Title: Controversy at the Tour de France 2007
Post by ReeBop on Jul 25th, 2007, 10:38pm
For those who have any interest in the Tour de France, the premier cycling event in the world, this Tour has been rocked by one drug scandal after another.  Alexander Vinokourov has tested positive for a highly oxygenated blood transfusion and because of it, the entire Astana team has been pulled from the race.  Cristian Moreni of the Cofidis team was found with high levels of testosterone (same allegation as Floyd Landis last year) and Cofidis today pulled their entire team from the race.  Amazingly, Cofidis team members including Moreni were part of a protest at the beginning of the last stage and held themselves back from the Peloton to make their views known on doping in cycling.  Clouds are now surrounding Michael Rasmussen where he failed to appear for tests in previous years and failed to test just before the Tour began this year.  This could be the most damaging Tour to date.

FLASH! Michael Rasmussen has been fired from the Rabobank Cycling Team and Rabobank has withdrawn their entire team from the Tour!  Alberto Contodor of Team Discovery is now the official holder of the Yellow Jersey.  It has been found that Rasmussen was lying about his wearabouts when he was supposed to take a mandatory test for doping.  T-Mobile, Astana, Cofidis and now Rabobank have all fallen from the Tour.  More to follow...

Absolutely incredible!
