And its not like a regular sequal because it lets u know there is a second part and there is supposed to be a 3rd part as well and u dont have to wait a whole damn year to see it it will be out this summer. Now thats how a sequel is made Quenton Tarrentino style. lol And for all u 70s buffs, Starsky and Hutch will be out this summer. I wish they wouldnt do it, but they are. Title: Re: Upcoming Movies Post by mylane on Feb 5th, 2004, 7:26pm Movies that I'm looking forward to: 1. King Kong - Remake by Peter Jackson starring Naomi Watts 2 The next Batman installment - by Christopher Nolan starring Christian Bale By the way, the next batman installment is entitled: Batman: Intimidation and theres also rumors that Viggo Mortensen will act as a villain called the reaper |
||
Title: Re: Upcoming Movies Post by tarantada on Feb 17th, 2004, 8:05pm The rumor that Viggo Mortensen's in the new Batman movie as the Reaper turns out to be true, looks like the movie's inspired by the Batman: Year Two story in the comics, which was also partly the source for the Batman: Mask of the Phantasm animated movie years ago. The cast list so far for Christopher Nolan's Batman: Intimidation Game are Christian Bale as Batman, Michael Caine as Alfred, and Cillian Murphy (the bloke who woke up from a coma in 28 Days Later) as Harvey Dent. :) |

Title: Re: Upcoming Movies Post by teagirl on Feb 22nd, 2004, 4:17pm The Passion of Christ directed by Mel Gibson starring: James Caviezel In a nutshell: Its a film detailing the final hours and crucifixion of Jesus Christ. I want to see what the controversy is all about. Reviews are mixed but a lot of those who watched these film left the movie theatres stunned and in awe of what Gibson has done. He is a devout Catholic by the way, and this is his way of "paying up for all his sins"---an offering of his talent which is praised by many. |

Title: Re: Upcoming Movies Post by mylane on Jun 12th, 2004, 5:27am The Bourne Supremacy Plot Summary When a Chinese vice-premier is executed by notorious assassin Jason Bourne, it causes serious trouble and hubbub in the CIA. Why? There is no "Jason Bourne", as that name is just a cover for CIA agent David Webb(Damon), so it appears that someone has taken the "Bourne identity" away from him, creating a diplomatic crisis between the U.S.A. and China. It's up to the real "Bourne" to find out who's behind this ruse, and hopefully return peace to the two nations before they go to war over it, while also protecting his girlfriend, Marie Kreutz(Potente), whose life is threatened by this latest imbroglio. Meanwhile, Nicolette(Stiles), who was the only survivor of the events in the first movie besides David/Jason and Marie, finds herself being suspected by her CIA superiors as being in cahoots with Jason. Credited cast: Matt Damon .... Jason Bourne/David Webb Franka Potente .... Marie Helena Kreutz Joan Allen .... Agent Helen Landy Tomas Arana Brian Cox .... Ward Abbott Tom Gallop Gabriel Mann .... Zorn Wanja Mues .... Hotel Clerk Karel Roden Barnaby Smith .... CIA Techie Julia Stiles .... Nicolette Oliver Tautorat .... Navy officer Karl Urban Can't wait to see this one. ;D |

Title: Re: Upcoming Movies Post by thebeast on Jun 13th, 2004, 11:32pm Walt Disney will be putting out a movie later this summer or maybe in early fall called Friday Night Lights. I read this book about 10 years ago. It was one of the best sports books I have ever read. Its a story about a Texas High School football team in Odessa, Texas. Even though I am an Oklahoma Sooner in every way. I know Texas High Schools has the best football players in America. Most stay in Texas and play college football, but all the real good ones come to the University of Oklahoma and play college football there because they want to win national champions. Anyway, if the movie is half as good as the book, I would recomend it to everyone. |

Title: Re: Upcoming Movies Post by need4speed8dalejr on Jun 30th, 2004, 1:47am Ohh dear, Firstoff, Michael Moore's film Fahrenheit 9/11 (which I haven't seen yet so in all fairness I won't comment on directly) is in no way giving fuel to terrorists. How do you figure that? Terrorists already hate everything about Western society, and one movie will not make any difference in their idiology towards Western culture and values. I think what you mean is that your scared it might create doubt in alot of American's minds that good ol' George Dubbay is doing more harm than good. Next, there is no such thing as so called facts. It is either a fact or it's fiction. There is no such thing as half truths. It is either the truth or a lie. There are of course different view-points to every debate, and that's where the problem starts. You consider this movie as sending the wrong message and creating more problems than it solves, but I don't think so. I don't want to get into a pissing debate, and this isn't the proper thread for that anyway, but here is what I think is going on. I say that after September 11th 99.9 percent of Western society was so appalled by what they saw, that they backed the actions of The President totally, as did I. I said "go & get 'em boys". And for the better part of a year or two, things went unquestioned by everyone. But now that the dust has settled a bit and people start to think things through, and shine some light on dark corners. Many Americans get upset that people have the gall to question The President & his policies in a time of war, and question his action & motives immediately after September 11th. I say if his actions were good intentioned and that he was honest, then The President and his supporters have nothing to fear. But if he did some things wrong and with motives other than the best interest of The United States and her allies in mind, then go ahead and shine that flashlight on as many dark corners as possible. |

Title: Re: Upcoming Movies Post by thebeast on Jul 4th, 2004, 6:32pm Im not gonna waste my money on Fahrenheit 9/11. And as far as Michael Moore goes, he is a lard ass with a belly full of hot air and a mouth twice as big as his fat ass. Seems to me poor Michael wants some attention. I guess accepting his award at the oscars a few years ago and making a complete idiot out of himself wasnt enough. Need4speed is right its either fact or fiction and Michael Moores point of view is 100% bullshit. You dont make a movie poking fun at what happened on 9/11. Its easy to second guess anyone. If you think this movie is brilliant. I guess you would think all the Scary Movie sequels are oscar material also. I hope this movie does bomb. Michael Moore is no different than one of these sleazy ambulance chasing lawyers. Why didnt he release this movie a year ago. I will tell you y cuz it wasnt and election year thats why. This is a movie to put a thorn in Bush's side simply for the fact that Michael Moore doesnt think the United States should be in the Middle East. If he has such a problem with it y dont he run for president. I tell you why cuz he is a spineless coward who has never had an original idea in his whole life. The only thing Michael Moore is concerned about is Michael Moore and how to line his pockets with other peoples misfortunes. He is one of these kind of dudes that if captured by the enemy he would spill the whole pot of beans just to save his own ass. Hell he would even give up his own mother if it would save his own life or line his pockets with money. He is about as unamerican as they come. He likes to play games but cheat in order to win. |

Title: Re: Upcoming Movies Post by teagirl on Aug 3rd, 2004, 3:56pm Sylvia Gwyneth Paltrow I'm thinking this would be a riveting film as Sylvia Plath (The Bell Jar) was such a celebrated author during her time. Memoirs of a Geisha Michelle Yeoh I've always liked Michelle Yeoh and I'm glad she's doing this one which is going to be directed by none other than Steven Spielberg. I've read the book some couple of years ago and was impressed with the stories about what young japanese women go through to become geishas. I cant wait to see in film the exquisitely described Japanese kimonos that became somehow elemental in the plot. Memoirs of a Geisha by Arthur Golden---definitely a good read. Hope the movie is worthwhile too. |

When I read the news that finally, they will start filming this one, I was so excited. Imagine, 7 years after! Anyway, no less than Steven Spielberg, who will direct the movie and I like the actors they have chosen to play the characters too. Michelle Yeoh as Mameha (so perfect for this role!!), Zyang Ziyi as Sayuri (lead role, yep she looks the part and Ken Watanabe as the Chairman whom Sayuri has fallen in love with. I think I will read the book again! |

Title: Re: Upcoming Movies Post by thebeast on Sep 13th, 2004, 10:54pm A movie called "Hustle" is coming up next sunday on ESPN. Its a story about baseballs great or not so great Pete Rose and his gambling problem. The gambling problem that got Rose exspelled from baseball for life. There is a lot of controversy involving this. Lots of people think Rose should be in the hall of fame due to what he accomplished on the field. Others think Pete Rose tarnished the game of baseball. Lots of players are in the hall of fame who have done bad things. I think Pete is his own worst enemy. If he would of told the truth to begin with none of this probably would of happened. Yet he continued to lie about it for over 10 years. Finally he admits he did bet on baseball and he bet on the cincinati reds, while he was the manager. ESPN always makes real good movies about sports. |

Sports Illustrated has called this be greatest sports movie ever made. It was a best seller book that I read in the early 90's. For those of you who dont understand just how important High School Football is in Oklahoma and Texas. You need to watch this movie. Lots of pressure is put on the high school athletes and the coaches to win. Read my story called "The Curse" in the Story Telling Time block of the Literature and Arts section of this forum. It's a true story of just how seriously people take their football in Texas and Oklahoma. The movie has Billy Bob Thornton in it. He plays the head coach of the Permian High School Panthers of Odessa, Texas. He says this role was hard for him because he couldnt use any cuss words. He said qoute, "You know how hard it is to not curse when you are yelling at someone." lol ;D |

Title: Re: Upcoming Movies Post by Jimbo on Dec 9th, 2005, 3:55am This movie starts here tomorrow and I intend to see it... Here is a little review.. Dec 2, 3:18 PM (ET) By COLLEEN SLEVIN COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (AP) - Donna Yourkowski can't remember the last time she took her four children to the movies. A Christian who home-schools her kids, she thinks most movies send them in the "wrong direction" morally. But she's taking them to see "The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe," the Walt Disney Co. film based on the book by C.S. Lewis. While refusing to call it a religious movie, Disney is using the same company that promoted Mel Gibson's "The Passion of the Christ" to publicize "Narnia" through churches across the country. The goal is to create the perfect Christmas blockbuster, appealing to both secular and religious audiences. "However you're a fan, it really doesn't matter to us," said Dennis Rice, a spokesman for Disney's distribution arm, Buena Vista Pictures. "We want you to become a fan of the movie." Rice said only 5 percent of the marketing budget for "Narnia," which opens Dec. 9, targeted faith-based groups. Still, there were eight showings for church groups nationwide, including one in November for about 700 pastors and church staffers at the Colorado Springs headquarters of the conservative Christian group Focus on the Family. The best-selling book, published in 1950 and the first of a series, follows four siblings sent to live in an old country house during World War II. They find the mythical Narnia through a walk-in wardrobe and help overthrow a white witch, whose spells have turned innocent victims to stone and frozen the landscape in perpetual winter. There are Christian allusions throughout, from spiteful brother Edmund (Judas) and his noble brother Peter, a fellow "son of Adam." The heroic lion Aslan, an obvious symbol of Jesus Christ, sacrifices his life to save Edmund and is resurrected the next day in plenty of time to defeat the White Witch and her evil minions. The story itself is popular with children and parents of all backgrounds, and is not preachy or overtly Christian, said Robert Thompson, a professor of popular culture at Syracuse University, who has not seen the previews. Unlike "The Passion of the Christ, which grossed more than $400 million worldwide last year despite its graphic violence, "Narnia" is a movie the whole family can see, Thompson said. Thompson thinks only a few will be turned off by the marketing pitch to Christians. "This is a movie based on a story told by a Christian writer who brought some of his spirituality to his storytelling," he said. "What happens (after) that point all depends on who's watching." Paul Dergarabedian, president of box-office tracker Exhibitor Relations Co. Inc., said Disney would be remiss if it did not go after a Christian audience - which is often ignored by Hollywood. "It's just a matter of being all-inclusive and bringing in as many people as possible," he said. The film was co-produced by Walden Media, a film production company bankrolled by Denver billionaire Philip Anschutz, a Presbyterian who favors films without sex or violence. Greg Wright, senior editor for HollywoodJesus.com - a Web site that reviews movies from a spiritual perspective - thinks pastors see the movie as an evangelism tool and a sign of their growing cultural influence. Because of that, he said, pastors are being "used" to help promote the film even before seeing it. "The tendency is to think we are engaged in this massive cultural war and to seize this opportunity and fight back," he said. Parishioners at Cherry Creek Presbyterian Church in Denver are being allowed to see the movie a day early. The church has rented out a 350-seat theater and tickets are going quickly, said Bruce Finfrock, the family ministries pastor. The church will follow up with a panel discussion of the movie for adults and a Narnia-themed vacation bible school in July for kids. Finfrock said the movie draws attention to basic family values and depicts what Christians believe to be a very real battle between good and evil in the world. "As Christians, we celebrate the fact that good will ultimately win out over evil," he said, "and the movie validates what we believe to be true." |
