Great Scott! Its Superman---er, Scottman. Uh--Scotty, can you beam down my clothes? Hehe. I dont know Scott very well but if I am to perceive this man from all our chats, I'd say he's a Canadian misplaced in Hollywood, a fantastic dad and a devoted husband who controls the deep pockets of Warner Bros. But thats all I know and I'm eager as everyone here to know more about the great Scott!

Q: How long u been in the chatnet world?
That would depend on your definition of "chatnet" but I guess I started in the early 90's when email first started getting used. I've had my "My Yahoo id, scottman, since early 1996 and an email account since around 1990.

Q: What u doin misplacin u in hollywood lol?
Well, that is a long story, but to shorten it up; my wife lived in LA when we started to date and her family is here so that is kind of where we stayed. When I decided to get out of consulting and find a "real job" the offer from Warner Bors. came along so that's how we ended up in Hollywood.

Q: Aside from bein fantastic dad pls discribe u as a dad?
I'd like to think of myself as a "cool dad" the kind that when my daughters become teenagers they won't go running away when I walk in the house;D I consider myself patient and laid back but I do believe in discipline and I do think my kinds are pretty well behaved (even if it's coming from "dad", i've seen some others and mine seem to be "not too bad";) I love my girls(wife included) more than enything and would do whatever is within my power to give them a good life.

Q: What are your great warner bros collections? and why u like collecting them?Well, I have a superman cause someone gave that to me when I got the job; otherwise natta. I'm not really a collector of stuff and I'm really not much of a "Movie Guy". When I got the job I had to "learn" the tv shows and movies we made cause i didn't have a clue... One day I'll tell ya the "George Clooney story"...

Actually I don't really get angry very often. When I do feel angry I tend to workout and that takes care of it.

for you?
After making love with my wife we fall asleep while she is still laying in my arms.

Glasses

Anything to do with computers... Worst; didn't really have a worst, but I guess spelling and writing class was never kind to me (I can't spell and even I have a hard time reading my own writing.

Not really sure; I guess my mom & dad liked it ???

2. Were you naughty as a boy?
Oh, I guess I had my moments getting through my teens, but not too bad.

3. Is true that you can see a full picture of yourself thru your kids?
Interesting question, never really thought about that. I can see 2 very unique personalities that are very opposite of each other but yet very much a blend of me and my wife...

4. What was the most unforgettable event of ur life?
I've got 2; seeing the birth of each of my children.

5. You said you have daughters....how old are they?
The youngest is 14 months and the oldest will be 4 in January.

6. What you think are the causes of infedility?
Yeah know, I have no idea... being a faithfull husband, i've never really thought about it.

7. Are you a patient husband and father?
Yes

8. ARe you a humble person or the opposite?
Probably somewhere in the middle; I don't think I hit the extream on either side.

9. What are your unreachable dreams? if there's any.
Ask me on my death bed and I'll let you know if I did not obtain what I was shooting for ;) so far, i've been pretty succesfull and achieving my dreams.

10. If you are given to live for a week, what will you do and where will you go and with whom?
I'd spend every minute with my wife and kids; it wouldn't really matter where -- probably at home.

The how we met really isn't that romantic; I worked with her sister and she introduced us; now if you ask me I was "Set up" ;D but in 6+ years I've never been able to get anyone to admit it!! ;)

For me, the hardest part of being a dad is when I have to discipline or punish my kids. Their little lip starts to pout and the crocodile tear starts to drip down their face... breaks my heart :(

I don't think I have the power "to do" anything to my wife ;D We don't really have a difficult marriage, we just kind of get along. Outside of my own relationship, i think the worst thing a guy could do to his wife (or vice versa) is commit adultery -- I think that just eliminates trust from a relationship and without trust I don't think you have much of a relationship -- I hope that kinda answers your question ???

Hey; i'm a guy -- and one that finds women beautiful. So if by attracted you mean can I look at a woman and thing she's a "babe" -- absolutely. However, to this point in my relationship with my wife (6+ years) i've never been attracted to someone beyond the physical.

I think that's a question best directed at my wife; but she has never complained afterwards ;) (and trust me; if my wife was not satisfied, she would let me know!!!) ;D

I don’t think I can narrow it down to a specific instance or a single event; it just happened over time. The more we hung out the more I wanted to “keep hanging” out I think. How did I propose… well, being the romantic type that I am… I went home for Christmas by myself (Xmas, 1998) and while I was there I bought her an engagement ring. When I got back to LA I took her to a garden in Pasadena called Decaso Gardens. As we wandered through the garden we ended up at this fountain (which happened to be the place where we shared our first kiss). So at this point I got down on one knee, took out the ring and popped the question.

I don’t really know – I’m not very good at focusing on, or thinking about, the negative.

dish – I love all food --- to pick just one would be a sin and damn depressing

~ What makes you happy?
Oh, so many things:
When I get home from work and my kids run into my arms
When my kids do something for the first time and you can see the pride in their eyes.
When my wife tells me she loves me
When I make my wife laugh; when she makes me laugh
Ice Cream on a hot summers day
When a song I like comes on the radio when I’m driving by myself
Long walks with my wife when our kids fall asleep in the stroller
To name a few…

~ What makes you sad?
When I see someone dear to me sad
When I see or read things that show how truly evil mankind can be to each other

~ What is that one thing that you think is the most important lesson that you can impart to your children?
There are so many things we need to teach our children growing up, it is hard to pick just one thing… I guess one of the things I think is important is to teach our kids to be independent thinkers and self sufficient in life.

~ What's the biggest lesson you've learned about life so far?
To not worry about things you have no control over; which is almost everything.

~ If you could be God for a day, what's the first thing you would do and why?
There is a tough question; I think that is more responsibility than I want;) God does things in his way and his time; who are we to judge that or think we could do something different or better? I think if that were to happen we would have such a different perspective that it would be impossible to answer this question…

~ To date, what's your greatest achievement so far?
I’m not really good at judging myself; however, I am proud of where I am at in my career so far.

~ What's your greatest wish?
To watch my kids grow up healthy and happy, stay out of trouble, become successful; this, in turn, allowing my wife and I to have an enjoyable and comfortable retirement!

~ What's the most daring thing you have ever done? the craziest? naughtiest? sweetest? (that's four answers... ;D
Most Daring: Quit my job, packed up my jeep and drove 3000 miles to start a new career in a new city by myself.
craziest: Drag racing as a teenager
Naughtiest: Snuck backstage at a concert.
Sweetest: The way I proposed to my wife.

~ What is it that you just don't get about your wife or about women in general?
Mood swings – how can one person go from happy to not happy and back to happy in about a 60 second period… never could get that.

~ What's the best thing about being married and being a father?
Being Married; having someone to share life with that cares about your dreams and who’s dreams you care about.
Being a father; The absolute love that your children have for you – no feeling in the world can come close to when you come home at the end of the day and when you open the door you hear two kids running from where ever they are to jump into your arms and give you a hug…

What book is on your bedside table right now?
A stack of Time Magazines and a collection of Sherlock Holmes stories

~ How would you like to be remembered?
As a good man who loved his family, worked hard and gave them the best life he could.

No I don’t because not everyone has a mind capable of love. Take a look at the evil people on this planet, I don’t think they are capable of any kind of love.

I don’t think a woman has that power. I am of the belief that our core sociological behaviors are genetic and our core social beliefs are learned at a very young age; for the record, I don’t think a man can change a woman either…

Here are my questions for you:
I’ll do my best…

My wife is Vietnamese. I worked with her sister and she introduced us.

2.What was your biggest misundertsanding with your wife since the day of your marriage or relationship and how did you overcome or settle it? If u cant mention the misunderstanding it's ok.
This is a tough one; my wife and I kind of just get along. If we don’t agree on something we try to come up with a compromise; We do it her way – just kidding. We try to “give and take” until we can come to an agreement – this can take several days some time ;D

3.When was the happiest moment of your life? The saddest?
The happiest day (and it was more the entire process from the first time you heard the heart beat to the first ultrasound…) was the birth of my first baby I think. It was one of the most amazing things I’ve ever gone through.

The saddest day was when my grandma died. She was very special to me and very young when she died.

4.How do you compare your singleness to your married life ? Which one do u think is happier to you?
Not sure you can compare; they are just different. The married life is definitely the “happier for me”. I am a family man and I get the most joy in life from my wife and kids.

I think it makes the same difference that a mom makes; kind of the yin and the yan of parenthood.

I am much more relaxed and laid back than my wife. She is more of a “worrier” so the I think the 2 extremes give a good overall balance.

I would like my children to follow my examples of work ethic and live ambitions. I am from the belief of “if its ok for me it is ok for my children” so to that end I consciously try not to do anything that I don’t think its ok for them to do; I hope that makes sense…

*** What are the rules that u usually do for ure kids to discipline them..especially ure eldest?

*** HOw u will motivate ure child to excel in life?
I am a firm believer in positive re-enforcement and I think the motivation to excel comes from within; derived from external influences and examples. If the kids see the parents motivated to excel, achieve a high level of education, strive to succeed at work; that will rub off on them.

*** Ig ure kid turned into a teenager...and i know men tend to be more rational than wifey how can u teach ure children about planning for thier future?
Again, I think it is a matter of “monkey see monkey do” set a good example and share with your kids what you do and they will be ok.

The main discipline action with the oldest one is to take away privileges or toys that she likes. This seems to work well. For example if she is miss behaving we will ask her to stop, if she continues we will warn her that she "won't be able to read today", that usually works since she loves to read. If she still continues we will intervene and stop the behavior and we won't read to her. Other things are to take away her favorite doll or not let her watch a movie that day. We mix it up so it is not the same all the time.
