Title: (03/17/2005) Instant Messenger Service Running
Post by ReeBop on Mar 17th, 2005, 8:12am
You all may have noticed the IM icon at the top of the page.  Ever since, I moved the server, this service has been down until today.  I would like help troubleshooting this service and I will be testing and configuring it until it is running properly.  Yahoo support is currently not working until I hear from the Jabber server experts on why I'm having a problem with it.  ICQ service is running, and since the AIM support is tied to ICQ, it should work too.  I have no idea if the MSN support is working.  Plus, it's my own service as well and I'll be setting up a permanent room there in the next few days.
I recommend that you download a client for your computer instead of using the Web Messenger right away.  PSI, Exodus and Gaim are good choices for Windows, but there are many fine clients out there.  The IM service is also multi-platform, so you can connect with many operating systems....from Macs, to Linux, to OS/2.  Let me know if you have any questions.

The Yahoo support is now working.   Silly me, I need to look more carefully at the source I am using.  The Yahoo transport source given with the package was too old.

Happy St. Patricks Day
