This is where we post our frustrations about some technical problems which some of us  "computer geeks" are finding hard to solve or to comprehend. Hehehehehe!!!  

                                                                  Let me go first. Hehehehe! Can anyone help me? Why do I keep losing my graphics? I mean I only see words when I post here? I can't even see the pics on poster's name? I keep getting "error on page" when I post or replies to something?It's really very frustrating coz I do not see my smileys and I do so love to use them everytime!

I've done a Google about your problem, and ran across this support tip on Microsoft's website:

I don't know if this will solve your problem, but it may.  A far better solution is to drop the use of Internet Explorer in favor of the Firefox web browser.  You can download it from here:

http://www.mozilla.org

You can count on a much better web browsing experience with Firefox than with Internet Explorer.  Once you start using Tabs, you never will look back.  Another browser to consider is Opera.  You can download that one here:

http://www.opera.com

Opera is another great web browser that also has Tabs.  With Tabs, you can open several web pages in your browser at one time, and not suffer computer memory issues like you would opening several windows of Internet Explorer.  Also, the Firefox and Opera communities do update their software when exploits and other security issues are discovered.  Give them a try!

Im willing to try it, Ree. But tell me first what to do with my Internet Explorer. Should I delete/uninstall it first? Im not joking when I say I know nothing about computers. I always let my technician do everything for me. All I know is how to log on/off and browse. Anything more is beyond my computer comprehensions already specially the technical side of things.

Had the same problem too Witchy po and ree advice me to use a different browser...now its working great...MOzilla fire fox is great browser....

Witchy, you won't need to do that with IE.  You can "uninstall" it, but its not worth the hassle.  Just install Firefox, and away you go.  Also, you may need to download the Macromedia Flash plugin, and I advise you to get a fresh Java.  Here are links for you:

I have downloaded everything u told me to, Ree...and nothing has change. I still can't see my smiley's or mine and coochie's pic. All I see here is a rectangle divided into 4 colors..light green, light pink, light yellow and light blue. Even the smileys are not visible. Only the title's? I was thinking if it's not my settings? But settings of what? Cooch, you sure it's the same problem?

Witchy, you can't see the smilies even in Firefox?  Flash is not needed to see smilies.  The only thing I can think of is that your desktop colors are not high enough.  Smileys should work at 256 colors or better.  Maybe you can have a Firefox window open on your desktop and show us a picture of your desktop?  I also need to know what version of Windows you are running.

Sorry I have been busy, Ree. No, I do not see my smileys here. I only see the words "More Smileys" but not the icons. I have a witch pic under my ID here, right? Now all I see is the rectangle shaded with 4 light colors in yellow, green, blue and pink. It's what I see at mine and the other's posters when I look at them. And it's what I see also in place of those smiley icons. And unless you don't have a pic in yours or something....I only see dots under your ID when I look at it, and the words .....Arlington, TX TX....And BTW...im using WindowsXP..

Never worry or feel embarassed about asking a computer question.  To get a picture of your desktop, follow these directions on this webpage:

Then just upload the image to whereever you are hosting your avatar image and use the Image button in the forum posting box to show the image in your post.  I would like to see Firefox running in the forum on the desktop screenshot.  Then I can see what is happening and take it from there.

I tried, Ree but I can't make it to work either!!! I just want to remind you that I do not have a printer anymore. Let me describe it as best as I can, ok? It's like this. For example I am at my mailbox. Instead of seeing images or pics (ads included), I only see shades of colors in place of the images of pics. There are only 4 shades of colors in place of those images, light blue, pink, yellow and green. Where the images are supposed to be, nothing is there except these shades of colors. And it is the same everywhere. Now, I can only get the images or see them when I check the sites of those ads. I'm experiencing the same thing at the forum. Except that at the forum, my smiley's icons disappeared also. I only see words, for example "Cheers, Excited, Let's Rock..and so on....but not the icon, do you understand what I'm saying?I went to the "Picture Perfect" and I can't see any of the pics that was posted there, too! Do you think it has something to do with my video card? Or my setting of something? Thanks for spending time to try and help me, Ree, I really appreciate it.

Yes, it does sound more and more like your video card settings.  My advice is to right click your mouse on your desktop and check your Settings tab.  You should have it set at 16 bit or 32 bit.  16 bit is the one that I recommend.  Check that and tell me what it is set at.

I just did, Ree...it was set to 32...i changed it to 16 per adviced. Nothing has changed. I'm still having the same problem.

Oh, and btw, readers, this thread is not just for me. Anybody need help, you can shout it here too. I feel funny that I'm the only one posting here, except for Cooch, that is. I see lots has been checking this thread. What, everyone's checking on my progress? Hehehehe!

How about doing System Restoration? Well, I am not sure, but let's wait what Ree has to say. Because that's what I sometimes do when I encounter problem and I can not find out how to fix it.

Well, your colors are OK.  The reason why I wanted to see what Firefox was doing in a screenshot is that if Internet Explorer and Firefox both do not render images properly for you, there is a much more serious issue inside your operating system.  That's when Kris' suggestion of a "System Restore" comes into play.  Internet Explorer and the Firefox Web Browser have completely different rendering engines to display web pages.  If both act the same way, then there is the possibility of a major problem with your Windows XP.

Thanks, Norkay-Now if I can only learn how to do the System Restore then I would feel a little better. Hehehehe! Mind explaining them to me step by step on where to go and what to click on...etc..etc..?
    And, oh btw, I just noticed..have u guys ever heard of All-in-One SECRETMAKER? My tech said it's a spam blocker and a good scanner. The reason I asked is that I just noticed that the colors and shapes of the ones I was describing you earlier, the ones I find instead of pics and smileys on here are exactly what I have in that SECRETMAKER's icon which i can see right now  at the bottom right of my computer. It was hidden before so I didn't see it. I clicked on it and these are what I have on: Spam Fighter, Worm Hunter, Banner Blocker, Privacy Protector. The rests are unchecked. I'm not sure if there is a connection though. I just noticed the icon and the colors are the same. Let me know, ok? Thanks again-

Wow Witchy! There is a new piece of information.  How about uninstalling that piece of software and see what happens?  With the trio of Firefox, Spybot Search & Destroy and Anti-Vir, you don't need that thing.  Uninstall it and tell us what happens....

Once you told me that the images in your browser were the same as the icon in your tray, then I knew that the program with that icon in your tray was the culprit.  I've never heard of SecretMaker.  I don't think it is really necessary anyway with so many great free tools out there in the mainstream.  That's why I wanted to know if Firefox and Internet Explorer did the same thing; because they present web pages completely different.  What happened to SecretMaker is that some particular setting, probably something to do with displaying image settings in a web browser was switched off.  I'm glad I helped to solve your problem.  Do I get a raise now?

ok, Now I understand. You know, sometimes that icon shows up, and sometimes it is hidden. But I never really connected the two coz as I have said, I have been using that for a long time now and it seems to work really ok. But something keeps nagging at the back of my mind everytime I look at it. I just cant place it. About 6 months ago, actually more than 6 months I think, I had my technician friend reformatt my computer coz I was having a lot of problems. It's very slow to connect, sometimes at a day I'm always on freeze, then the pop-ads bothers me a lot and some other problems I can't recall at the moment. That's when he told me I need that SECRETMAKER. It's supposed to protect a lot of things, even getting booted from the room thru voice. And it really works so I thought "this is cool!" Until two weeks ago. :-/ Then yesterday, when I logged back on, I saw the icon again. That's when I finally noticed the similarity. Like "hey, wait a minute, this icon and the colors are the same ones i see in place of pictures at the forum and at my mailbox !!:o On closer inspection I realized that it was indeed the same ones! That's how I came to mention it in my post yesterday, Ree. But I'm glad it's all over now. ;D You can't imagine how glad I am to have them all back!! [smiley=icon_super.gif] [smiley=icon_super.gif] [smiley=icon_super.gif] Now I can get to my next problem at the forum, which is how to make my words move or put shadow in them or how to qoute lots of comments at the same time in one postings. [smiley=wall.gif] On that thoughts, I'm going right now to Marieta's Trial and Error and see if I can get lucky today. ;D And you can have a raise as high as you want, as long as it don't drain my bank account. ;) Again, thank you very much. I wouldn't have touched that SECRETMAKER if you have not told me it will not damage my computer. My compliments.

I personally did not like SECRETMAKER.  A friend suggested I download it months ago and ugh~!  It kept freezing my pc everytime I try run other programs.  I have enough protection I think on my pc anyway like Ace Utilities, Spybot S&D, SE Adaware, Microsoft Antispyware, SpywareBlaster, SpywareGuard, AVG, TweakRegCleaner, and my ever reliable ZoneAlarm Suite.  I deleted that SECRETMAKER after 3 days of use.  Whew...

I'm glad your pc is back to normal Woowoo.  And about printscreen I have Gadwin Printscreen Utility somewhere which I rarely use, but it works just fine.  Just don't have the need to use it.  But it will come in handy someday I suppose.

What I want to learn now is how to hyperlink.  I don't like posting the whole web address for reference, I just want it to be simple.  Like for instance I want to say " Please click HERE to go to previous page" (where the word HERE links to another webpage)...instead of "please see http://www.1freeworld.net/cgi-bin/Yabb/YaBB.cgi?board=newbie;action=display;num=1132009310;start=10#10 to go to previous page"  I tried to use <a ref="http://... ></a> but it does'nt seem to work ::)

Chantiq, just use the earth looking button and click on it.  The forum does not use HTML, but it's own code.  If I type it for you, it would not show up.  For image links, lick on the Image button.  I hope that helps.

The URL button is correct.  What you do is to paste the URL that you want between the forum URL tags.  The FTP tags though I don't think you will need.  Make sure there is no space between the brackets and the letters "url".  Other than that, I'm not sure what the problem is...

i wanted to know how to put a pic on this form thingies profile or what?....im clueless cause i was lookin through the profile editing thing and i didnt see an option that ask if you wanna enter a pic so.....somebody help......send the help message to my email at fesodawg@yahoo.com....cause sometimes its hard tryin to look for the response here in this page.....so many forums to look th.....you know what just post it here ill come back i wont forget

Feso, first you have to sign in at photobucket to get an account there.
Once you sign in, you can download ur pictures there.
THat is where u copy and tag pictures from so u paste it to the forum .

when u download some pictures there are three links there below the picture that you just download.
url, tag, and img
url : copy paste to use in your profile  if u like to post a picture with ur profile
the img is what u need to post in every reply you make if you want to post a picture.
just copy and paste that img link then paste it to ur reply message.
Make sure the file name is not long for example prettyfeso.jpg sometimes, the software on this forum cant take big file name so just cut down the file name when u download the picture to your photobucket.
Hope this will solve ur dilema..

I have asked many people about my problem of not being able to get in the forum.  It's strange because I am able to get to other sites except for this one.  I have considered this day to be my lucky day lol being able to get in so I am taking the opportunity to post.  I might not be able to get in again, someone help me, please  :( I don't know what is wrong.

I am not sure, but it could be your browser that was blocking your entry to some sites. Sometimes, browser automatically blocks some sites. Please check your pop-up blocker.  I am not sure sis, but that's all I can think.  ;)

BTW, looking for our dearest Administrator/Computer Guru for a surer idea.

Hi marz.  What kind of firewall do you have in your pc?  Please check your Privacy settings on your firewall, and see if you have 1Freeworld site and check what settings you have for this site (cookie control?).  Also Kris is right.  What kind of web browser do you use?  I highly recommend switching to Mozilla Firefox if you are still using IE or Internet Explorer (if you are a windows user.
