporters? I'd probably have to research more about him :D :D :D Now what can I say about Tiofisto Guingona... Isn't he suppose to be in some retirement home sitting on a rocking chair and waiting for teh sun to set? :P... I have no idea why he was even there... I also think that is was soooooo funny when the PNP just released him with no charges what so ever. ;D ;D Is he that so irrelevant? ::) Post away ppl ;) |

Title: Re: Manila Penn Post by Wicked_Witch on Dec 6th, 2007, 10:36am Lol, Kimpot. You may not be aware of it but Trillanes is my cousin. His mother and my mother are first cousins, his grandmother and my grandmother are sisters. I was Trillanes' "nanny" when I first came to live in Manila because I stayed in their house while looking for a job, and to earn my keep, I volunteered to take care of him. He was only 4 years old at that time. His dead father was a member of the Armed Forces of the Philippines and is very strict on discipline. Sonny was the youngest, all the 4 sons and 1 daughter are named "Antonio" (the girl, the eldest is named Antonia.) I think he took after his father who were always imposing military discipline inside the house. In the morning when everyone has to leave (her mother to work at Camp Aguinaldo and the kids to school), when the father said "Ok, you only got 10 minutes then if you are not in the car, I am not going to wait for anyone!" And true to his word, he would leave behind any of his kids who were not ready that sometimes they are forced to skip school because the father left without them. Everyone would scramble and I would run outside to hand them their lunchpacks. But Sonny was the only one who was not afraid of his father. So I think he took after his father in more ways than one, especially in being idealistic. The father was so dead set against Marcos, but father didn't have the guts like Sonny. I will admit that the first time during the Magdalo coup, they were paid to stage a rebellion. But somehow in the course of his "jail" terms, he has developed this idea that he really can do something to help the country by convincing people to go against GMA. As a family, even in our wildest imaginations, we would never have thought that he would be interested in joining politics. No one in my clan has ever been involved in politics even in the old days. His the first politician in our clan. And I was very proud of him when I read from a magazine article that he made a history by being the first politician to win a seat from inside his jail cel. Even Ninoy Aquino failed to do that, it sez. My point is, he's really sincere in his quest to help the country. Too bad, his timing is always wrong and he didn't have that many supporters who are willing to go out and voice their sentiments. Just like everyone else, they are waiting to see first if he will gain more supporters, and then make their moves. Typical filipino trait, always playing safe. Sonny was advised to take it slowly, to build a more concrete plan then put it into actions. But I guess he got impatient and frustrated coz he can't do anything more from inside his "jail" cell. We thought he has a future in politics. Now it's over even before it began. There's a common joke now inside the family, that his next move will be to escape and join the rebels. Hehehe! |
