Please dont yell HI JACK! U might be detained and they might do a full body search on u. ;D |

Title: Re: Any Tips On Traveling? Post by thesweeetest_thing on Jan 21st, 2004, 11:17pm if i am travelling a very far distance and will be staying for an extended period of time, i never bring any handcarry items because i hate lugging that stuff around in the airport or fighting to get it in and out of the overhead bins. if i am travelling a short distance and staying a short period of time, i don't bring luggage to check in...just a handcarry item to avoid the baggage claim lines.If I need anything else, I just buy it ;) Also. i tossed all my socks with holes because most major airports make you take your shoes off through security ;D |
||
Title: Re: Any Tips On Traveling? Post by Slice_of_Asia on Jan 22nd, 2004, 10:11am that's a good tip about the socks with holes dawg. the only other thing is right before you get up to go to the bathroom, make sure to fix your hair in the back of your head because trust me, after sitting for hours and rubbing up against the seat, your hair's gotta be all nappy. And everyone behind your knows it. ;D |

Title: Re: Any Tips On Traveling? Post by mylane on Jan 23rd, 2004, 2:26am i'll take note about the socks issue ;D back to topic: have a ballpen handy, and paracetamol it is better to travel during off-peak season. ticket prices are affordable and less queue at the airports. Understand that, Customs officers have the authority to conduct enforcement examinations without a warrant, ranging from a single luggage examination up to and possibly including a personal search. Be sure and read "Know Before You Go." |

Title: Re: Any Tips On Traveling? Post by madd on Jan 23rd, 2004, 6:15pm Before you travel, wear socks for 1 month without washing them. If they're going to inspect things, it'll cause them to move you faster through security. Do the same with clothes too. |

Title: Re: Any Tips On Traveling? Post by need4speed8dalejr on Jul 16th, 2004, 3:31pm I really like to travel light. I never take more clothes than I can jam into my carry-on luggage. Yah...that's right, I strongly urge you to only bring carry-on luggage especially important if your have a couple of connecting flights and deathly important if you change carriers somewhere. Those baggage dudes love to send your bags on the wrong flight and if not then things seem to be missing. Next. I agree with some of the other posts when they say that you can always buy a few things where you are going. I like to do that with small items. Next, bring all your personal items (soap, shampoo, underarm) in clear ziplock bags so that any breakage can be contained, and that if security officials do have to open your bags they can quickly see what's inside. And bring all those items in small sizes! And only bring what you need for about a week or so, if you plan on staying away from home longer, buy the things you need on the road. If I travel on business I take only my carry-on bag which I store in the overhead bin, and one smaller bag that I store under my seat with items that I might use on the plane (a book, snacks, magazines, a bottle of water, anti-bacterial gel, kleenex, ect). That saves you from having to search for something in your carry-on while in-flight. Next, always plan for the worst case senario. That is a full flight with several loud, over-weight, snoring, drooling, possible babies or fidgety kids sitting next to you. So that you will be prepared with all that you need with you. If you travel alot, save the earphones they give you, and bring them along each time you fly. Some airlines charge you $5 bucks so you can listen to the in-flight movie or switch to several music channels. I think American Airlines is the only carrier that doesn't charge you for them, maybe because they have been used so much. Yuck!! Always bring a pen, a small notebook, a watch, tylenol, small candies incase you have a dry throat (because the re-circulated cabin air is very dry). I also like to bring those small alcohol bottles from Hotels back with me. Every once in awhile, it doesn't happen often, but you might be seated next to a very attractive woman who you hit it off with. And since they give you unlimited soda's if you pull a couple of small bottles out of your bag and have a few rum & cokes with her. After all the stewardess are always busy and besides who wants to pay $7.50 for the same little bottle you took from the Hotel for free. Nothing like a few drinks and small talk to make a long boring flight fun. Ohh..and travel insurance is a bright idea. I take travel insurance that covers me all year and in most Countries. If you travel alot, get that one. It costs more, but it's worth the piece of mind knowing that you are covered and that is one less thing to worry about. |

Title: Re: Any Tips On Traveling? Post by need4speed8dalejr on Oct 26th, 2004, 2:47am If your getting on a flight anytime soon, stay away from the water onboard!! During the summer of 2004 158 various North American Domestic and International Carriers had there drinking water tested by the US E.P.A. and found that most failed by testing "positive" for coliform bacteria. I had long suspected this and avoided the water system totally when onboard. Most people don't realize just how carelessly most planes are cleaned, and how closely the waste water and the fresh water are located on the plane. This makes it all too easy for the two to get mixed, even if a few drops of the waste water gets into the fresh water system, that contaminates the system forever, because it is a closed system that has to be sterilized to be deemed safe for humans to drink once more. And with some Airlines on the brink of going out of business, they don't want to spend money they don't have to. When traveling we must take steps to protect ourselves. I ALWAYS bring bottled water that I bought before onto the flight. And I never drink tea or coffee that is made with the onboard water. While most people believe that boiling the water gets rid of the bacteria, that just isn't correct onboard an aircraft. First most airlines don't boil the water for a long enough period of time and at a temperature that is high enough to kill all the bacteria. After all, most stewardesses just want to give you what you wanted and move on, they just don't have the time to wait for the water to boil for the correct period of time. So be careful. Drink only bottled or can drinks and avoid ice in your drinks if possible, since you never can tell where the ice was made. Most larger International Jets have a small ice maker onboard, and if the water is bad, then so is the Ice. Next as I said in my past post, I bring an alcohol based Gel that disinfects, and I rub it on my hands several times while onboard during the flight. This will help to cut down on the transmission of germs. I also never turn on the overhead fans that blow re-circulated air onto a person. If someone is sick on the flight their Flu/Germ spores travel in the air, and get directed right into your face. Some people might think that I am a "Germaphobe" well, maybe, but I like to think of it as "Flying Smart". The last thing I want to get is sick while on Vacation. Who wants to spend all your time recovering because you didn't take a few simple precautions. Not me Ehh!! Title: Re: Any Tips On Traveling? Post by Need4Speed8DaleJr on Mar 4th, 2005, 9:06pm One more Traveling Tip... While on my Vacation to Jamaica a few weeks back, I noticed when I took my checked luggage off the conveyer belt when I got back to Montreal, that the zippers on the outside pockets of my suitcase were opened. Others in my Group had some Zippers opened as well. Luckily....I didn't have much in those pockets. The only thing I put in the pockets were large Ziplock bags, and they were missing. So pack items that can be easily stolen or items that you don't want to go missing on the inside portion of your luggage. After talking with my Cousin who works at the Airport, He told me that if the Baggage handelers who work there are stealing items, they can only steal what they can easily get their hands on, and that means the outside pockets of the Bags. If they get caught with an open bag, then they are suspected of stealing. But if they only open a zipper and feel around, they will only get what they can reach. Hmmm...so just a "Heads-Up" on what's going on...Be Careful out there Gang! |

Never trust strangers who approach you outside the airport or your hotels. |

Title: Re: Any Tips On Traveling? Post by Saffire_65 on Apr 20th, 2006, 2:07am [c]Fly Air-Janaazah[/c] 1.When we are leaving this world for the next, it shall be like a trip to a foreign country. Where details of that country will not be found in glamorous travel brochures the Holy Quran and Hadith. 2.Where our plane won't be British Airways, Gulf Air, Singapore Airlines or Emirates but Air Janaazah. 3.Where our luggage won't be allowed to be 30kg, but our deeds, no matter how heavy they weigh. You don't pay for excess luggage, they are carried free of charge, with compliments from our Creator. 4.Where our dress won't be Pierre Cardin or the like, but the white cotton shroud. 5.Where our perfume won't be Channel or Paco Rabane, but camphor and attar. 6.Where our passport won't be Singapore, British or India but Al-Islam. 7.Where our visas won't be six months leave to stay or else, but Laa Ilaaha Illalah Muhammadur Rasool Allah. 8.Where our air hostess won't be gorgeous female, but his name is Isra-eel. 9.Where the in flight service won't be 1st class or economy but a piece of beautiful scented or foul smelling cloth. 10.Where our destination won't be Jeddah International or Chennai Airport but the last terminal graveyard. 11.Where our waiting lounge won't be nice carpeted and air-conditioned rooms, but the six- feet deep gloomy qabr. 12.Where the immigration officer won't be his Majesty's officer but Munkar and Nakeer. They only check out whether you deserve the place, you yearn to go. 13.Where there is no need for custom officers or detectors. 14.Where the transit airport will be Al-Barzakh. 15.Where our final place of destination will either be the garden under which river flow or the hell fire. 16.The trip does not come with a price tag. It is free of charge so your Savings would not come handy. 17.the flight can never be hijacked, so you don't worry about terrorist. 18.Food won't be served on this flight, so do not worry about allergies or whether the food is Halal. 19.Do not worry about legroom; you won't need it, as it will become things of the past. 20. Don't worry about delays. This flight is always punctual. It arrives and leaves on time. 21.Don't worry about in-flight entertainment program because you would have lost all your sense of joy. 22.Do not worry about booking this trip it has already been booked (return ticket) the day you became a fetus in your mother's womb. 23.At last the good news! Do not worry about who will be sittingnext to you. You will have the luxury of being the only passenger. One small snag though, this trip comes with NO WARNING!! ARE YOU PREPARED????; |
